darebak - I think its cute! Then again I am relaxed by Doom Metal so maybe it is disturbing.

Its my little girl after tearing a basket of berries limb from limb.

The really scary thing now that she is almost 4 is that her personality matches the photo perfectly...

Awesome.

Now that makes total sense ... ripping through a basket of berries, how delightful!

Perhaps you will post an updated photo in the Gallery section for us? :)

MY GOD :o:o . The things you kids have been up to since Ive been away !!

Just got another chance to log on,checked out this thread, & now Im overcome with pretend mock-horror

All this raunchy chatter, you young whipper-snappers

Seriously though,

MichelleD, I make no claim as to understanding your real intentions on this thread. But as I live half a world away & am probabaly twice your age, you can be assured this isnt some kind of pickup line ( I dont see myself travelling to America anytime soon).

You (& anybody else reading this) might be interested in a neat little book Ive just reread called THE LOVER WITHIN by Julie Henderson.

Its not so much a another "Tantric" sex manual, but rather a great compiliation of 'pre-Tantric' exercises, solo or with a partner, dealing with the movement of erotic energy in the bodymind & ones psychological reactions to that.

Henderson seems to emphasise getting a deep familiarity with your orgasmic energy first before trying any kind of yogic 'sublimation',& acheiving insight into ones personal psychology & motives in the process.

Have any of the Bums ever read this & tried it out? I would be interested to hear peoples opinions of its usefullnesss.

Michelle, wellcome to the forum, whoever you really are :)

Regards,Cloud.

At the risk of coming across in the negative, it seems like a stuttered, borderline personality mindgame played online.

If some unknown girl seriously approached any of you with an offer like that, would you hit it? Under the auspices of Taoist sexual practice, or simply drunk at the bar?

Pussy is to men as flame to moths, indeed.

Glad to know that even after being MIA for awhile I can still return to this site and find threads that are simultaneously freaky and enlightening.

Stephane Hemon made an interesting addition to the PUA maxim that "attraction is not a choice": It's true that attraction cannot be directly suppressed or altered, BUT, changing one's *belief system* is indeed a choice. If you examine, interrogate, and consciously change your core belief system, you automatically find yourself attracted to new qualities and uninterested--if not repelled--by qualities you once valued in your old belief system.

I lived this out in my own life a few years ago, transforming from "Cap'n Save-a-ho" to "Captain Just-Say-No" over the course of a few months. I used to be attracted to women who were physically beautiful but manipulative attention-hounds; however, a series of circumstances, some externally imposed and some self-generated, ushered in a paradigm shift for me. It indeed came down to the realization that the best attraction dynamics occur when *I* am the qualifier, rooted in the life plan that most satisfies me, and only making room for women with the "adequatio" to appreciate that . . . with the result being that I had no further interest in or tolerance for energy-sapping histrionics. There's just no "lift" in that for me, so to speak. In the meantime, the right partner came along and our love feels like a Barry White song--my most masculine self leading the dance with her most feminine self, our rhythm regularly punctuated by a deep, mantra-like, cosmos-caressing YEAAAAAAAAAH. :D

Anyway, peace to all on the quest for understanding energy and attention, and their optimal applications.

Pietro--Congrats on making it to Ireland at last!

Yoda--Could you post the dragondoor thread with the "crying game" surprise?

On dragondoor.com it was "Cory Marie" I don't know if it was a hyphen in there or not. She was quite the flirt and very outrageous until she was exposed. If you search Cory Marie or "crying game" I think you'll find the thread unless Pavel deleted the whole thing in revulsion of Western values. She even got pregnant and had a cyberbaby! :)

I love shit like that.

what's unreal about shaving?

why can't someone accept the reality of shaving?

Tao is about 'reality as it is'... not 'reality as you, or I or some sage think is natural'

I asked the shaving question way back on the first page more as a reaction to Michelle D's pre-occupation with her partner's appearence.

Freeform makes this point to good purpose here. Who is to say what is natural when it is already part of our shared reality? The Tao accepts the changes we choose to make to our lives as we live in the world and try to manifest our intent and adapt to all the other changes being wrought throughout the world. The Tao, if it has a consciouness,!!??!!... couldn't care less why we do what we do much less what we do.

Our consciosness and intent should give/lend/have some meaning to our own lives. The values we place on any of it has no real meaning in the Tao. What is - is just being - and each of us give it our own value and/or meaning as we will...

The shallowness of this offer, having a joke as its real intent', amusing as it may be, has certainly superceded its seriousness. So it may be best to take this discussion to a new thread...

Dude / Dudess.

Natural are the things that happen without your intervention. Like your hair growing. The first 20-something years. Then stopping. Or thinking about sex (and then stopping? :-). Getting hungry. Or angry :-)

The things that we humans don't touch and they go on their own way, a.k.a. Nature, where "Natural" comes from.

That's what "reality as it is" is.

Not Gillette :-)

Well, there is a reality of the fashion of shaving, but that doesn't make it natural (unless you get on Wayfarer64 point, and we should indeed move it somewhere else then). The growing of the hair on your body is the Natural thing - it is on the man, but not caused by him. Why can't you accept that !? :-)

And as Eric says below (sorry man, didn't read the posts), the point of course is, that you can't be looking at this practices which work with energies and are on spiritual level and be still concerned with the looks. Especially if you don't ask your partner if he doesn't object the way you look :-)

The first Tantra teacher I met was one of the fattest women I had seen by then (lived in Europe at the time and she came from the US :-). Yet she knew and could teach a lot, because Kundalini doesn't get better cultivated in the good looking people. Or the shaved ones (again - the two things are not the same :-).

