You are wrong. It is a lived experience. Nothing conceptual.

Let action come from True Nature. If action comes from conditioned self, it will result in harm. Has nothing to with nature as animals, forests etc.

Does Wu not mean non-being or emptiness? Then acting from emptiness = Wu Wei is the most accurate translation. Means acting without self-interest. Doing means when self is active and doing things with intention to reach a goal. Nature as spoken of here is your True Nature, The Golden Elixir as named in some Taoist texts. All we are doing here is going back to that nature by whatever practice we deem necessary. Some people overlook it because it is invisible, non-tangible and might appear mundane. It is the opposite of passion, excitement and entertainment for the mind. The seeking for it is the impulse coming from itself. Listen to this voice. See where it is coming from.

Sorry deleted due to the OP not showing what is deemed as "correct etiquette." 1. Many people devote their entire lives to heal and charge money accordingly. You pay for your services and you get help. 2. As above, there are also others who have little clue of healing and they still charge. Let's hope one doesn't seek help from this category because you'll never heal yourself. 3. In Asian countries that I'm familiar with, China and Taiwan, there are some highly experienced practitioners that not only don't charge but also don't even bother to help those who experience energetic trouble. They just remain anonymous and good luck finding them unless you have a letter of recommendation as well as knowing who they are in the first place. You can offer them a million bucks and they won't even bother. It's what is called the clock More about that here: Master-student relationship

Fire from the Heavenly Stem hits the stable where the Horse has been chomping at the bit for 60 years. The Horse jumps out of the burning gate and takes off galloping, mane fiery, tail ablaze. It never fails to leave its hoof prints on the world's politics, economy, and landscape. Here are some of them: 1846 Mexican–American War begins, reshaping the future borders of the U.S. Peasant uprising in Galicia, future Ukraine, engineered by the occupying Austrian empire against the local Polish nobility. 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire, one of the worst urban disasters in U.S. history. Mount Vesuvius eruption in Italy, a major disaster affecting Naples and surrounding regions. 1966 Cultural Revolution begins in China, profoundly reshaping society and politics. Flooding in Italy destroys a lot of cultural heritage in Florence and Venice. A major escalation in the Vietnam war. 2026 -- ? Of course there were good things happening too. The type of qi known as the Fire Horse can be quite transformative and, under the right circumstances and given the right treatment, energizing, illuminating, and magnificent. But it's the most volatile kind of them all, unpredictable and not easily governable. Let's hope no pale riders manage to mount it.

Happy new year! A few weeks ago I posted this mani essay - then got an itch to rewrite a poorly written paragraph. I'm afraid I'm going senile because, turns out, there was a ton o' rewrite to do - and I feel better that I've hacked through that. Now, posting this mani mantra ~ secret style essay to the community to kick the tires, testing for bullet-proof: #1 does it communicate clearly? I'm trying to make the concepts commonly accessible (not just to us esoteric nerds) #2 other editorial comments https://johndaoproductions.wordpress.com/2025/12/15/mani-mantra-secret-style-a-primer/ cheers, Trunk

You need to ask yourself that ... very early on you seemed to be asking me, if your perception that I understood it , was right , and I replied yes . But then you kept trying to find holes in what I was saying and then coming up with a lot of strange and unusual and self conflicting responses . I cite the responses others gave you as this just not being my subjective opinion . it seems an ongoing thing with you Mr. Dragon

You say it yourself here ; 10.道生之,11.德畜之。12.長之育之。13.亭之毒之。14.養之覆之。15.生而不有,16.為而不恃,17.長而不宰。18.是謂玄德。10. Tao engenders it,11. Te rears it.12. Grow it and nourish it,13. Let it grow to maturity,14. To foster it and protect it.15. Engenders it but not possess it.16. For it but not restraining it,17. Raise it but not controlling it,18. It was called divine virtue. Line 15 and 17 explain my viewpoint and I take them as advice on how to act .... not advice about non action . line 15-17 also describe actions and the 'way' to act .

Again ... what do you mean ? I can wu wei my water supply by diverting the run off that comes from the rain and following the contour down to my water tank . OR I could be 'un natural' and burn fossil fuel and start a water pump and pump it up hill against gravity . I can control how the rain hits the ground , or me , or stop it doing those things ; in these actions I can apply wu wei ( least interference ) or 'go against the 'nature of things ' and do it the hard way . I can build a roof or put up a sunshade . here we are having a demonstration of why you cant understand what I am saying . I never suggested such 'magical ' or un natural operations in the first place . I am suggesting wu wei is a way of action ... when we need to act . Not non action at all ... which you seem to think it is . Dude ! Thats a bad example . I live in a cabin on the edge of a forest .... I have been slacking off and not cleaning for ages .... and now you ask me about spider webs and if I can stop a spider building a web ? Answer ... I can , I just been slack You are groking things that you yourself are supposing .... but you are not grokking what I am saying . and I venture to suppose .... I am not the only person here having this 'communication problem' with you .

