You make a valid point. Going forward I will do so. Do you present an opportunity for me to chase down?

Maybe.  It migth be for you , it might not .

Each to their own.

First I would say , where do you live, do you have a connection to earth and nature , that could be a good tradition for you if you have that connection.

next, what is your ancestry , do you have a genetic connection to a certain people and those traditions.

I would use those propensities to start focusing on a tradition or teaching that might best suit you .

that last post was in answer to the one above yours .

You didnt comprehend ?  and answer the  question properly - again .  So we are stuck again .

Do you have a connection to the land and nature where you live ?

Ethnic genetic rootes are not religious roots like Hindu and catholic are .

Its okay to ask what I mean if you dont understand what I say .

You have persevered a bit though, and that is good.

My ancestors, genetically are  Galitian / Irish Celts - so I 'resonate with that tradition.

In 'programming' I am a 'westerner' or 'European'   , so I have a resonance and attraction to those traditions .

I'm connected strongly to nature an my environment and the energies there , so I want to know  more about that, and how to live properly here in harmony with the land , so I am attracted to that tradition.

I am  not related to Hinduism or native American tradition, and etc.  by birth or land, so , although they are valid, they are not in my 'portfolio ' and I dont see why people get so into those things if they dont have a connection with them ... maybe they think they are 'cool' or something ?

So I was trying to work out or qualify what system might fit you better .     Although  to an extent , I encourage eclecticism .

Thats why I wanted to know if you have connection to land and what your ethnicity is .

Or we could just run with the western tradition.

And although it IS a secret tradition, it  CAN be outlined here as long as one does not reveal the exact form and wording of ceremony and ritual.  For example, I have already done part of that when I suggested you were blind (at this stage )  - you dont really know who to trust or believe in, are they concerned with your progress and advancement or ... otherwise ?

In a ceremony, whether it be in my tradition, Freemasonry, Wicca , Fellowship of Isis, The Golden Dawn etc  The first part of the first initiation the candidate is blindfolded in representation of this .   I can go through the whole system like that .

The issue is, if you ever decide to do these things in action, it might be spoiled for you or 'not learnt wholly'

For example I can tell you,   when you ride a roller coaster, better hang on, dont do anything foolish, you will go up and down real fast, maybe have fear or maybe laugh. It might be fun, if it doesnt  put you back out , thats why the back seat is worse and the front more fun.  Now compare that with the experience of riding it yourself .   Like telling someone what an orange tastes like is nothing like doing it yourself.

Initiation sets up a deep learning experience so 'you get it' on a deeper level .  Recent studies have shown this is a better way to learn, phenomenal results have also been shown, but in this case they use   AR (augmented or artificial reality )   learning . similar thing, you are exposed to sights ,smells, actions, words, motifs, designs, etc .

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augmented_reality

This has been going on since the Palaeolithic ;

I recommend watching the entire doco .

One last thing for now ;  before one even entered 'the sanctuary' , even before the 'blindfold' or the long entrance of darkness, they would have known, or seen the prime axiom  (in Greek times written above the entrance ;

Man -  know  thyself  !

So really, that is the first stage .  And for that I cant recommend anything better than

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthropology

Expect to do a LOT of background reading, in any case .

For a general background,  easy read , I recommend  the essentially important

" In his dazzling history of the imagination, Patrick Harpur links together fields as far apart as Greek philosophy and depth psychology, Renaissance magic and tribal ritual, Romantic poetry and the ecstasy of the shaman, to trace how myths have been used to make sense of the world. He uncovers that tradition which alchemists imagined as a Golden Chain of initiates, who passed their mysterious secret fire down through the ages.

As this inspiring book shows, the secret of this perennial wisdom is of an imaginative insight: a simple way of seeing that re-enchants our existence and restores us to our own true selves. "

Those of you who have seen my other posts will know that I am an advocate of free sharing and distribution of all kinds of knowledge. This post is an open area by which those who are willing can share the secrets of their sect, or just any occult/spiritual mysteries they know about.  I am interested in all groups/societies (ordo templi orientis, hermetic order of golden dawn, eastern mysticism, theosophy, or any gurus like Sadhguru, Yogananda etc.)

I REALLY appreciate this response. I have ordered the book you mentioned. Additionally in regards to what you said about those western traditions, what are their goals? I know a little bit about Regnus Agnus Mundi (RAM) the lineage followed by Paulo Coelho the author. Also I’m curious, besides your society are you also a member of the other ones, and aware of their “secrets”?

