Thought I’d share this on the Babaylan indigenous culture of the Philippines. I have participated in some of these rituals and found them both powerful and fascinating particularly seeing the connections to Indian and Chinese language, physical and spiritual cultivation and healing cultures that are part of it. My wife’s grandmother was a traditional practitioner of this and the capabilities of her lineage appear to have been passed on to the women in my immediate family. The video talks about the indigenous experience in confronting Christianity and Islam as well as the role of gender including transgender there. My guess is that many indigenous practices in other parts of the world went through similar processes where they interacted with/were changed by outside cultures trying to control them. In the modern era the Babaylan culture mostly manifests as indigenous healing practices like manghihilot which are still widespread in the Philippines but there also still exists behind this those currently following the culture and practices of the Babaylan. My understanding this tradition was not only affected by Catholicism and Islam but also more recently by American Protestant missionaries who carved up the Philippines in the 20th century into areas of authority to proselytize and before Catholicism and Islam by Buddhist and Hindu influences. These earlier Indian influences can be seen in the language, traditional scripts, as well as in the healing practices. https:// 1 justjoseph responded to this Quote Edit

This is typical Chūnibyō syndrome stuff. Many of the threads where this is mentioned were moved to the staff eyes only section, and can no longer be found via google. Here are a few examples, but these are pretty tame comparatively. https://www.thedaobums.com/topic/50649-brain-cleansing-in-the-internal-arts/?do=findComment&comment=922530 "Thats why for example, I could watch 20k+ 1000hz high quality movies, or remember past lives, or visualize a whole city projection." https://www.thedaobums.com/topic/50381-levitation-and-possibly-flight/?do=findComment&comment=922713 Question: As far as delusions go, you claim to have a harem of goddesses, shoot eye lasers, travel faster than the speed of light, open portals to other worlds to fight ancient 100,000 Naga demons, etc. Answer: "Those aint delusions, these are tiny percentage of extracts from things I have personally encountered on other planes. Hi Tommy, I would say whatever "knowledge" I might have, is built with bricks of silence. So, empty space indeed. Some basic intellectual understanding of core teachings of the Buddha has been helpful. But, in the end, our karma is unwound through silent practice, in my case, looking at the question "What am I?" You have described a very pernicious trick the ego does. The idea of a self, the ego, has only two jobs. 1. To try and be happy in a world where lasting happiness is impossible. 2. To not die. In order to accomplish 2, it will stop at nothing. That's why we have to let go of absolutely everything. Nothing remains, our true nature shines brightly. Or something like that. I don't know. Practice and see what happens. And, when something unshakeable appears, help others to see that too. We all "know" more than we think. Every human being on this planet has innate Buddha Nature. Yet, most of us, including me, are trapped in mind prison created by thoughts. Thanks for your kind reply. _/|\_

The mod team are a group of volunteers (that is ordinary members) whose role is to ensure that this site is a place where any member can post happily and truthfully. There are a number of rules that have been introduced over the years with the purpose of keeping the peace. These have been adopted progressively based on experience. Each report or instance of posting is considered by the mod team when it arises. We don’t issue general amnesties or permissions as we deal with each instance as it arises. The site is well run and successful and we want to keep it that way while being as permissive as possible. However if someone pushes at the general wish for mutual respect and so on they may well be suspended or banned. This would include introducing external battles and feuds onto the DaoBums site.

Don't worry, be happy! And don't worry, be sad! Don't worry, be angry And don't worry, be fabulous! Be everything fully but don't take any of it too seriously, in a short time it will change. The "Absolute" has no preference and no limitation, everything is a part of it without exception.

@Cobie I share your preference for a symbol that feels peaceful rather than fiery in an angry way. To my thinking, balanced fire has many positive qualities and these are the ones our banner should emphasize -- vibrancy, warmth, playfulness, forward motion, willingness to take necessary action. Political conflict and social media squabbles can also be fiery, but most of us will agree we´ve had enough of that. This said, I think the logo really does need to be a horse. The point of changing the banner every year around this time has always been to reflect the energy of the coming year according to Chinese astrology.

