Stillness Movement Neigong and Michael Lomax's 'Light Warrior's Guide' Book

Thanks again for the feedback. Actually i have another question. I know i never seem to run out of them.

Is there a connection between S-M and Embryonic Breathing (Belly Breathing). So far in my practice i have not really utilized the breath but simply centered my awareness on the LDT.

-My 2 cents, Peace

I have experienced embryonic breathing a few times after starting s-m even in ordinary Zhan Zhuang.

These days my breath is getting more subtle and I hardly feel any need to actually breathe when sitting. It seems the Qi is taking over.

Ya Mu,

A question for you: would it possible to create static stances (zhan zhuang) that incorporate s-m energetics?

In Gift of the Tao I there is a stance where you are standing still for some time, I wonder if there are more "out there/in the future"? :)

Though there is the question of efficiency if you don't have your hands on the dantien as in ordinary standing s-m.

How long do you spend on the Sequential move? I can't imagine wanting to spend the time doing just doing one static move instead of simply sinking a bit with the Sequential and extending the time, as so much more is going on energetically. Sometimes I take about an hour with it. The sinking does takes a bit of time to get used to.

That said, once a person has spent a bit of time with Stillness-Movement it is very difficult not to be tuned into the Stillness-Movement energetics no matter what exercise one does.

GOT 3 has some moving static moves (move then static - move then static - move then static) :)

Not enough time, I guess

^_^

Increasing time in Sequential = good idea.

Looking forward to GOT 3.

Hey Ya Mu, lately on the forum there has been a bit of talk about how ejaculation while practicing certain neigong systems such as the Mopai system can hurt you physically and also "hurt your dantien"....is this something that is at all relevant within the system you teach?

I know in your book you teach a method of pulling sexual energy back to the dantien, is this something that can only be done with a partner?

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions.

Hello YaMu/ anyone else familiar with this or wanting to answer some questions.

I am planning to go to your workshop in finland however in the middle of saving money and waiting to be paid. Looks pretty amazing. I am excited. Also I dont have a kindle or money for one so yeah cant buy a book yet either.

I have a few questions though.

1) I have been doing spontaneous practices for a while, actually only maybe a year but In india I was doing it very intensively, and noticed my hands started to move to certain positions, press in certain ways and basically heal myself, once in a trance rave I started tripping out. They mention this here... http://www.qigongchinesehealth.com/fiveanimalsplay is this something your practice does too. Today I woke up with a headache and started healing myself by putting my hands on various positions on my head.

2)In the past, students should demonstrate some morals before being allowed to train as what they learn may be dangerous, if what your doing is so powerful, is this also the case.

3) In energy practices, is it common to get possessed by demons or evil spirits and what do you do about this?

4) I have tight hips not extremely tight but pretty tight also generally am not as flexible as other people and feel this may hinder "development" is doing yoga bad? I know qigong has some stretches (more soft and gentle easing what feels natural) but in my opinion this would take a lot longer but also perhaps lead to looser muscles than yoga

Cheers

AFAIK Yamu has actually answered some of these queries elsewhere on the forum on other posts. Especially 'hurting your dantian'.

Everyone is different, how are YOU affected by ejaculation? Given that answer you should follow common sense on frequency of ejaculation.

Other/further answers to the above are in the book, which you reference, so I assume you've read it.

There are a LOT of stupid ideas floating around in the neigong community regarding daoism, neigong, sex, jing, ejaculation blah blah blah.

I have only ever heard common sense from Yamu, and given what he's said he only ever heard common sense from his teachers. Forgive him if he laughs at your questions, given some of his stories, it might simply be because history repeats itself.

If you think the method presented in the book is all about pulling qi into dantian, I would read it again personally. I will also say that one of the only other people I have found who teaches energy-work within sexual relationship that makes sense to me, teaches methods VERY similar.

I also want to point out that there is a BIG difference between being energetically awake and having sex, and trying to do sexual qigong/kongfu.

Yoga is ok. I know OldGreen does it, I sometimes do yoga and other physical stuff to stay fit and agile.

I have also benefited from somatics which many here can talk a lot about :)

Suggest you re-read what I wrote in the book.

The method I talk about is dual cultivation, and it is NOT about bringing energy back to dan tian. I understand why you may remember it that way as the basic system I talk about does.

Also, what snowmonki says about applying common sense makes a lot of (haha)common sense to me.

Basically I agree with what has been written about practicality. Something like 2 days in between for 20 years old, 3 for thirty, 4 for forty, etc. But retention methods are not the same thing as what happens when two neigong practitioners, male and female, do the dual cultivation method listed in the book. It is an entirely different thing and I know of nothing, except perhaps some of the more powerful shamanic ceremonies, that comes close to the spontaneous energy event that happens when this method is perfected by those who embrace the Stillness-Movement system.

1) maybe, no 2 situations are the same. Ours basically works by flooding the body with high vibration energy which helps remove sick qi, opens the channels, and strengthens and transmutes the energy body. So we usually don't get sick as often. No particular hand positions needed.

2) yes, absolutely. The system is self-governing.

3)no worries

4)yoga is fine. I have seen many people get carried away and injure themselves. As long as that good old thing mentioned above is applied (common sense), then it is OK. Our movements are very good at keeping the body loose, stretched, and the gates open. Suggest you do all the Gift of the Tao movements.

Thanks a lot read your book was amazing and did half an hour or so of sitting stillness movement.

The book answered my questions about morals, demons, and the first one.

Also tight hips and flexibility can be worked on just by sitting stillness movement it seems.

I have quite a good memory, especially when one of my teachers says something. It's a martial thing, you know, you might only be shown something once and then poof! its gone, and you won't see it again. But my memory is not eidetic. This trait I have seen most in martial guys, and some healers.

I recall what was said, not where it was said, as in exact posts. I'm afraid you will have to use the search engine. Now, I don't want to annoy you, so please bear in mind I am not saying he wrote an essay exactly delineating answers to your queries! I am saying that he has mentioned things that help to answer them. These may be a single line or small part of a post about other things.

So I'd look at his back posts, If you are interested in what Yamu teaches and has to say, regardless of whether you find exactly what you are looking for, you should still learn a bunch B) I know I always do :)

I will say, that I have put as much gongfu into learning to learn, as I have learning. Remembering what was said or shown by teachers is part of that for me. It's the spending 4 out of 6 hours to sharpen my axe....

The most common reasons for why we have "tight" joints, are usually not remedied through pulling or pushing the soft tissues. But releasing the nerves.

To speak briefly on a complex subject, there was a break in the transmission of 'kinesthetic tradition' of "good" body use that occured virtually globally in the late 19th and early 20th century (various potential reasons for this, but all debatable). There is evidence for this in Japan, China, India, and in America and Britain that I know of. This comes from completely unrelated sources and independant teachers or authors.

What took hold instead was a mechanistic and muscle (as prime body mover) centric, externally orientated view of the body. It is good that thesedays people are realising just how much of a shift this was and that it was in a not so good direction. Sure, we've learned a lot from it, but mainly what not to do.

What is happening in your various soft tissues CANNOT be divorced from what is occuring in the nervous systems and numerous parts of the brain.

"Tightness" around a joint or joint complex can be caused by many inter-related things, not just one. If you only have a hammer, everything looks like a nail right. Yet there are a multidue of people who still approach this with the idea that pulling on the soft tissue is the only way to go. You know, sometimes it simply makes things worse

Hi, just wanted to stop by and share my experiences with my Stillness Movement qigong and also ask a couple of minor questions. I LOVE Michael's Light Warrior's Guide book, and relate to a lot of it - the Stillness Movement practise instantly appealed to me because of its simplicity. I could actually imagine Lao Tzu teaching such a technique, it totally meshed with my understanding of his teaching: effortless effort, doing without doing. This is unlike the other qigong practises I'd been doing which I was finding a little contrived perhaps...maybe contrived isn't the right word. But like I was trying to make things happen and achieve results?

