Can we add a 'Wow!' Emoji to our reaction options?

Recommended Posts

There's the "like" emojis, that we use to react to a post.

Then there's the "in-post" emoji's...

Currently, I don't know how to update either ... I might look into it when I get a chance.  (Bogged w/ meat-life stuff right now).

Can we have 2 wow emojis ?

One for  like, Wow man that was really good -  amazing  ..... awesome *   !

and another for  like , Wow , that really sucks,   you must be a real  x@!*x!#!*    x*x#$ !

:)

* having an 'awesome' emoji would not work as apparently now , awesome can be used for anything  ;

Me at  drive through into microphone ;   " Just  one cheese burger please ? "

" Anything else ? "

" No  .... Just  .... one ... cheese burger  ..... please . "

I get to window , teenager at window ; " What was it you wanted again ? "

Me; " Just one cheese burger   please . "

Window teenager ;   "   Awesome . "

Thank you, @steve!

So, again, two kinds of emoji's:

1. Responding to a whole post (just added the 'wow' to that).  Current intention is to keep these down to simple few.  'Wow' is it for now.

2. In-post emoji's.  Looking into how-to.

right, obviously we are not going to make it easier to issue insults.

so use of awesome or wow may retain some level of ambiguity.

Celebrate with a song

Yeah, adding a song to focus the imagery is a great idea, but I like this one better from the Troggs. When it came out in 1966, I heard it as ‘Wow Thing’.  Me, 12 years old then and loving the emerging sixties music scene. Listening to it again now for the first time in decades, I still hear it as ‘Wow Thing’.

" My Goodness George ! There I was getting off the train and there where these 'longhairs'  playing their 'rock and roll'  all over the railway station !   What on earth is the world coming to !  "

Could we please get a lightbulb emoji to react with 💡and one that says “there’s more to your post than meets the surface” … I would propose a stone cast in the water drawing circles or the like.⛲️

The lightbulb is different than thanks. Thanks to me is insightful teaching. Lightbulb is something that is interesting but not necessarily path wise and refers to something that has been bothering one for a long time in the dark.

Wow is not the “deep!” reaction. Wow is more shock or surprise. Not the deep contemplation or a impulse that influences and gets stronger with time.

I don’t want to appear confused all so often!

Wow isn´t deep?  I´ve read posts that leave me awestruck, that move way like I might be moved by a beautiful sunset or the ocean or a starry night sky.  I use the wow emoji to express my wonder and amazement.  In general, emoji use is very ideosyncratic and what people mean by a given symbol can vary.  I´ve seen the wow emoji used in a negative way, or what I took to be a negative way: as in "wow, I can´t believe this poster could be so mistaken/stupid/off base."  If you really want to communicate your reaction to a post accurately, I suggest using words.

Just my two cents.  That said, if people want to add more emojis to the list I´m not opposed really.  Why not?

Exactly, that’s what I think too. :)

I already think the last one added (the down vote) can go again. There’s one member that hardly posts anymore, just breezes in occasionally to scatter a bunch of downvotes. Imo if a person can’t be bothered to reply with some good arguments, then I am not interested in their negative ‘downvoted’ evaluation either.

I use the downvote to mean ‘I’m down with that’.  But I am unusual.