I like this story. Occasionally in my anthropological studies I come across a gem . A few years back ( due to 'emergency situation' - threatened collapse of culture , imminent loss of important knowledge , etc ) certain Aboriginal elders started to reveal previously secret knowledge about how the immensely complex Australian Aboriginal 'social system worked . I started about 10,000 ya, by the inspired vision of an artist and solved immense problems and allowed all the people to live together . This thread isn't about that though ... that is just another example of the ingenuity of the 'primitive' ancients , in regard to 'social engineering' , finding and implementing social systems that work .... and getting the people to accept them . The story of Malo is one of these . I think it is ingenious. From the 'outside' ; Someone or group realised potential discord and trouble in the Torres Straight Islands ( spread from the north tip of Oz up to New Guinea ) . There where different peoples and different cultures from different island groups , but focus was becoming more prominent on Murray Island ( perhaps something to do with resources there ? ) . What was going to happen, they where going to 'intersect' and overlap and they had all different Gods . Then someone thought up, 'realised' or was inspired to : ' But the God of THIS island is an octopus . Octopus has 8 arms and they cover the island and go out into the sea in all directions . And all of you 8 different tribes and all of your different Gods are arms of Malo , reaching out and drawing you into himself . You are all different but now work together under Malo and work to help and look after each other . ' I guess people either thought ' Yeah, makes sense.' or just thought it was a good solution. ( Another interesting thing here is that Octopus has 9 brains , one 'satellite' brain for each tentacle and one main toroid * shaped one in the head . .... ) The story from the inside : " Malo was one of four brothers who sailed from New Guinea. A strong wind separated them and Malo sailed on alone until a big wave sank his canoe at Mer. But Malo was very powerful. He drifted around the islands, transforming himself into sea creatures and finally an octopus. A woman called Kabur was fishing and the strong waves carried Malo towards her. He entwined himself around her. Kabur speared the octopus, placed him in her basket and took Malo ashore. Then Meriam hailed Malo, "Keriba agud, ged seker em. Our God, our protector." The men of Las said, "Let there be no more fighting between us. Let Malo remain here to be a god for all. - So Malo gave the Meriam laws and ceremonies to govern their lives. " The system is still in place today . Malo ; https://press-files.anu.edu.au/downloads/press/p151301/html/Text/ch02.html?referer=&page=4 Boys about to be initiated by Malo ; https://octonation.com/octopus-brain/ * dont know what a toroid is ? see below

I would fine tune that a bit: - The ego (personal will) has as its highest value, its self-esteem. It hates to be wrong. - The ego drives the personality to protect the ego. This requires disciplined physical, emotional and mental flows - The disciplined personality is useful to the human spirit when that spirit exerts itself to control the humanness. Control of a disciplined personality is the most obvious precondition to first stage enlightenment - At first stage enlightenment the ego changes from defensive to creative. Thus the ego is central to the spirit establishing control of its humanness.

So, instead of refuting any arguments or blunt truths told in that article - https://ancientmasters.org/library/johnchang-faqi-mopai , you decided to spend hours trying to discredit someone you do not know with things you do not understand. It is hard to refute truth, but you can always seek qualified guidance and support, theraupist sessions exist that work with mental health problems like this. Do not make a victim out of yourself, you have been going around for years talking crap about every single teacher - teaching, justifying it with the lack of "hard evidence". A much better tool would be to open third eye and be able to evaluate every teacher and their level of cultivation yourself. Methods you follow do not grant even the most basic - core abilities. I did AP scan on John Chang as well, it was not included in the article, but it is way below our standards for teaching. With AP upper manipura you cannot claim yourself to be a Magus. Adepts have AP anahata that is the base level for practicing magic.

You are too hard on people. The reality is that vast majority can't even understand what 'objective evidence' means. When asked, most people are convinced that somebody's verbal narrative is as good enough as 'hard objective evidence'.

What if there is no Absolute that an embodied human can ever partake in? I suspect the “Absolute” Is a philosophers dream, embodied reality is a far more complex issue. In embodied reality it’s likely impossible to simply not worry and be happy, anyway it would be fundamentally immoral to take this attitude in some situations.

Perhaps the usual/religious concept of God is not useful for the deep thinker. For example, you will recall that mystics in the Middle Ages invented their own term: godhead. Why did they do that?

We got one of them down here ! (Well, had one of them, maybe she is dead by now ? Its important to give yourself a cosmic sounding eastern like name ; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jasmuheen ... except her name is Ellen . '' Jasmuheen has stated that she has lived on approximately 300 calories per day for the past fourteen years, maintaining full health through supplementing a fluid intake with "cosmic particles" or "micro-food", which she describes as prana. '' Except ..... '' Regarding her intake of food, Jasmuheen said:[5] "Generally not much at all. Maybe a few cups of tea and a glass of water, but now and then if I feel a bit bored and I want some flavour, then I will have a mouthful of whatever it is I'm wanting the flavour of. So it might be a piece of chocolate or it might be a mouthful of a cheesecake or something like that." In the aftermath of the 60 Minutes broadcast, Kathy Marks noted in The Independent, "Visitors to her large villa in the prosperous Chapel Hill area of Brisbane invariably find her refrigerator generously stocked with food ... '' If you went to one of her seminars ; Ambassador Training Retreats: For in-person intensive events, such as those held in locations like Mexico, the "investment" can be approximately US$1,200 for the training itself, plus accommodation and ....... wait for it ...... food costs. Total packages have been listed at roughly US$1,999 to US$2,222.

It seems he is doing dream, but not sleep Kung Fu. Neidan doesn't do dreams because once a person reaches higher stage, he won't have dreams, so no point to work on it in earlier stages.

Coming back to this thread, almost 14 years later. It's been quite a ride. A couple of points, HGA certified. 1. Hands Off: The Holy Guardian rarely gets involved in a person's life, without being asked. The amount of times this has occurred in my life, can be counted on one hand. All of these times, were when I was making regressive decisions and inhibiting my "long term" growth, in a "Cosmic" context. That being said, if you pray.....they'll be there.....whether you perceive them or not. 2. The Angelic current: is a path of profound light and when you seek K&C, your going through a process of becoming "attuned" to that Light. 3. K&C: is a process that accelerates you growth in significant ways. Deep cleansing, Energetic sensitivity and Increased Magical Knowledge, all factors.
