Can jing be replenished?

Recommended Posts

Sex not much of a Jing issue for women. Childbirth and nursing are big consumers  of Jing for them as I understand it.

My understanding is that it’s lost through arousal not just desire. It’s the body’s physical response that burns it.   Arousal could be sexual in nature or it could be something else like stress starting a physical fight or flight reaction (arousal)  in the body.  For men it’s not the ejaculation, it’s the body  physically getting ready for ejaculation that burns the Jing. I think it’s an important distinction because it provides a better opportunity to manage it.

I don't feel any effect of arousal that compares to the effect of ejaculation. Most likely it is hearsay rather than actual happening.

The need to lessen your desire to reach enlightenment is not needed anymore in my humble opinion.

I would say sex with love will actually open your heart more than someone who just meditates. It is real rather than fake and dry.

Enlightenment according to the Buddha isn't opening the heart. It's ending suffering.

Do you feel there is difference between romantic love and altruistic love?

Why do you think the Mahayana Buddhist practice is centered around cultivating bodhicitta, i.e. altruistic love? Could it make meditation more powerful by any chance?

Romantic love is about attachment. Altruistic love is the opposite.

In the foundation of buddhism, the four noble truths, and the second truth the Buddha said that the cause of suffering is attachment. To say that this is no longer necessary to deal with to become enlightened goes against the very root of what the Buddha taught.

We tend to look for excuses to justify our strongest attachments.

Please provide an example of non attached romantic relationship. Real life, not in theory.

Even Eckhart Tolle says it is not possible to have relationships without attachments.

There is more to life than Buddhism. Do you get that humans evolve?

I don't think there can be non-attached romantic love.

What does humans evolving have to do with ending suffering as the Buddha taught?

Let me not to the marriage of true minds

Admit impediments. Love is not love

Which alters when it alteration finds,

Or bends with the remover to remove.

O no! it is an ever-fixed mark

That looks on tempests and is never shaken;

It is the star to every wand'ring bark,

Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.

Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks

Within his bending sickle's compass come;

Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,

But bears it out even to the edge of doom.

If this be error and upon me prov'd,

I never writ, nor no man ever lov'd.

Hello all,

I've been masturbating since I was 13, I'm now 28. Before I would masturbate about 3-4 times a day when I was about 16 but after my girlfriend left me when I was 20 this habit got destructive. I masturbated out of sheer frustration, thinking about her having sex with another man. This led me down I dark path where I was actively trying to destroy my genitals and myself; I masturbated about 8-10 times per day during that time. I would masturbate until my penis hurt and nothing came out.

I've been trying to kick the habit for sometime now but It's proving difficult. When I was 24 i started having complications with what started with the head of my penis (itching/burning) which progressed to the urethra and has now found its way to my scrotum. I'm starting to feel the effects of masturbating on my whole body now when I participate in the behaviour and I noticed that my body does not simply spring back to vitality anymore. Now when I masturbate it hurts my lower back and belly bottom during ejaculation. I regret my decisions so much that i'm filled with dread.

Became curious in neidan about a year ago and I've realized that I was destroying one of my 3 treasures all this time (jing). Is it possible to replenish it? is it possible to heal?

Sometimes I feel like I've fucked this life up and the only way forward is a restart of some sort. Any advice.

Yes. Possible with correct methods. Jing is replenished as foundation for Neidan.

Start psychotherapy, plenty of therapists have acquired expertise on this and will be able to help you.

It's a theme especially amongst the younger generation. There's literally a porn epidemic in younger ages which is turn has brought a masturbation epidemic, which prevents them from being able to enjoy a healthy sexual life.

Can't comment on the energy/jing parts of your post as I'm not familiar with these, imo just go for solving the root cause and therapy is the best way to do it.

Best of luck and there's nothing to be ashamed of, any therapist worth their salt will talk to you non-judgementally and will either help you or refer you to someone who can.

In terms of efficiency and cost psychotherapy is pretty bad. 150 eur per hour and how many hours do you need? 10-20?

Compared to cheap energetic transmissions for healing methods I have already provided a few times, approx 10 eur for a lifetime of healing.

The thing is the efficacy of psychotherapy has been shown through both experience and clinical research. How is one to know what the efficacy of your method is?

I'm a naturally curious and inquiring person so I'll try almost anything at least once or a few times or many times to see if there is something to it (or at least I used to be this way). That being the case I have had several people that claimed to do energy healings or attunements or what ever they called them on me. I never noticed anything at all.... ever.

It's different to try something out of curiosity/interest etc and different to actively seek treatment, like the OP.

Whoever is actively seeking treatment needs to work with someone who is qualified to treat.

Those "cheap energetic transmissions" mentioned by a poster above don't sound qualified.

Says a person with zero interest or experience.

You mean experience in advising "cheap energetic healing" instead of seeing qualified health/mental health professionals?

Is that supposed to be a badge of honour?

The assumption, projection and ignorance regarding this topic is monumental and seems to only be gaining inertia which is heart breaking to witness.

Maddie and Luke have both offered some very practical and sound advice that is in line with what I've experienced as a long term practitioner of two Northern Daoist lineages, both with 18th generation acknowledged lineage holders.  Wang LiPing and Zhou Ting Jue.  I've also been dual cultivating with my partner of 35 years and can attest from personal experience instituting the knowledge garnered from my lineages and my own application of such, that sexual union in the midst of joyful loving open hearted connection builds jing, not diminish it.

Two things both of my lineage teachers consistently shut down at retreats is complete abstinence and the micro cosmic orbit.  Both of which for some reason have taken rabid hold of the Western mind (particularly among those who study through books, online or just make up their own process based on 'heard some stuff somewhere').

It's heartbreaking to witness and hard to watch it peddled here where it is so readily encountered by well meaning seekers without a legitimate lineage or teacher to safeguard them.

You stand to lose far more in your guilt, shame and mental obsessions.

Instead of obsessing over what you are worried about... try this.  Find one thing that really lights up your heart and your joy.  Anything.  Commit to engaging in that activity even three times a week for three months and keep a journal about your overall emotional state, energy levels and state of life.

Instead of spending energy on what you fear.

Engage your energy on something you absolutely love.

It's entirely possible to thrive and open your heart and have vitality that vaults to the heavens.

Fear, shame and guilt are your greatest drainers of jing, vitality and health.  And that is not just my experience, it's backed up by two established 1,200 year old lineage schools with unbroken succession lines.

TT, your concern and care for folks is endearing.

In the case of Master Zhou, you must be invited to the class.  This doesn't happen until you've prepared the foundation.

And Master Wang has discussed the orbit, but described it not in how to try and force it open but to elucidate how we need not concern ourselves with it (since it's perpetually requested by students from the west) particularly emphasized not to try and force it open as when conditions are primed by foundation work, the MCO which is a natural function that opens of its own accord.  Then it becomes but another tool in the kit of cultivation.  It is not a goal, nor anything to be sought.

It is not taught to beginners, nor pushed as a goal.

May this lighten your burden mate.

means the guru answers no free questions. these topics are available for extra fee after much stringing-on.

Of course not. Because making the MCO a goal (heck making anything a goal) would make the guru accountable if the student will not reach the goal (and no student ever will, of course). Hence no goals, just chill.

It means they don’t place much of an importance on it as the people asking about it.

It seems like the lineages that are legit do not promote complete abstinence and do not have practices that force open the MCO, but allow it to occur naturally when your body is ready.
