There was never a question in my mind about her voice. I have most of the LPs where she sang including one of her own. And true, she was a good voice for the band and their style of music. I had a great collection of 45s when I was a kid. Joined the Army and I never thought about putting them in storage. Other people got them and by the time I returned home on my first leave they were all gone. I have recovered most through buying LPs and CDs, many of which are considered collector's issues. I bought my first tape recorded in Germany in 1962(?). A Grundig. Had it for quite a while until someone ripped it off when I was on a leave/vacation. I went digital as soon as CD burners and music editing programs came on the market. All my LPs are digitized so I don't even play them any more. I'm still listening to DooWop music now. steve Posted November 12, 2017 John McLaughlin and friends exceeded expectations! (and they played my favorite Mahavishnu song - Trilogy) He's still got it at 75 - my wife, who doesn't really know their music, was floored. Jimmy Herring is a master - sounds alot like the young John. Etienne Mbappe was brilliant and Ranjit Barot, the 4th Dimension's drummer/singer really stood out. The old Mahavishnu stuff was the highlight of the concert - massive sound with 2 drummers, 2 bassists, 2 keys, 2 guitars, and a violin. For anyone interested, here are the setlilsts: Jimmy Herring and the Invisible Whip John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension plus everyone together doing Mahavishnu If anyone has the opportunity to catch him on this tour (his last), you won't be disappointed.
