AI and translator are only effective if the person is well versed with the subject and is able to find out the mistakes and correct them. If a person only reads a few websites and think he already knows everything and then use AI/translator, the result would be a disaster. Post such result on the web would spread the wrongs to subsequent usage by everyone. I do not trust AI as it even can't give correct info like fare, opening hours and so on.

Imagine thinking that AI would know information passed down orally by humans

I wonder am I per se fit into this category for my unwanted behavior in the forum?

like every vow and precept that an order has. Annihilation of ego is one thing but that is not annihilation of Self or Spirit which is not on a slippery slope and may be exacting or compassionate depending on the case...(which btw is not really comprehensible to the human mind since same is beyond it)

In my mind, this is a different issue. This example is more related to rules and consequences. The master of a lineage does not need to feel forgiveness for the precept-breaker, they need to enforce the rules in order to preserve the tradition or insure optimal training. I can forgive someone and still expect them to be appropriately punished. The master can feel genuine compassion and forgiveness and still exact punishment in order to teach a lesson. The forgiveness is in my heart, the punishment is an attempt to modify behavior, two very different things for me.

For example, this method: https://all-dao.com/features-jiuyangshengong.html works only when transmitted and in presence of the teacher/instructor. if one tries to do it without such transmission they will get nothing at all or deviations. also to make it working one must practice preparatory Daogong system for some period of time. even Daogong system must be done with instructor otherwise there will 99% chance you will get deviations so in fact teacher activates pre - heaven mechanism

Forgiveness, for me, is a personal and private act of releasing the pain and bitterness of perceived offense. It has little to do with anyone else or their choices. It allows me to diminish my own burden, if genuine. Repentance or contrition is also a personal and private act of releasing the burden of having offended myself or others. It allows me to diminish my own burden, if genuine. If I depend on someone else’s repentance to consider forgiveness, or vice versa, I am only harming myself, no one else, withholding the possibility of healing and growth. My sustained experience of offense and the associated stress only harms me, it does nothing to my offender. Maya Angelou has some beautiful statements and poetry about the subject. The film Rubaru Roshni is a beautiful and touching film about forgiveness, highly recommended.

Pushkin Boulevard, Donetsk. It used to be my most stomped stomping ground -- the road from home to school, then to the university, then to work. To two theaters (Drama and Opera/Ballet) and two movie theaters. Also a meeting place when planning stuff with friends (many benches to sit on, wooden and comfortable). A dating launchpad (the monument on the right is to Alexander Pushkin, referred to by the locals as "The Head" -- circa high school years, if undecided in advance where to go or if to go somewhere with this guy at all, agree to meet "under The Head," take it from there). And a walking strip with kids -- in a stroller first, and later on foot. Roughly 15-20 minutes to get anywhere at all from home. No car and screw public transportation. It was a lucky location in that respect.

We hear and see examples of people extending unconditional forgiveness for harm done to them but sometimes without there also being the very important step of some type of repentance by the one that did them harm! Anyway I copied the excerpt below as an example about that from a much longer text...(with Bible related sayings although I think not limited to Abrahamic religions) "But wait! I missed a step. Something VERY important has to happen first. Something that EVERYONE forgets when they talk about MERCY and forgiveness. Luke 17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and IF HE REPENT, forgive him. Did he say to forgive your brother for his sins against you? NO! He said REBUKE HIM! Judge him for his sins against you, and TELL HIM HE WAS WRONG! And IF HE REPENTS, IF HE REPENTS THEN, and ONLY THEN, FORGIVE HIM! That’s what He said. IF HE REPENT is in that scripture. And it’s there for a reason. “forgiving” a brother without him first repenting to you, is tantamount to “forgiving” a shark for biting your arm off, as it swims around for a bigger piece. (not a very good example imo since a shark is not human and biting is in its nature) But hold on, you say – Christ said to forgive a brother SEVENTY TIMES SEVEN – and should we do no less? You’re absolutely right! We should do EXACTLY what Christ said and FORGIVE THEM EACH TIME! But wait… in the very next verse here it says… Verse 4: And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. For EACH AND EVERY ONE of those SEVEN TIMES in that day that he sinned against you, he has to turn to you and say “I REPENT!“ or, in our language ”I am sorry! I was wrong!” and THEN – ONLY then, mind you – are you to forgive him! " Then again there is also the aspect or act of not burning oneself up with bitterness if repentance was never given, and thus not easy to deal with also "seventy times seven" !

