The 256 year old man

Recommended Posts

I've verified the historical existence of his alleged last main disciple, General Yang Sen. However, I am still trying to verify the existence of his alleged book, "A Factual Account of the 250 Year-Old Good-Luck Man" or Li ChingYuen himself?

Perhaps someone in Taiwan could see if that book truly exists, or someone in Brazil could ask Liu ChihMing about the veracity of this legend?

(Cuz if you just search the English internet - you basically only find the same blurb reposted over and over...)

U guys ever hear of this guy? I was reading up on herbs when I came to Gotu Kola and this guy. Interesting story. Just more reason to become an herbalist and learn martial arts XD

yeah he was in the new york times on his 255th birthday. i have seen the microfilm, its nutty. i couldnt believe it at first (that the NYT would report on it, not that someone could live that long)

hahaha herbs and rice wine. there is a recipe for his wine in daniel reid's "Tao of health sex and longevity" p 339

li ching-yuen had 14 wives and died with all his hair and teeth looking 50 years old

256 years on Planet Earth? Please, no...

Haha, there's a rumor that before he died he said something along the lines of "I've done everything I can do on this planet, I'm done here". Something tells me he wasn't spending 100% of his time strictly on planet earth if ya catch what I mean ;p

How about Trailanga Swami, simply incredible.

Yeah incredible.

What about Devraha Baba ,in India they are saying he was about 400 years old not 200.

One thing I know for sure is that all people I spoke to about him and some of them are spiritual teachers themselves would go to him for learning and inspiration.

Just putting it out there.

As I recall one of the ingredients in Daniel Reids long life wine was human placenta!! male & female sea horses too I think.

If his age was true (& I'm skeptical) then whatever skills he had weren't transferable. His wives, children and disciples (like the General mentioned) seem to have lived and died normally.

yeah he isn't the be-all-end-all of immortals or anything. But his age is a matter of chinese dynastic records and totally verified, so he did accomplish longevity! which is pretty awesome

mmmmm placenta

"are you gonna eat that?"

The only story of a old man ??? is Moses. Then again the story of the Tibetan mountian man. Both over 250 years old.. The only thing there is no proof of anyone in our world that lived over a 125 years and was even close to be able to prove it.

I guess people are wishing upon a star.

I'm shooting for the age of "die when i'm done"

I've felt done for a while. Still here though. Can't imagine how decrepit I'll be in five more years much less another 50.

256? idk 197? perhaps. in either case he did live another 106 years after he had been publicly celebrated to have reached 150.

he was not a vegan. he ate chicken and turtle. my guess is that somewhere in his adventures in the mountains foraging for herbs,

he found a 200 year old ginseng root and consumed it.

zhang sanfeng may have also lived about 200 years but his situation was very different from li yuen's.

we age by the choices that we make.
