  1. I do have hopes that this thread will not turn into personal attacks and kindly ask that all keep civil as this IS an important topic. TAOism - Everything. Why Not World Medicine? My personal experience has led me to the concept of "World Medicine". Although some on here have not read my previous postings and apparently some think I practice "alternative medicine" (I was actually amazed to learn that some thought this as I have posted quite a bit on medical therapeutics) I actually do not like or agree with alternative medicine. Why? Alternative to what? That would depend on what culture one was brought up in and on what education level one has concerning medicines of the world. In the west, most think of the term "alternative" medicine to be against western medicine. And I do believe this to be true. In my career I have run across many practitioners of many forms of therapeutics and, IMO it is unfortunate for anyone not to have an open mind concerning therapeutics that work. Although western medicine does indeed have its problems, it is amazing for those things that it will address. So my personal viewpoint is that anyone totally against western medicine is simply not looking at the big picture. By the same token, those that close their minds to therapeutics utilized across the world are also missing the big picture. How about let us all form a system of medicine that encompasses "all that works". Wouldn't this be a grand concept? The closest I have personally seen to this concept is in the hospitals of China. Currently one does not see this as much if at all, but before the crackdown of about 13 years ago many hospitals had a western medicine department (many with Harvard trained MD's), a TCM department including acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, a tui na department, and a medical qigong department. It was very interesting to see the patient sent to whichever department they needed to go through. Of course often this could be very broad, as the patient was sent through many of the departments, usually not just one. If a person was having a stroke they of course sent them to the acupuncture department - NOT. That would have been dumb; they were immediately sent to the western medicine department. On the other hand, if a person had neuro-muscular problems they were usually sent to Tui Na, medical qigong and acupuncture departments. This makes sense as these therapeutics excel with neuro muscular problems. I would like to point out that the Chinese herbal medicine departments had their own pharmacists. These folks were amazing as they had over 5,000 ingredients in the parmacopeia. The closest I have personally been involved with this concept was when I had the opportunity to work side by side with a western trained MD in my pain clinic. All sort of arguments can be made, some with merit and others through pure ignorance, about "proof" of what works. In western medicine, "proof" is established through chemical analysis leading to double blind studies then submittal of drugs to the FDA for approval. What many do not realize is that this process is rife with corruption and that the FDA is not the organization that actually goes through the drug company's data. These are independent reviewers who are subject to all sorts of corruption. I am not sure as I can't recall which major network did this (possibly NBC), but not too long ago they took all the data from one of the drugs that was previously approved and submitted the data under a fictitious drug company name for approval. And guess what? Even though HISTORY OF USE had found that particular drug to cause many fatal and near fatal problems with people and had indeed been taken off the market, it was approved with the reviewer finding no problems at all with the drug! So we have double blind studies as one process of "proof". History of use is the other. IMO history of use wins out every time. I totally support western medicine. But I personally would much rather take a proven drug than a newly developed one. Far too many of the newly developed drugs end up having problems, although some of them are amazing, and, if it was a life and death situation, I personally would not hesitate to take a newly developed drug. And this leads into what are mentioned above and are considered, here in the west, COMPLEMENTARY therapies. The Chinese people have proven the efficacy, through history of use, of therapies such as acupuncture, tui na, and medical qigong. Why no double blind studies? Actually there are but they are few and far between - no rich drug company to pay for such. And, to be fair, the Chinese people did not need western double blind studies for many of these therapies had been performed for quite some time. A valid question was asked on the other thread about how these therapies could be seen as not having conflict and I posted a link to a physician based organization, www.medicalacupuncture.org, that had resolved a part of this question. Unfortunately, a couple of people did not bother to look at the site and immediately talked sarcastically about them being an "alternative" medicine site. They absolutely are not such. It is a quite-large group of western trained physicians who add medical acupuncture to the services they offer. And they are all certified in acupuncture with very good training. I went through (unofficially) the training program. I have studied acupuncture in China and thought their program was very good. I have stated, though, that I wasn't a particular fan of acupuncture or TCM. But that is mostly due to the efficacy I found with medical qigong so there was no need for me personally to continue with needle acupuncture (I do Qigong-style acupuncture - no needle inserted). I have seen many people get results with acupuncture. I also personally take Chinese herbal medicines when needed - with excellent results. Tui Na? NOBODY who has ever had Tui Na doesn't like it. HA HA. At least I have never seen anyone that didn't like it. Tui Na encompasses the full extent of physical medicine, massage, manipulation, etc. Yep. Chinese Tui Na practitioners did manipulation WAY before the Osteopaths and WAY WAY before the Chiropractors. In China I saw great results with Tui Na and had the opportunity to study with the head doctor of the Chinese Olympic team as well as with other doctors. Here in the US it is fairly easy to find a Tui Na practitioner although their scope of practice will probably be limited to be much less than the training. Some massage therapy programs here in the USA have initiated Tui Na into the training. Medical Qigong? As I stated previously, once in China there were many medical qigong hospitals. Unfortunately, in the last decade or so these have diminished with most of them being shut down. Why? Falun Gong was the main culprit. The government had a reversal in their policy and now, when qigong is taught, it must be referred to as "scientific breathing exercise". The government has also mandated which exercises can be taught. Think "CONTROL" here. If people were continued to be taught spiritual freedom they were much more likely to be against strict control and therefore anti-government. Such a waste and such a shame that this has happened. Fortunately, many visited China and were taught prior to the last 13 or so years and the knowledge of medical qigong has multiplied big time over the last 15 years here in the west. For those that do not know, I ran a pain clinic utilizing medical qigong, qigong tui na (of a style mostly built into the Taoist medicine form), and Chinese Taoist medicine for right around 30 years before I retired to teach full time. We had outstanding results in the clinic with these amazing therapeutics. No need for anyone to argue about forms of medicine - I say lets use the world medicine concept, giving us CHOICE. I highly suggest those that do not understand these forms, as well as MANY others not mentioned, educate themselves about each forms efficacy and make intelligent choices - not choices based on bias or ignorance. As a footnote I will say I do like homeopathy and studied the British Institute of Homeopathy program. Unfortunately or fortunately as the case may be, it came down to the problem that, if I had of practiced it on the public, I would have been beyond my own license scope of practice. So I never practiced it. I encourage ALL practitioners of therapeutics not to go beyond their individual scope of practice. DANG, I can't believe I made that long of post. I hope it helps people broaden their understanding of these therapeutics as well as their own choices.
  2. Bone Healing

Healing of bones is a technique common to several medical qigong traditions. Most in the west find this difficult to believe until they have it done personally. My clinical results over a 35 year period demonstrated a very high result in acceleration of the bones knitting back together and always immediately gave pain relief to the client. The acceleration of healing was difficult for the orthopedic doctors to wrap their head around. They just shook their heads in amazement. But for practitioners familiar with the techniques utilized in the hospitals of China, we find this to be just another day at the clinic. Discuss

  4. I had been asked to elaborate on the Taoist medicine that I practice and teach. So I thought I would make the attempt. This is a rare form of therapy that is not well known. SO you are not going to find it in books; there is a reason for that. The therapy REQUIRES the therapist/doctor/healer to have already refined/developed their qi to where they are comfortable manipulating energy. This system was called simply "Taoism" by my teacher. I have added descriptive terms to clarify as much as possible what it really is, and call it Taoist Neuro-Energetic Chi Kung Bodywork. Instead of the classically described channels as utilized in what we know as TCM, this system utilizes the nerve synapse energy response. So a microcosmic (think directed "thin" stream of qi) qi projection is used direct into each nerve synapse that displays an out of balance response upon palpation. SO a large part of the initial training to learn this method requires a student to develop neuro-energetic palpation skills. Then a feedback and control loop is established with the signal going into the nerve synapse with the neurological response monitored as the feedback and the control signal modified dependent upon the information received from the feedback loop. So in essence the "treatment" and "diagnosis" are dynamically changing all the time during the session, based upon the feedback and control loop. I have utilized this method with close to 100% success rate with most any kind of pain syndrome and have had extreme results with helping people with any type of neuropathy including diabetic neuropathy. This method has consistently worked when methods such as needle acupuncture, chiropractic, etc. have failed. But it is NOT a "back treatment" method or a "pain therapy" but is really the essence of preventive medicine, designed to eliminate dis-ease before it manifests as a disease. A person could watch it done for a thousand years and not know how to do it. I could write a step-by-step formula on how to do the method and a person would not know how to do it from the written formula. In fact, a person cannot learn this method until they have practiced it and they can not practice it until they have learned it. Now I ask, is this not the "true" Tao? Disclaimer: Please do not try to perform this technique based upon this description. You can't. I do not diagnose or treat anything and work strictly as a therapist. The conditions described above were physician diagnosed.

  9. "Listening"; Dancing in Wu Wei It is always spine tingling amazing after the fact but general life in the middle of the fact - that is general life for a practitioner of Stillness-Movement. I call this "Listening" but of course that is only a part of it as it really is Dancing in Wu Wei which includes the "action" aspect of the "Listening". Example from one week ago. I was preparing a shipment of basses - I own a high-end bass gear specialty store - and finally got the shipment ready to take to meet the UPS driver. I walked into my house on the way and my wife said she had breakfast ready so I stopped and ate. Just as I was taking my last bite of food I thought strongly that I should just kick back for a bit and instead of meeting the UPS driver (which I fully intended to do before I sat down to eat) just take the basses into a UPS store at a town about 30 minutes from me. I decided to do our laying down Sequential Restorative Neigong method. I did so and fully left my body. I came to now consciousness all of a sudden after 1 hr or so with the full awareness of "it is now time to go". I walked out to my vehicle and drove to the UPS store. Just as I was getting to the stop sign across the street form the store I look up and see an elderly woman fall and hit her head on a concrete parking pad. I pull on in and run to the woman. Her adult son was there and asking her "Are you OK?" Well, she was NOT OK. She was barely conscious. I told her son to call for an ambulance. She was somewhat responsive so I asked her some questions and by her response as well as examining her I could tell she had a severe head injury and shoulder injury. Right at this time an off-duty EMT comes running over and I step aside to let her do her thing - which was a repeat of the questions I had asked her. The lady was getting less responsive and had closed her eyes. Bear in mind all of this happening in just minutes. I did a Clinical Qigong emergency methodology for her. When I projected Qi to her head she immediate opened her eyes and turned her head and looked at me with an intense expression of wide-eyed wonder and kept looking at me the whole time I did the Qi manipulation. I was off to the side several feet from her but she absolutely knew what I was doing. I finished up and said a prayer and left just as the ambulance arrived. "Listening" is a powerful methodology of the Stillness-Movement system and is a method that truly is wondrous for allowing us to help others. It sometimes is so convoluted and deep that it is extremely difficult to analyze or even believe from a mental viewpoint. But we operate outside this limitation. ALL my senior students can give examples similar to the one I just reported on as this is inherent in our training. 10. The Gift of Tao - Ya Mu's DVD

Hi, I replied to your email list of questions. Methinks you are overly concerned about nothing. That type of possession is not common and applies more to heavy addictions like drug users, people whose hearts are dark who feed that darkness, and people who have severe trauma where they were unconscious for a long period of time. GENERALLY a problem is a problem brought on by one's actions and genetic predispositions and yet it is much easier to accept exterior blame rather than taking responsibility for oneself. A physical health or mental health issue has an origin and it appears that many qigong/new age/other "health" practitioners are too freakin dumb to realize this fact: If it Walks like a Duck, Quacks like a Duck, and Looks like a Duck then it more than likely is a DUCK and not some type of exterior influence. And no, a practice like Gift of the Tao does not "cause" such. It only allows one to see more of reality, of the vastness of this and other dimensions. Don't allow fear to enter the equation but be ALL that YOU are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the things that can be accomplished by a practice like Gift of the Tao and other extremely powerful high level practices, is HELP one to be who they really are, removing blinders and energy filters established by the squandered opportunity of humanity.
  11. The Gift of Tao - Ya Mu's DVD

I think if you practice from the DVD in less than 6 months you will answered your own questions, and there will be a base for further discussion. You will then have a perspective yourself about energy body; anyone else's perspective is ultimately worthless to you. Read my past blog posts, and A Light Warrior's Guide to High Level Energy Healing, and you will get a better feeling for what I do, and for my perspective on energetics.
  12. Finally - it is now available. www.store.qigongamerica.com See this thread about Taoist Medicine DVD release.
  13. Can qi be felt by anyone?

