  4. Returning to the source . . .

Hello all! I've read this forum on and off for a while, but now I'm starting a new stretch of the trail and it's time to engage a little more actively. I'm 30-something, living in the Southeastern USA. I read widely, grow most of my own food, drink a lot of craft beer and good bourbon, work at home, play too much chess, and a few other things. I'm focusing right now on my own development, and I'm hoping what I learn here will help me do so. It's nice to meet all of you!
  5. Waking Up From a Little Nap

Greetings! I just woke up from a little several year nap. I'm feeling refreshed and ready to get back to it. Before I drifted off (this last time that is - I do like naps) I was stumbling around the Way with one eye on my tea cup, and one toe in the stream. I haven't gone very far (though it's been a good long time) - which really is fine, because I've got nowhere to go. A little taijiquan here, a little qigong there. Walking circles in the park. Lots of tea, tea, tea, drinking in that cha qi. Music. Must. Have. Music. Always. What else...Dad, husband, living in southern Maine, spilling PHP to pay the rent, spreading the word of Kenneth Rexroth and Louise Michel, and wishing I listened to my Mom and stuck with those piano lessons. Looking forward to reading a whole mess of the posts, learning what folks here have to offer, pouring you some tea, and continuing my practice / crawling, before getting sleepy and climbing into bed for another nap.
  6. Howdy

Howdy, My name is Travis and I am a former member of the Reform Taoism Congregation. After a few years of very limited internet access I came back to find the site no longer in existence so I searched old emails from them and decided to join this site. I am a student at heart, as I love to learn new things. I look forward to reading different ideas on Taoism to incorporate into my own personal philosophy. I don't post much, mostly sit back and read. I hope to learn much here.
  7. Hi everyone

Hey! Here is a little background... When I was a kid I used to have visions of being an old chinese man in a blue robe drinking out of wood cups. In early highschool I confomred and became an athiest. Then I ate a mushroom by the name of Aminta Pantherina... I experienced god like perception and everything changed. I studied yoga, and meditated and practiced pranayama for almost 8 years... finally breaking through into a state of super consciousness. After reaching that state, I could never get back there... I tried and tried, recieved terrible headaches, and then got extremely depressed. Life seemed so empty compared to that state. I started drinking a lot, medicating with anti-depressants, anti-anxiety pills, two kinds of sleeping pills, cocaine, and cigarettes. This happened for a year or two. I then stopped all that garbage... and instead of focusing solely on spirituality or reaching enlightenmnet, I just allowed myself to face every dark emotion that came up. I wanted to die. I then started going to a sweat lodge. They made me a fire keeper, and we did peyote ceremonies as well. I also started boxing, learning how to move my energy with such speed and power. I loved it. I was feeling good just doing the basics of life and making it through all the tough stuff that I was covering up with all those "drugs". I then became empowered with work and money... eventually getting better and better jobs, and losing all my shitty and unnessary old spiritual perspectives on money. All the while studying the I-Ching, Carl Jung, Tao Te Ching, sacred sexuality, and relationships. I dont follow any one teaching 100%. Even though I am totally open, I follow my own way, and my own unique path for what feels right in my own heart. Right now im hoping to refine my inner energy, and realize the greatest, happiest, and most gently powerful version of my awesome self. Im still learning, always learning, and sometimes get lost. But thats okay! Cheers to that! -Cody
  8. Hello all: I've been scoping out the forum from afar for a little while here and finally went ahead and joined up....About me: I'm a twenty-something guy from Massachusetts, USA. My searching the last few years has taken me from Buddhism, to ACIM, to explorations in nondenominational meditation, and most recently to Taoism. I love and utilize different aspects from all that I've studied, but I do feel as though I've landed in Taoism more firmly than anything else before. It seems to me to be in such harmony with many notions that I've felt deep down since before I would've even thought to look into different philosophies or religions. From little things like how I've always been interested in open spaces (as a kid imagining cool attractions in big empty parking lots), to my nagging feelings that much truth could often be found in the middle, to my personality being comprised of seeming paradoxes. Learning more about it brings me a lot of inner peace and in short that's why I'm here: to explore further. My only minor hesitation about joining a forum like this is that I sometimes convince myself that the only real way to practice is to sit under the proverbial tree, all alone, thinking by oneself. A mentor of mine used to say, "Never ask for advice" as a way to highlight the power of one's instincts....Perhaps I'm perverting the sentiment. That aside, though, the larger part of me is excited to meet everybody and be turned onto some new stuff. It seems like a very open-minded board made up of all different personal practices. Looking forward to talking with you soon Ell

  13. Nei Gong Forum?

I'm thinking about creating a nei gong forum, but first I need to anyone would be interested in participating. If you're wondering why I'm thinking of doing this it's because, for the most part, the only reason I'm on TTB in the first place is to follow nei gong/mo pai related threads and sort of keep an eye on what's going on. However, as it turns out, I think it's quite obvious that TTBs is a good place for these threads. It is my opinion that there needs to be a separate forum for Mo Pai/nei gong related topics. Anyone agree with this? Who all would be interested in participating in a nei kung forum?
  14. Hello

I'm 25, with a daughter and wonderful husband. I'm the only "Taoist" I know. I might not be the best at following the Tao ( I only today found out we have gods!) But I do my best, and know that's all I can do. I live in the mid west and would love to know more about the way and people who might be like me. I get very lonely sometimes. I try to live as an un carved block and passively while respecting and honoring the cycles of nature both in the world around me and my self...So uhmmm Hello!

  17. Hello, pleas help

Hello im an 19 year old from Slovenia. Have just finished high school and going to study electro engineering. I have had an interesting upbringing and am a atheist and a nihilist. I have a long term relationship with my girlfriend. I wanted to improve our sex life and after searching i found the book Taoist secrets of love: cultivating the male sexual energy by Mantak Chia. I have read the book and had began to practice testicle breathing and scrotal compression. Because I had some problems with SC i did a search and got really confused. So i want to ask you, since you have experiece: HOW BEST TO BEGGIN? I want do practice sexual tao and later move on to other stuff, since doing this is already new for me. I want to be able to last long in bed and bring amazing orgasms to me and my girlfriend. What is the best way to do this. Should I go by the book? Or as some have suggested open the MCO. Also what to do about sex and ejaculation? If you could post a schedual of how I should proced I would be most grateful. Much thanks
  18. What is right for me?

Hello, So I am interested in meditation which will lead to 'higher' planes. I have started with trying to find my spirit guides, and think I have contacted them once. I am also interested in magick but the only references I have are franz bardon. the type of magick i would be interested in would be, if possible, to do through knowledge gained in meditation or something I can do alone, but without alot of space. I am just very interested, as a beginner, for where to start so I can see/experience what my journey. I like it to feel as 'real' as possible. I don't have a set place but I am looking for the start place so I can become more spiritually aware and then deicide my path. Thanks!
  19. Hey! I'm new

Hey, I have been interested in spiritual growth for a while but am just beginning to get serious. I have Franz Bardon and I think it is a good start but I am not sure how much I relate to the specifics of his dogma. So I have been going on my own with particular interest in spirit guides and such. I believe i contacted them (3 of them) once but it was breif and our communication was brief and uninformative. I am looking for guidance on meditation practise because I am severely undertaught on the subject. All in all i have been really impressed with what i have seen/experienced in my short personal attempts and want to dive deeper in. I need some guidance to point me in the right direction. My beliefs about spirits and God are not classified in any category that i know (and I'm in philosophy ) so it is my own belief and it is shaping well through my early attempts. Please message or reply if you can help me out! Thanks!