Who do they look similar to and where did they originate from ? - the women often had lip tattoos , but if one can ignore that ; origins : Basically ( ) they came a 'basal people' ; a very early split off from east Asian hunter gatherers , before the east Asians split into North East Asian and South East Asian people forming the Jamon people who moved further east and then became isolated due to sea level rises during the end of the last ice age . Then they were admixed with people from Siberia , particularly Lake Bikal ( a place I have made many posts and conjectures about ) and also the Tibetan Plateau . They are Japanese people ... the originals .

No , related but not the same . ANE is a component that contributed to the others including Baikal . Baikal admixture describes the complex and dynamic population history of the Lake Baikal region itself. The ancient populations around Lake Baikal were often mixtures of ANE ancestry and Ancient Northeast Asian (ANA) or other East Asian-related populations at various times. For instance, Early Bronze Age individuals from this region had high ANE levels (around 72%), while others had more ANA ancestry. This region is also considered a potential location where the ANE population mixed with ancient East Asians to form the ancestral gene pool of Native Americans. So ... we could even speculate it 'generated ' influence ( and one being a way to 'consider' continued survival in environment) in western, eastern and Native Americans 'ways' . 'Euro DNA ' is a term thats hard to answer about . Obviously some of those people look like modern Euros, Russians and Siberians . The ANE component is related through the ancient Siberian peoples where some 'Euro appearance ' comes from but they are genetically east Asian not European

Using AI to get any reliable information whatsoever is foolish. At best you'll just have a bunch of random sources you now have to go read through, hoping they are of decent quality. Qi gong is a modern term while neidan is a much older term. Any true qi gong ("true" as in, effective at internal change) is based on the principles of the Yi Jin Jing. I wouldn't consider neidan to be covered by the modern qi gong term. Nei gong could probably be put as a subcategory or part of qi gong, but that still wouldn't make neidan the same as any qi gong. Neidan is mainly a meditative, seated or standing, internal practice. Nei gong would usually include movements and such to guide internal energy. Also thinking AI will provide better translations than a professional human translator is ridiculous. At best it'll provide a mixture of modern and old professional translations of the work it's attempting to translate. At worst it'll drop in all kinds of random stuff from a whole host of mixed sources with a high variation in quality. Also would not actually support the people that worked hard on making a high quality translation of a work. As for the practice of neidan, i'll leave that commentary to the more senior members here. We should at least be able to somewhat agree on the meaning of the terms used, before any constructive conversation or debate can be had. Hopefully this post have managed to do so.

Another important consideration here applies to those of us following spiritual paths like Bon, Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta, and so on. Forgiveness and repentance are associated with the sense of a finite and persistent self. If we are able to release ourselves from the captivity of that limited idea of self, forgiveness and repentance are spontaneous and effortless. The degree to which we feel wronged, or that we have wronged, is the degree to which we remain attached to a finite sense of self. So the process of releasing and opening into the present moment, free of the baggage of expectations and judgement, naturally leads to forgiveness that is not dependent on repentance and to contrition that is not dependent on forgiveness. These are all must my own personal musings and I don't suggest or expect that my approach will work for others. Just sharing where I'm at on my journey, fwiw.

Ohhhhh ... talismans - now I get you . I worked in the field professionally ; bio-dynamic preparations assistant and ( then later for a while ) maker and distributor . Many people seemed to think it did ( it also helps their environment ) . A few times I had talked to 'normal / straight' professional farmers who livelihood depended on it - they seemed to think it improved things . In the home front ( veggie and orchid gardening ) some of the more simple uses have been obvious for decades . One simple example I have found myself is , regarding weeding , it can be difficult and often the plant breaks leaving the roots (and regrowth ) behind if not dug out . But if you do it during the waning Moon when Moon is in an earth sign , the whole plant and root comes out so much easier ... as if the soil is loosened and the plant 'lets go ' . For seed raising the 48 hrs leading up to the Full Moon . I did experiments a few times , to do it other times you waste a lot of seed and you also get better robust and healthier plants germinated from seed before the Full Moon . On the 'negative ' side eg ; pest elimination , depending on the type, for example an animal , you would use things like retrograde Venus in an appropriate sign as the timing .

well there is that saying about "no blame" which is more or less transcendent but when there are two parties I'd say there will be an "I" with an associated "give", thus no getting around that karmic situation unless one is actually transcendent and not of just of misplaced wishful thinking of themselves as being holy or above it all.

