How is that the same ?

I dont ask for compliance on threads I've started and I respect the threads of those who ask to keep it on track if they began the thread. ...

Why should they have to ask to be not interrupted? Common courtesy, eh?

Thanks for all the good advice! It will receive all the consideration it warrants. (-:

It seems inevitable, but that makes it no less unpleasant.

Sometimes breathing is easy,

Sometimes breathing is hard.

Would you really have it any other way?

Not me. (-:

Ahahaha! These two posts really capture the essence of something I felt inspired to share today.

This is the year of the Fire Monkey - we can see those mischievous monkeys hoarding peaches of immortality up there in our banner.

In particular, the Fire is Yang Fire, which is passionate energy, the active and not always inward focused fire that wants to project and do.

And Monkey represents a container of several elements - a little yin earth, a little yin water, a little yin metal, and mostly Yang Metal.

Perhaps relevant, is the polarity between Tiger (Yang Wood) and Monkey (Yang Metal). Each represent the period of time when the yearly yin and yang energies have reached a balancing point. In early spring we have yang that has replenished enough to become balanced within the retreating yin above, as we can see in hexagram 11, Tranquility. And Yet! That yang energy has finally overcome that yin, is finally stronger than the yin, has finally reached the point where it no longer struggles, but can dominate. In this we see the tiger's ferocity as it stalks hidden in the early morning shadows, unseen yet potent, dominant, alive with condensed vitality like the fresh sprout that has strongly sprung upwards, pushing through the earth upwards and downwards to declare its independence before bursting through the surface to greet the sun with spread leaves.

On the other side of the seasonal change we have yin energy that has finally risen half-way below yang, that has finally digested enough of the crazy intense sunlight and overwhelming yang energy to have space and time in which to plot and plan. The yin energy finally has dominance over the yang now, and just as yang that is not still tends toward forceful action, yin that is not still tends towards playing within filling its space and toying with what it can create in that space - in other words, cleverness that can be inventive, witty, plotting, mischievous, just like our monkey friends toying with powerful forces because... why not? We can see this in hexagram 12, stagnation, where the clever ideas get in the way of efficient and balanced flow as we explore what our selfishness is capable of. Humanity? Hello, hello?

Now that that is covered, let us return to the topic at hand.... what was it? Oh, breathing! In, out, in out.

Breathing is related to the Lungs, and the element Yin Metal. In, out, in out, we absorb and release, expand and contract, taking in what is useful and beautiful to our health and exhaling what we are done with, what we can no longer use, what no longer serves.

What was the other thing we were talking about? Oh yes, pooping! It seems inevitable, but that makes it no less unpleasant. Pooping is related to the Yang Metal element, or more specifically the Large Intestine. Here we absorb whatever last nutrients and fluids need processing and then we reject the remaining bits as waste. Oddly enough the Yang Metal element is often associated with the Sword, with Righteous Action, with violently slaying that which no longer serves - quite counter to the beautiful yet parallel process of the lungs. No, it is not always pleasant if there is a lot of contention about what is actually serving and what must go.

So what am I rambling on and on about all this for? Wait, what did I open with... oh right! This is the year of The Yang Fire, Yang Metal Monkey! Yeah, yeah... we can get now that this year might have some not-so-pleasant side-effects that come from processing all that stuff that wasn't serving us and getting smelly inside, and there may have been some stress when we finally released it, but doesn't it feel good to get it out? Now we can move on.

And what does Yang Fire bring to all this Yang Metal processing? Let's see... in the five elements dynamics, Fire controls Metal. In particular Yang Fire controls Yang Metal in a very warrior like fashion known in BaZi as "7 Killings" that is marked for its intense and violent influence.

A hallmark of Yang Metal in all of its righteousness is for it to attach to things - you know, all that stuff that comes out when they do a colon cleansing that had been hardening up in there for years? And Fire is good at melting Metal, softening up its stiffness and allowing it to transform into fluid, Water, the next stage in this cyclical process. So especially this violent interaction might actually help to violently break up some of that hardened dogma that has been taking root and refusing to let go and get processed.

OK I'm done, I can let go.

Oh wait, there's a little more. This past energy month, which is just about to end, was the month of Yang Fire, Yang Metal Monkey. Yes, not only the Yang Fire Yang Metal YEAR, but the Yang Metal month this year ALSO happened to be Yang Fire.

Is it any wonder that we had some viole(n)t digestive issues that culminated during the full moon this month?