I hope that cleared, that I (or a sage) don't have to think anything about reality - it just IS.

My hairs grew few more unshaved microns while I finished that :-)

Good points Wayfarer64. No reason to get serious about a joke :-) But still can be used to bring unrelated serious questions.

evZENy,

I like your reply, thanks.

I know that outer looks and fashion seem unspiritual and superficial, and they certainly can be... and at the same time other people's spirituality might be empty and shallow in the same way...

Once there is a connection to the 'true self' or your core, you can do whatever arises in you... some people will feel an impulse to be fashionable, some feel an impulse to be unconcerned with looks... some feel they have to have sex with hundreds of partners and some feel they need to be cellibate... I'm saying that once there is connection with that deeper part of yourself, anything that arises is natural... it is natural by the very fact that it arose from that deep place.

Is it unnatural for a bird to intervene with the nature of their nest and start adding shiny blue objects to it?

indeed it's important to accept the hair growing on your body, but it's equaly important to accept your desire to shave, pleat, adorn, colour, perm it - if that desire comes from You and not cultural programing.

> Is it unnatural for a bird to intervene with the nature of their nest and start adding shiny blue objects to it?

No, it is not. The bird gets whatever it finds and considers useful.

Because there are more and more unnatural things available, there are more and more animals who die or damage themselves suffocated by, caught in, swallowed etc. our unnatural creations.

So their choice is natural. The chosen things are not :-)

Same with humans. Of course, everyone wants to be liked and works on changing themselves in a way to be (what one believes :-) more likable. It's also about the need to be unique. And of course, you can reach to the point, that you can generate a fashion of being unique (let's say piercing and tatoos), which by the definition of "fashion" makes you not so unique after all :-)

So as far as that is concerned I will some waht disagree with you, despite your valid points.

The way we shave, colour (you are not in the US? :-) etc our hairs, for example, is a question of fashion, hence it is cultural programming. 20 years ago in my country I haven't heard about waxing one's more intimate parts (kind of new in US too - read the history of the Brazilian Wax recently :-). Now it's a must.

Look at the chess hair in the James Bond movies - how it changes witht the years/episodes :-)

It is our desire to be like the others (so we don't get rejected) opposed to the other desire to be unique, that we follow in making these choices. Comparing the cultures even today or slicing a culture through the time you can see how the trends differ and change - about shapes, hair, clothes etc. They do sell artificial intimate hair in Japan that you add down there, while here on this site of the ocean painfully remove it! Go figure :-)

Don't recall any person of Tao to be concerned with these things. I guess that was my whole point.

I understand I don't follow in the currently accepted norm, but I don't plan to change my nature, so someone finds me less disgusting :-)

smiles :-)

Who is the really good teacher in Ireland, Pietro? I love Dublin, it's an easy city to live in.

This is an interesting thread. Would Michelle have got the offers she did, if she'd said she was a bit unattractive, but sincere?

Are you suggesting that you are a bit unattractive but sincere, with such an offer? :D Or are you just trying to point out that attractive women get more responses to sexual come-ons than sincere, but less attractive women do?

That all depends on the recipiant of the request, of course... I responded at first to what I thought was an honest person seeking to learn a new, perhaps healthier, way to share her sexuality. I admit if there was a, (or I had a mental) - picture af an extremely UNattractive woman for my mind to ponder, I would not have responded as I did. I would not have been attracted. But i would have been supportive. One does need to be attracted to give a positive response to such an offer.

In fact Michelle became quite unattractive to me - due to her insincerity. Even if she were a real knock-out -she still would have lost much of her charm by displaying such dishonesty. Honesty and openness are crucial to transcendant love-making.

Being attracted to a sexual partner is far more complex an issue than just good looks vs character. How many marriages have started full of passion and yet the partners never reached a state of compassion and thus there was no real and lasting love? There are just too many levels of connectedness to make a simple answer for ya. But rest assured physically attractive women get more attention from sexually active (and not gay) males than do the much less attractive. But there is someone, or even several someones -in the mythical Michelle's case - for everyone's taste alive. :P

And yes indeed Dublin is a great place to visit and live! I wish I had spent more time there!

The "trouble" with the question of attraction seems to be that our neurology has been structured in a way we don't know about... perceiving attraction in way we don't understand. Maybe when the human brain has evolved enough we will be able not to have to differentiate:

taken from an aticle found at

http://www.shaktitechnology.com/me_myTL.htm

this guy uses magnetic induction on certain brain structures... one of the results:

>>Just to show the power of an interhemispheric intrusion, I'll tell you a story. One day, I was in the middle of an anxiety attack, trying to stay focused on the sensation of anxiety, instead of going into fearful thoughts, I decided, consciously, to simply relax. At the time, I was looking at a television program where a pretty overweight woman was talking about something. As I relaxed, the sensations became more intense for a moment, and then sort of 'cracked'. All of a sudden I was looking at this woman and thinking "how gorgeous!". This woman, who I never would have looked at before this way, was SEXY!!!! The fear was completely gone, and replaced with .......well, you know.

To this day, I can admire and be attracted to many more 'types' of women than before. It seems to permanent. The point is that an episode of fear can induce its opposite In this case, pleasant desire. It can happen when an emotion is denied the usual cognitive outlets, so that the only place for it to go is into the same structure on the other side of the brain. The amygdala is associated with both recognition, and sexuality. I had simply experienced a lowering of the thresholds associated with recognizing potential sexual partners, so that now, I have broader tastes. I had put a strain on my amygdala, and it was released in an instant. A bit like an earthquake, leaving the landscape permanently changed..<<

and just because it is an interesting read:
