Its hard to say as 1) people's claims seem relevant to themselves , so success ....will likewise seem relevant to the self view. and 2) the case of definition of what actually HGA is * and 3) . 'Knowledge of ' seems very different to 'converse with ' and any 'converse' , especially on this level ( ie. not the 'normal everyday level of consciousness ' ) , might be subtle , symbolic , etc . * according to Crowley its a name he got from the Book of Abramelin which he applied . he equated it with 'genius' and 'daimon' of the ancient Greeks although in his version it is an objective individual and not just our 'higher nature' . The ancient Greeks (and Romans ) seem split on various ideas about this ( I lean towards the Socratic view ) regarding them as either 'indwelling' or attendant ' and have relationship to character , personality , aspirations and inspirations and inner spiritual and outer material guidance . To me it seems a mixture of these forces .... or , that is our perception from 'here ' . If I am flexible with the definitions I feel I have had definite success with communication but many would say ' That was not your HGA ' - however some Greek sources believe the 'daimon' to be a soul of a person from their 'Golden Age ' who 'watched over' you . This seems to go along with some old Zoroastrian concepts ( the origin of a lot of 'spirituality ' in Crowley's system ) where good people from the past may assign themselves ( or part of their function ) to come back / visit certain people to give advice and assistance and to work as a 'bridge' between yourself in this life and the 'other side' - which seemed to be the case for me . Also it goes along with a few different traditional origins So, if one sees it as a 'higher self' OF oneself , then that might be something other than HGA ( and there are a few higher levels of 'self' ) . But if it IS an objective outside influence to guide and direct and converse with and get advice , then I feel I have had immense success , and that seems to go along with the view of what was meant by it (as opposed to what was injected into the concept later ; higher self ) . Sometimes there seems a 'shadowy collective ' in the background , but converse has definitely been by one particular one . There is also subtle guidance that results in luck, fortune and other things .... behind the scenes , as it were , that is , not being aware of process , just the outcome ... which can result in the 'magician' having the appearance of ' pure arse ' . Its difficult to say what is behind that . eg ; pure arse is like when our lawyer was happy but incredulous how 'fate' kept constantly coming to my assistance in our court case : ''Its like , they ( the prosecutors ) push you in a river , you fall and stumble, landing on a stepping stone and career from one stone to the other and land on the other side, on a silk cushion, with a cocktail in your hand ' people have often been exasperated by my 'pure arse ' at times Definitely not .

One more thing. I find Dvd7 med #4 good for awareness meditation. Do that first or end your meds with #4, then abide in pure awareness for the amount of minutes you like doing.

I don't know that LMP would be something to emulate. But Mark Rasmus has some stuff that uses Eastern and Western modalities.

Recently I have had a young 'first-step' magical student visit and quiz me about her desire to go along the path of magical development , particularly she wants to cut through the crap and get to the essence ... and do something to set her firmly on her way . After a bit of thought I came up with 'the basic essential practice ' .... which seems to me to be ' 'the oath' (of dedication to such a path) . This is very similar to the above '' I give permission ...... '' I took mine at a very early age and was very 'insistent' about it ; '' I dont care what you do or what happens ..... '' Well .... its been an 'interesting ride ' A technical point ....... you say 'summoning ' ... and you 'saw' But they say .... and the tradition says ..... 'knowledge and conversation ' .... very different things between those two . .... did you take the sword ? I also wanted to ask you about 'Chaos magicians ' .... But I will start a new thread in esoteric section for that .

This is good. Life IS the path, and the experiences we encounter, and our attachment or aversion to them, the story we tell about them (our "new" karma) and how we respond to them are our practice. Learning to see that emptiness is available in every moment is the antidote. Have you have pointing out instruction? It sounds like another viewpoint on your work with the Five Poisons, etc. I haven't used this perspective or toolset myself. I started practicing Nyingma/Dzogchen in 1990 with Ngakpa Chogyam Rinpoche. I took classes at Rigpa UK when I lived there. I took refuge with Gyatrul Rinpoche and Lamrim teachings with David Newman. I also had teachings from Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Robin Courtin, and Jon Landau. I received empowerments with all of them, but also the Dalai Lama (and a thousand or so other people) twice. There were plenty of other adventures in there I am sure I forgot. Since 2015 I have been working in Soto Zen, and am now a teacher. I did some research, found this video, added a black candle to the proceedings and tried out the call. The video: Within two days I had a vision of a completely real "angel" at my bedside... something strange, ancient, clothed in pale grey robes and humanoid, but with it's face blocked by a hand. I haven't received any instructions, but was offered a sword once. My insight into non-duality has continued to deepen, but existed before I summoned the angel, so I'm not sure if I had already preempted the process. The angel still visits occasionally, but each time somewhat transformed. Some may take Chapman and Barford cum grano salis, being that they are Chaos Magicians and don't always use the strict ritual structures, but it in reading and listening to them I find that the Chaos Magic framework works quite well with my Buddhist instructions to hold reality lightly. Many Buddhist texts are magic, and include admonitions to hold belief systems, but LIGHTLY, for the purposes of altering our way of seeing. In absolute terms, ALL of these appearances are empty and have only relative existence.

Does anyone have the complete 9 methods manual? It seems that all the links on Google Drive and Dropbox are down, as are the youTube videos. I already have the book “Xin Qigong - secrets and benefits of internal qigong cultivation,” but I would like to have access to the manuals that I believe were used in classes and workshops, some of which were even typed on typewriters. I remember downloading them here on the forum many years ago with another account that I lost, but I didn't even have time to read and study the system because a few weeks later I had to format my computer and lost several files. Thank you!

What I like about November are these two great American Holidays. The latest Ike Baker book 'Aetheric Magic' is pretty cool, kind of zhan zhuang with Hermetic principles. It lacks any guidance on manipulating the connective tissue to make the process a bit more comfortable but it is very magical and easy to digest.