Without getting too much into it (as its a bit taboo to talk about the later stuff) there are very tangible results from successful neidan practice If you find a proper teacher you should develop the capabilty to feel the "real" lower dantien 24/7 fairly quickly, once you're past that point you'll always know that what you're doing is real

If you trust wu wei as a principle, you must let it happen. The more you is there, the less it happens. I am a straw dog, and will be stashed away between performances, Dao continues to flow. Feel the Dao in every moment. I trust this moment more than I trust what I think about it.

These two lines are saying that Tao is eternal. It cannot be named with any name. You can't talk about it just with words. Tao, here, is a thing that is indescribable. In the later chapters, Tao was not just a thing. The actions of Tao will become the principles of Tao. An intellectual understanding has to go more deeper into reading the TTC. Reading one line or two do not give the whole picture of the TTC. One will see Tao, sometimes, is a principle tao(lower case). When Tao is capitalized, it is Tao itself. Ofc, in Chinese do not have the luxury to capitalize the characters as in English. However, it was done mentally in a native mind.

Volition is a delusion we carry around with this idea that we are separate beings in the world with agency. It is actually a simple misunderstanding that is entirely clarified with the dawning of realization, though it is very possible to get a taste of it in meditation IF you are looking and it has been pointed to.

I have read many definitions. One that I would say is closest to what is being described is: effortless action. Where there is the living experience of the Dao, there is no "I" to "interrupt the course of nature", instead what there is happens as the "effortless action" of reality.

If you want a good example of Wu Wei, I think you have already incorporated in your practice. Good job! 👏

Do you yourself understand it? How about this: Wu Wei arises is the understanding that enlightenment and the world of separateness occupy the same space, though one of them is a "deeper" reality. To a person who experiences the world as a "self", there is a world of separate objects, and a "self" with agency that interacts with them. From the experience of enlightened mind it is obvious that the separateness is a delusion, and that the unity of things takes care of itself. The way this appears is from the same perspective, but with two ways of seeing - there is still the appearance of a body that interacts with the world, but from the enlightened perspective this action is not the product of volition but the action of reality itself acting as a wholeness. No amount of reading or pouring over translations and commentaries will ever yield an understanding of the non-dual nature of reality, of which Wu Wei is only a single intellectual perspective. The broader realization isn't an intellectual understanding, and the reality of it will never match an intellectual idea about its nature. The only path to understanding Wu Wei is in having it become your permanent experience through realization.

Yes, 为無为。 Wu Wei is a compound character and stand alone. The first Wei can be a single character in the phrase. The translation is "for Wu Wei." For example, I will do this for Wu Wei .

Many Moons ago ... I was in a Wiccan coven , we had three fire horses in it ; one was an Aries and the other two a Leo and a Sagg It was a fun group . I made good friends with the Aries fire horse ... wow , just walking down the street with her ! - I'll tell just one story about her ; we had a pervy guy here that really annoyed everyone , any new woman that turned up he immediately 'went after ' ... he was also naturally 'urksome' so was not having much success . So my fire horse friend is visiting, he immediately starts hanging around . We go down to the river and a few people are there , we had a small sweat lodge by the river then and someone had been using it, the fire was still going . My friend was ''Oh cool ! A sweat lodge .'' strips naked and goes in . Pervy guy jumps up '' I will have a sweat too ! and drops his swimming shorts and goes in . After a few minutes he comes rushing out looking totally freaked out and doing this little hurried jog like a little boy rushing to the toilet holding his hands over and shielding his 'Pee-pee' , he grabbed his shorts and took off . Then my friend came out smiling . I asked her what she did to him ... but she would never tell me .

You are not controlling the rain falling from the sky. You are only controlling the water on the ground. If you are falling from a building, can you reverse the falling and go back up the building?

Yes, Nature do provide me with foods to eat. Perhaps to eat is not intentionally. I don't eat when I am not hungry. When I am hungry, I feed myself is because it is a natural thing for me to do. If I don't feed myself and resulted in death, then I am violated the law of Nature. If it is because you are making that statement about eating carrot and bok choy signifying that I should not eat in violating the conscpt of Wu Wei. Then, you are too is because have an intention of some kind. Let me give you a good example for the violation of Wu Wei. There is this couple desperately wanted their son to be a doctor. Sadly, the son wants to be an artist. It was just because the son wanted to please the parents. So, he spent few miserable years to get a medical degree. As soon, he got his degree and handed over to the parents. The next day, he committed suicide. The result was that the parents did not let nature take its course on its own and caused the tragedy. Sorry to say, I am related to the family.