My primary reason for using Stillness Movement (and I've been doing it for about 6-7 weeks now) is to heal myself physically. I'm getting over Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and between S-M and regular acupuncture, I believe it's definitely helping, after 7 years of really being quite badly affected with this. I try to do 2 hours practise a day, and I've been combining it with my meditative practise of attempting to simply rest in pure awareness, which is now my primary spiritual practise. I feel a great deal of heat in my hands and dan'tien, and energy moving up my feet and legs, and more recently I've noticed a sensation of light in my forehead. Previously I had been doing qigong practises outlined by James MacRitchie (global qi project, I think?) but hadn't been feeling all that much...this has felt immensely powerful though, so I'm sticking with it. I think I've found the practise that's right for me.

Anyway, sorry if I'm rambling. I have a couple of questions, if perhaps Michael or anyone else could help?

1. My interest in qigong and Taoist practises started when I felt a very strong inner impulse to learn and practise the microcosmic orbit. I didn't even know what it was - the words just popped into my head and upon investigating I felt strongly that I needed to get that flow going. Am I right in thinking that Stillness-Movement qigong automatically starts the MCO, without having to consciously direct it as a separate practise? Intuitively that's what i'm feeling, but I was just wondering if that's the case?

I stopped doing all the other qigong practises (MCO, inner smile, inner sounds) as I simply don't have the time to do it all. Am I right in thinking Stillness-Movement is a complete practise in itself that negates the need for these?

2. I was wanting to share the practise with someone else, who has less time than me. If you're practising an hour a day, is it better to do an hour all at once, or would two half hour sessions work?

3. This is almost a bit embarrassing to ask, and you might laugh, but is it possible for Stillness Movement to make you more sexually attractive to others? I only ask because in the past few weeks it's started to get a bit ridiculous, with at least two people seriously wanting to pursue relationships with me and several more coming onto me sexually, including people in committed relationships, a long-standing friend and most randomly a complete stranger from other country (via Facebook, which isn't even a dating site). I've often been told I'm 'cute', but I have a somewhat sannyasi temperament - I'm not into partying and socialising much; I spend more time by myself creatively or pursuing spiritual study or practise. Since my last relationship I haven't sought another and haven't had this issue of people hitting on me until very recently and I'm wondering if it's somehow chi-related? Is it the increasing chi people are after?? I'm not really sure how to handle it.

Hope my questions aren't too dumb. I've read through the rest of the thread (and greatly enjoyed doing so) and don't think they've been asked before, apologies if they have.

This is an important fact and why the Taoist Medicine we do has such high efficacy. Balance out the neuro-energetic system and everything else follows.

Hope my questions aren't too dumb. I've read through the rest of the thread (and greatly enjoyed doing so) and don't think they've been asked before, apologies if they have.

1) Your intuition is spot on! ALL the orbits occur naturally with the Stillness-Movement practice; there is no need to force them - at all.

2) It is better to practice whenever you can. So if 30 minutes is all you have do that 30 minutes. However, there IS a reason to practice longer. Initially, somewhere around the 40-60 minute time period is when we reach a "flushing" level. If a person doesn't practice long enough to reach this level they are missing out on the total benefit.

3) Yes, it does happen when we raise our vibration levels. Although inititally this may seem like an amazing benefit, especially to young people, it will get out of hand without doing something about it. One just doesn't want people in the grocery store coming up to them and bothering them all the time; it can become overwhelming. We choose our "battles". We allow ourselves to shine when we do healings. We allow ourselves to shine with our true loves. This is why the system teaches cloaking. I encourage you to practice it!!! Remember, to be a good and moral person is one of the things required to progress in this neigong.

All this said, simply allow yourself to be the normal awesome Being of Light that you are and everything will be fine. Cloaking is a powerful tool that allows us to choose when to shine.