... ask him for help. So, ive recently befriended this 40 yo. fellow. He lost his long term wife and love of his life to cancer a few years ago, and is currently unemployed. No children. Naturally, there are still pictures and other reminders of his late wife in his home. First time I visited, I didnt ask any questions, as I felt it would be wrong. But yeah, it does sort of become the elephant in the room, in a way. Next time however, he opened up. It was very refreshing, and the honesty of it as well was... IS pretty much always healing for all parties, I feel. There are few if any human qualities I value higher. Today he told me that the reason for him to open up, was that he knew that the darkness he once felt, and that others may feel now, is temporary, and he wanted to provide support for people who are currently lost in darkness. It was healing for him. He then told me about this radio program he was listening to. In the program, it talked about how many of the traitss that once made men so valueable; strength, sense of honour, sacrifise, bravery etc. are no longer needed in the same way. There are no more mamouts to hunt. There are no bears that threaten the tribe and needs to be taken care of any longer. As a result, loads may feel useless, and get in a deep hole. The radio show said that if you want to help one of these seemingly lost men, ask them to help you. Idk... but ressonated as true in my eyes and thought it was worth sharing. I certainly have somewhat of a need to.. protect, in lack of a better word. And from experience I can confirm that serving something larger than myself as well as my fellow man, has done a lot of good. Hope you are doing well, people.

This will probably make you cranky, but maybe it will make sense to someone else reading the thread. Forgiveness is a giving act. And when we give, we should forget two things: "I" and "Give". _/|\_

Totally right. I posted about it too, a while ago now and can’t find it back. Was sth like forgiveness is only applicable after the perpetrator: 1) understands it was wrong 2) is sorry 3) has now acquired the skills not do it again 4) has now the mindset to never want to do it again 5) apologises sincerely 6) humbly and sincerely begs for my forgiveness All else is aiding and abetting

No problem, just do what you you think is right for you, no stress! But you cant be Daoist if you do not practice any methods of any authentic Daoist school. I see a trend here of people who essentially have no connection to Daoist practices trying to capture the attention of other people in this section of the forum. They are simply inventing their own methods, creating their own texts, and following them. Moreover, they encourage others to do the same. It's a personal choice for each individual. However, there is a section dedicated to esoteric methods. Wouldn't it be better to share their musings there, rather than cluttering this section of the forum?

Our school is primarily based on Sefirotic Magic. With several years of preparatory work, focused on meditation, energy work, and working with internal blockages. We do not allow someone without prior training and experience with energy and meditation to dub into magic, as this is unhealthy and the results would be less than optimal. First, not as First arcana, but first to study and pass. There is an order and proper method with which you work through each Arcana. If rushed or performed in the wrong order, without achieving certain siddhis and qualities, the consequences are dire. Working with the Devil 15A, without proper groundwork, would lead to serious addictions that take control and cripple person. The Fool is 22A; zero is also a valid number for it symbolically, as it is like saying you are not a real Adept (seeker) until you pass the gates. Most people who jump into Magic fail to pass The Fool - 22nd Arcana - Entry Gate, in their entire lifetime. Failure to pass the entry Arcana leads to a delusional, fruitless practice. That is where the teacher's role (peers also) is actually important, because self-guidance can easily overestimate one's comprehension and ability and skip the necessary milestones. I have already met neophytes who believed themselves to be godly talented and requiring no guidance. The ratio of those who pass the Arcana and those who don't is very low, even within cultivation circles/schools. Now, outside for self-initiated, it is minuscule. For those who are outside of magic tradition, passing 22A would mean Awakening, it is an achievement that is rare and difficult to find in Buddhism/Yoga/Daoism. Common sense does not need to be written. Of course, inclination based on previous incarnations is ideal to have. It is easier to learn a thing that you have already studied in past lives. That said even people with great talent and past lives inclination towards magic, lose it all and waste their life away, lacking a proper setting and conditions to make it grow and sprout. I.e. talent is worthless without hard work. Knowledge is worthless without application. I sometimes wish I could turn back time and enroll as a student in the school we built. Going through it myself, would have cut years off the training process, saved a fortune financially, and kept me from the injuries and troubles. It can be seen when a person went through a decade of qualified tutoring in a serious school, had 1000s hours of cultivation practice, or when he had read some online junk written by psychopatic and mentally unhealthy people like Alesteir Crowley, who rushed towards certain Arcana without any prior groundwork and failed miserably.