Ahahahaha..... In, out, in out....

A colorful and informative post Dailuin, but let us not forget the Eclipses that are also affecting things now.  This started with the last full moon on August 18 started a pattern that in many ways culminated in the Solar eclipse yesterday, September 2, this will finish off as the moon waxes to full and the final eclipse, on September 16.

Isn't it weird that the moon almost precisely covers the disc of the Sun during an eclipse. It's neither significantly smaller, or larger. Perfect.

So... a Lunar Eclipse happens when the light of the Moon gets hidden because the Earth comes between it and the Sun, casting a shadow. A Solar Eclipse happens when the light of the Sun gets hidden because the Moon comes between it and the Earth, casting a shadow.

This happens because the Moon is orbiting the Earth. A full orbit is 27.32 days (OK, another ~2 days are needed for the moon to catch up due to the rotation of the Earth around the Sun). During this motion of the Moon around the Earth we have the moment when the Moon is between the Sun and the Earth, which is a New Moon, and the moment when the Moon is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun, which is the Full Moon.

During the New Moon, we could have a Solar Eclipse, and during the Full Moon we could have a Lunar Eclipse. But we don't, because the Moon's orbit is not even with the Ecliptic:

435px-Ecliptic_with_earth_and_sun_animat

Instead the Moon's orbit ascends across the ecliptic to climax at a northern point and then descends across the ecliptic to a southern point. The moon crosses the ecliptic twice every orbit. These crossing points are called the ascending and descending lunar nodes.

So every month we have two moments when the Moon is lined up between the earth and the sun, and two moments when the moon is even with the ecliptic. Over time these orbital high and low points rotate, and every six months or so we have a period time when the ascending and descending orbital nodes line up, one of them between the Earth and Sun, one opposite the Earth and Sun. During this period, when the Moon becomes New and is directly between the Earth and the Sun, it is also aligned with the Ecliptic and we have a Solar Eclipse; when the Moon becomes Full and is directly opposite the Earth and the Sun, it is also aligned with the Ecliptic and we have a Lunar Eclipse.

This period of time when the nodes line up with the Full/New Moons happens every 6 months or so, giving us a period of a few weeks during which we have eclipses that are more or less exact depending on how closely they align with the middle point when the nodes are in exact alignment between/opposing the earth/sun.

OK. You knew all that already. Why is it important?

In daoist alchemy the Sun and Moon are oft associated with the symbols of Fire and Water . Fire and Water are the nozzles of creation, the dynamic forces of the universe responsible for the unfolding of creation utilizing the primal energies of Heaven ☰ and Earth ☷. In the layer of our psyche these represent consciousness and subconsciousness, the ego and the id.

So the Moon, which pulls on the waters of the Earth to create the tides, is very related to our subconscious instinctual realm where things are often hidden in darkness. Its orbit is known to pull on the watery jing energies of both men and women. Awareness of different stages of this orbit can help us to mitigate instinctual actions that relate to our ability to contain the natural ebb and flow of our subconscious identities and primal energies. This is pretty clear to anyone who has seen people do crazy things on the full moon.

But that's the Lunar cycle, happens every ~29.5 days, we get it. What about Eclipses? Well Eclipses are related to those ascending and descending nodes, so how do those nodes affect our subconscious identities and primal energies?

Since we're working with lunar energies, related to Water ☵, we're working with the flow of subtle jing energies and the subconscious, working with what often tends to get hidden in darkness and overlooked, working with what is very much there but isn't always apparent. Following the Moon's orbit as it crosses the ecliptic, we can see there is a rise and fall here as it ascends to align and cross over the ecliptic, this point of alignment with the Earth's own orbit around the Sun. And where it descends to cross over that plane.

So we can see that these two points where the Moon crosses the Ecliptic might have two specific implications on the dynamics of our subconscious energies. One is the alignment with link between the Earth and the Sun, indicating a connection between this Fire and Water, a connection between conscious and subconscious, perhaps a place of balance, perhaps an indication of some type of center before separation. Second is the rising and falling, ascending and descending momentum of the Moon along this path. Ascending into alignment with the ecliptic, we have greater clarity on our forward path, our momentum is aligned with the forward momentum of the Earth and Sun through our Galaxy. Descending into alignment with the ecliptic, we have greater clarity on where we have come from, seeing into our past and connecting to where we have been.