Li Ehr (sometimes spelled Li Er) is the personal name of the historical person who wrote The Laozi; and over time he came to be known as Laozi. The name of The Laozi was later changed to the TaoTeChing as organized "'Taoist" groups evolved- for marketing purposes, part of which was the need to claim multiple authorships of the work. That 'need' still exists, today; but I'm not inclined to argue over it.

Their goals are  basically  similar, but some have morphed or been forgotten.  They are basically 'secret societies' or initiatory societies ; that is, a 'sub-set' or 'clan' within a society that has a special function.  two things ;

1. All  societies, through all time and different localities, all over the earth, have some form of this  ( I know as studied Cultural Anthropology at University and have continued studying it since for the last 30 + years  -in chair and field  { that is , in books and film, etc,  and  also  got practically involved in it }  ) .  Basically it is a process of education into society ( generally or specifically into a clan )  and the 'trade off ' - your 'individuality '  /  a member of a collective . Also, who you are, how to behave and what benefits you can expect to get for  that trade off .   Or , in psychological terms it is  development of a  balanced ego between 'Id'  ( totally self centred drives )  and the 'super ego '  ( human considerations, morals, ethics, etc ) .

Also,  societies want people that are balanced and developed and educated, so that is part of the  process as well,

There are basically three levels of  initiation 9symbolised by birth life and death )  ; generally, and specifically tribally ,   the child is born like a helpless baby animal , which it is. The first initiation  )or series of them )  is  into the tribe or group, the 'animal' has become a 'person' , they will be expected to act beyond their animal drives and desires .  They move towards initiation into manhood or womanhood and gain understanding and knowledge of themselves . The have become a social creature.

After that the person is transformed into a  'magician' ,  basically  ;   a wise man, elder, guardian, shaman,  monk, etc .

2,  Due to societies changing and developing the aim changed; social development and education were done in many ways, also 'religion for the masses'  but the initiatory societies concentrated on the development of the individual .  The more liberal ones realised, mankind's progress and enlightenment does not seem to come from average movements and will of majority, it is through inspired, often solitary, genius , So they  pushed for that .   That is mostly their aim .  As a Freemason once put it, essentially , it is about ' how should a young man  " make his way in the world " .

We could even say ;   what is the  best  way for a young man to get what he wants .    You probably realise this  best is going to have a lot of qualifications .  More on that  later .

a 3rd point is ,  a lot of these techniques are psychologically powerful (if not magically ) , perhaps even dangerous, for some .

Pandoras box and all that .   That depends on what you 'got bottled up inside of you' , in any case, you will have to deal with that somehow.   That is why doing things in a correct order is important , Basics need to be learnt . for the 'magical stuff' .

And that means that some groups will use them NOT to help you develop yourself and gain libertaion but became cult like and averse and try to use these techniques and processes not to liberate you to your own trye individualuty but to enslave you to their cult or master ,

Mwa ha ha haaar .

Ooooh  , i happens  ,... from  top end of Scientology and 'Order of the Solar Temple'  *  right down to bottom end  'Order of the Golden Phoenix '   .

*  After the cops found the bodies , in 'temple complex .  An escaped member was asked ' Why did you believe this crap ? You are an intelligent man and an engineer and have a stable mind ? "

He said he doubted it all until in one ritual he saw an  apparition of the Holy Grail beaming and shining over the  altar. he said nothing but asked another later if he saw anything, the man described exactly what he saw, without any prompting..  He asked others; same thing.  So he thought it was real .  It seemed real .

When the cops pulled the place apart  and got to the temple in the basement , they found a holographic projector built into the altar .

:rolleyes:

Anywyz .  Thats  basic aim .   Some groups specialise in more magical development.

I am a retried .'  , A did a lot of  'all that '    and also on an admin level ; being national secretary and assistant to IHQ (international level).   I dropped out some time back  when I hit 'hermit' then spent the time getting into Aboriginal Shamanism .

yes, I am aware of some other societies 'secrets' ; some are  impressive, some pathetic, some outdated superseded.

Hey Nungali, than k you for your posts.

So basically western (at least outer/surface) occult traditions have the ultimate goal of some form of maturisation into adulthood in the mundane sense? This includes Golden Dawn, OTO, etc etc. ?