From Chinese translation was done by D. Artemiev who is the personal student of Teacher Of Single Yang. Also he was the personal student of Evgeny Torchinov who was an expert in Chinese (including ancient Chinese) and published a few books on Buddhism and Daoism. At least he knows methods of a few Daoist Pai's. Who are you and what is your background in any Daoist school? If you mean that Neidan is all about how to breath AIR into "lower dantien" lets just say you need to have it first and also i wonder how you get air into there and what it can do from neidan perspective.
  35. 1 point
While it is true that not everybody has the obligation to know what neidan is, mainly because it is, perhaps, the less spread of the spiritual systems, the misinformation that qigong and neidan are the same has to be stopped. We know that qigong is a modern umbrella term for several traditional practices more or less adapted (and sometimes diluted). Practices like yangsheng (not to be confused with yangshen), daoyin, neigong (either martial or medical), etc. were fused in one model: qigong. But neidan was not part of this process, although some neidan methods can be found from time to time in qigong systems. Besides, there is the difference in method and energy used (already explained by Antares).
  36. 1 point
Ahh, I get that. Empowering, but also people and situations can pull you into overdoing it. I don’t know as much about Generators, but I wonder if ‘gut reaction’ doesn’t mean being impulsive. It might mean noticing the body’s yes or no, then pausing long enough to avoid misreading yourself and rushing forward. If your instinct hasn’t always felt reliable, having guardrails makes sense. When you say ‘unreliable intuition,’ what does that feel like for you? When you move too quickly toward something that isn’t right for you, does it feel like you’re responding to what feels true, or responding to urgency? What other parts feel contradictory to you?
  37. 1 point
Alright, so you want to say that Daoist scriptures mislead people too and here we have only you who knows all the Truth? Why to ask the AI in such the case?
  38. 1 point
Yes, indeed, if you look at people's heart-minds states and the fact that they are not even interested in any alchemy work - that's the problem. Why you think Daoists did not leave behind clear and straight explanation of Neidan?
  39. 1 point
The method is not transmitted through texts, but only through personal contact with a teacher. Texts serve as a brief cheat sheet so that future generations have reference points for what neidan is. I assume that the teachers of the past anticipated future turbulent times and left behind a legacy in the form of these cheat sheets, where the method is described only in symbolic form. It is not described anywhere in the books, to prevent anyone from having the desire to invent their own methods, which would lead to deviations. These methods are only passed on to those who have the Destiny. Most often, Chinese people pass them on only to other Chinese, sometimes to other Asians, and very rarely to Westerners. What is described in books is just a small, distorted part of neidan. Often, Chinese people share some information with Westerners due to commercial interests, but they do not share everything. Therefore, it is foolish to expect a complete description in open sources

Very refreshing. In my then-atheistic old country we used to celebrate the New Year with the same gusto that was reserved for Christmas in the non-atheistic parts of the world. This is the picture of the last New Year's tree I saw, located within a short walking distance from where I lived. It wasn't the main one in the city, and therefore not the biggest -- but it was nice, and fully real. Our Grandfather Frost is not unlike Santa, but dresses somewhat differently (the hat especially) and doesn't go down the chimney, nor scrutinizes kids for who's naughty and who's nice, everybody gets a present. Adults didn't exchange presents, those were exclusively for kids -- whereas adults just threw and/or attended a party, usually the biggest party of the year.

Various bad things have been done to me, but looking back, the bad things turned out to be good for me - changing my course for a better one. It may take lifetimes to get a real-time transpersonal perspective. Meanwhile the human feels better if it punishes the other party. That used to be called righteous anger - a wonderful feeling being angry and righteous while punishing.

You’re the only Chinese speaking person active on the forum, as such you are our biggest treasure. This forum has a history of banning Chinese speakers (e.g. Awaken). I think some don’t like to hear anything that interferes with their cosy Westernised interpretation of Chinese culture. I think some slavishly belief what their Chinese teacher says, merely because he is Chinese; hearing another Chinese person have different views, that’s too challenging.