Cloaking / Shielding / Creating a protective bubble - I have heard these 3 terms in your system. Are these one and the same? Or different?

From what Kempomaster shared about Shielding of another, how long would it take for one to have that much oomph from one's s-m practice?

The first initially taught shielding layer is the same; it does double duty of shielding & cloaking.

Gets better with practice. Varies from person to person, but you should have this ability now.

Is it the increasing chi people are after?? I'm not really sure how to handle it.

Hope my questions aren't too dumb. I've read through the rest of the thread (and greatly enjoyed doing so) and don't think they've been asked before, apologies if they have.

Hey Dreaming Light,

Its sounds like Stillness Movement may be the practice for you. Thats awesome to hear that your already receiving so much benefit from the practice! As a practitioner of Stillness Movement myself I'de just like to recommend if you have time trying out Michael's Gift of the Tao 1 DVD, it truly compliments the practice and IMO is one of the most powerful movement systems out there. Also if you can make it, I would definitely look into trying to attend one of Michael's upcoming workshops he's doing. Once you receive the energy projection from Michael tuning you into the lineage, the practice truly takes on a whole new level. I think for this particular type of qigong, the projection is necessary to truly receive the full benefit of the practice. With that said though if all your currently interested in is personal development than one workshop is all you potentially ever have to attend, the projection you'll receive will last the rest of your life assuming you continue with the practice. If your interested in learning to heal others and going through his certificate program is when you will have to attend more to learn the techniques and get the hours for the certificate.

In any event it sounds like your doing great and I wish you the best of luck with your practice.

Hi Michael, thank you so much. It's been great to hear from you and that is very helpful.

I gather from the next post you answered that cloaking is much the same as creating the shield or bubble, spoken of in the book? I will experiment with this, i've already been using the purple and golden bubble technique as I find I often easily get affected by other people's energies...well I have in the past, I don't know if I do so much now.

Thanks again :) I'll definitely try as you suggested

Hi Surfing Buddha (cool username and avatar! Love it). Thanks for your message and the encouragement, it's appreciated!

yup, I definitely think this is the practise for me. It just 'clicks' for me! I have just ordered the Gift of the Tao 1 DVD in the past few days and I believe it's on its way. Looking forward to that.

I would love to attend a workshop. I live in the UK, so am limited however. Next time Michael is in the UK, I'll be there in a FLASH :)

Living in the states I don't exactly know how it works, but it seems to me that anywhere in Europe is fairly easy access to eachother. Since you live in the UK I would definitely at least look into making the upcoming Finland workshop. The last UK workshop got canceled and who knows when Michael will get a chance to teach in your area again. Since you feel a strong connection to the practice, if I were you I would probably snag the Finland trip while its available even if it costs a bit more travel expense. If you think about, its pretty fortunate someone like Michael is willing to come to out to Europe and teach relatively near you, when Michael was learning he had to travel to China each time he wanted to delve deeper into Stillness Movement.

Thats just my two cents.

Best of luck

I live in Germany and made the trip from Berlin to Springfield MO with five days just for the travelling.

And that was absolutely worth all the stress and the money, which is A LOT.

I think there are many ways to connect to the lineage and to Michael just by ways of harmonization with that particular energy/consciousness field. But attending the workshop and seeing Michael live and having him answer some of the question that where lingering in my mind is priceless. So much content was covered at the workshop and so much happened for me that I am still digesting and integrating all that new stuff into my life. Til now it has been the most efficient, effortless and most encompassing system that I have tasted.

Sooo, if you have the chance to travel to Finland, DO SO.

P.s. I used to practice a few different forms of Small Heavenly Cyccle Qigongs, especially the opening of the three gates in the back. Since starting the Stillness-Movement, it feels like there hundreds of orbits spinning at the same time, diferent routes and connecting you to higher and higher vibrations that would take lifetimes to reach by ordinary MCO practices.

Peace