In Western Astrology, the ascending node is called the North Node and is associated with our higher purpose and destiny - the location of this node when we are born is said to show us the flavor and tone of our higher work and soul's purpose - following this direction tends to bring satisfaction at the soul level. The descending node is called the South Node and is associated with our past life momentum. The location of this node tends to identify the flavor of innate skills and talents we have which come from our past life skills and patterns. Obviously these two Nodes are directly opposite of each other, and this can represent the polarity between destiny and fate - that which we are drawn to because it is easy and familiar and how it opposes that which we might do that brings satisfaction but can often take great work and feels like a going against our familiar selves, as it is indeed a dissolving of the patterns that have been created in our past, which in turn results in the healing of past trauma to reunite, to re-align the pieces of our soul.

So during eclipses, we have periods of time when that strong Lunar energy during a Full Moon or New Moon is also directly aligned with these doorways which connect us deeply into dynamics of the past and future, allowing us to explore the patterns related to the particulars of each of these alignments. Each one is different, and some people might discover stronger lessons during these times than others.

The lunar nodes are also known as the head and tail of the dragon.

Hope that helps!

That close fit is an interesting coincidence, isn't it? Hasn't always been that way and won't always be that way but it does make for some magnificent astromechanical phenomena!

Hmm.... I see that in two days the Sun will be aligned with the North Node. Meaning that our New Moon and Solar Eclipse yesterday was on the ascending path just prior to exact alignment with the North Node. This would be the closest Eclipse alignment this season, and as it is aligned with the ascending head of the dragon, we are seeing a lot of clarity emerge along with some deep wisdom on the forums. I've been a little surprised and happy to see some of the material emerging here.

This also means that the Full Moon two weeks ago was aligned with the descending South Node. Although it wasn't as close of an alignment, we witnessed and participated in a lot of past-karmic entanglements, the connection to our shadow stuff opening up and connecting us more deeply to those unresolved momentums that we are still learning how to bring into harmony as we merge and connect with each other.

Good job everyone, keep working on it!

(The Bums who bother me would never apologize online.  They don´t have the humility.)

LOL is that irony, hypocrisy or arrogance .....or maybe it's all three ?

Hypocrisy?  Oh probably.  I´m a mess of contradictions and my actions don´t always match my stated ideals, I´ll be the first to admit.

Arrogance?  I don´t think so.  In my real life people don´t see me as arrogant.  I´m more forceful and opinionated online though than in person, so perhaps I come off that way?  If anybody wants to share feedback in this regard I am open to it.  (Though it would be better through PM if you´ve got something really negative to say :glare: .)

Do I owe you an apology Karl?

I dunno if I am in the crosshairs or not---I tend to be among people classed as "philosophers" and don't really have much reverence for anything.

On the chance that I've been out of line, I'll drop an apology here just in case.

But will it be enough ?   Should 'down to earth'  low class,  'spritualist',  Macca eaters even be here .... it's soiling things for the uppity,  whole foods ,'real spiritual' , squeeky clean people.   Apparently .   ^_^

Now thats ^ the sort of comment  and poster 'they'  want to get rid of .

So... a Lunar Eclipse happens ......

So we can see that these two points where the Moon crosses the Ecliptic might have two specific implications on the dynamics of our subconscious energies. ......

I remember this from working with bio-dynamics;  they use about  6 or 7 different Moon cycles (some of the ones you mentioned plus other, like the Moon opposition Saturn cycle )  *  .  I read a mention,  not to do any type of agriculture , creative or destructive works, no gardening / agricultural work of ANY type when the Moon is crossing the ecliptic.   I looked into it and it is also a tradition in many places; including S.E. Asia  (where 'astrological agriculture' is practiced.

So I started noting it on my Bio-Dynamic (that shows all these Moon cycles and associated practices ) .... on the  next one coming up, there  ended up being a massive tidal wave in Indonesia, the next one an earthquake somewhere else ... and so on. But I could never figure how to work out the location of where it might happen.

*Full-New Moon                       29.5 days

Moon opposite Saturn              27.3 days

Ascending-Descending Moon   27.3 days

Moon Nodes                            27.2 days

Perigee-Apogee                        27.5 days

Moon in Zodiac Constellations  27.3 days

Sometimes I like to howl at the moon.

I like sparks of crazy wisdom in my dharma lessons.

I like jokes in my philosophy.

I like occasional laughter to break up my meditation.

I like water in my whiskey and whisky in my beer.

everything else.. I tolerate.