I would think that with the type of spine you are describing that you may want to continue with bodywork of some type. Look into the Chinese methods. If you are not willing to practice how are you going to ever feel energetics? The sensory aspect is all over the place with people. Some I can project qi to and sling them several feet, others may bat an eyelash. First rule: THERE IS NO SUPPOSED TO! There is only one way out of your "predicament". It is called PRACTICE. But here is one thing; your own sensory aspect can be clouded by the mental until you practice enough to burn through your filters of perception.
  14. Gift of the Tao II Neigong Movements

Hi, Maybe Brian will come along with some thoughts.I would try but thinking makes my head hurt. Send me an email. If not, a couple of things: "Doctor, it hurts when I do this" Doctor replies, "Well, don't do this." Moral is it may be better for you just to avoid those type of places? When we get more sensitive it is easy to pick up on these type of things. Do shielding as described in the book. Forget about any type of illusory mental state that you think you are supposed to be in - just BE. Set INTENT before shielding and shield before walking in to such a place. Ability to shield requires practice.
  15. Gift of the Tao II Neigong Movements

YES!!! A complete self contained system that absolutely needs no other input. MCO: Think of it like this; if one practices trying to force the MCO before they have even built Qi, it can result in stagnations. If MCO opens up naturally and gracefully, less stagnation.
  16. My Qi used to ramp up every time I went up on stage and our band played "High Voltage Rock & Roll". That is certainly using AC/DC to give Qi.
  17. I have an extreme heretical idea that is so far off the charts here, but I am going to throw it out there anyway; an idea so funny even I am laughing right now: Practice Qigong.
  18. Ah, no, even though there is many years of work in the video series there is much that is not there. We hope to release Gift of the Tao III movements January-February 2016. So to be a bit further on the video releases. You hit on an important aspect of energetics and I think many do not realize they are picking up on and reacting to this. Some of our Gift of the Tao movements are geared at cleaning/balancing these type of energetics. Shielding does help as well. Also, I can say that I think this will become more and more a thing to be extremely aware of.
  19. Absolutely agree. We would indeed have just a whole lot of incorrect hubris if we thought we knew the total energetics situation that takes into account all things is/was/will be. In our system we will not project until we have set firmly our INTENT of "May the Will of the Light Be Done." This does many things but two of them are that our projection/manipulation of raw creative life-force energetics is potentially instantaneous and potentially with no limitation of amplitude. Also, we will not interfere with a person's Destiny but indeed help them to fullfil it. edit: But on a purely physical level as this thread title is on the channels, yes we can all feel it and yes, the traditionally described pathways are really good guides in the descriptive. The energy vortices vary in location from person to person; palpation or SEEing will easily show exact locations.
  20. In our system, everything we do is non-linear. The amount of variations is infinite. We SEE the qi in real time-no time. But due to infinity is the reason I say no way to predict the pathways. Of course if one consciously/mental directs the pathway that is a different story. But in our system we have only one goal and that is to help someone achieve his/her Destiny. If we direct the pathways when projecting we of course can clear up a specific physical/mental problem, but if we are projecting to help achieve Destiny then the infinity kicks in and then "no way to predict the outcome of pathway" although we certainly do SEE it as it manifests. That clear it up?
  21. I would think that most folks who had been practicing a valid qigong form for 3-6 months should be able to feel the channels and qi flow. We see most people feel them inside of a 3-day workshop. One interesting thing, for those that think we are simply creating this with our minds. We can put a person face down on a table, a person who has never heard of energy channels, of qi, of qi flow, nor the word meridian. And then project qi into one of the energy vortices, then that person will describe - accurately - the qi pathway they feel opening up. HOWEVER, the projected qi can jump any channel and send sick qi out any channel, point or body part and there is absolutely no way to predict where. It usually is a path of least resistance OR at a place where the sick qi is stuck/accumulated.
  22. The Importance of Having a Live Teacher

The importance of having a LIVE teacher instead of a dead one. The dead ones have many advantages one of which is they never sleep. But one thing one can't do with a dead teacher that we can do with a live one is get pissed at them and either hit them (and then find ourselves on the floor) or walk away in indignation. Plus I have found the live ones to be a bit better at making move corrections. Because when the dead ones push on you you only feel the energy and see the corrected movement but when a live one does it there is absolute and corrected movement. Sometimes the dead ones get this right but it is usually not as quick as the live ones. I could probably list more advantages to the live teacher but one should get the gist of it from what I post above. I think they both have their place in a student's edification.
  23. SM - Importance of Tree gong

Uh, this isn't Stillness-Movement tree qigong either. Try it like it was taught and instead of the static posture utilize the Sequential method, going deep (SInking) with each return to Earth (deeper than your horse stance) before Jumping (Shifting) - it should rocket right off the chart. Statically holding the muscles will of course generate qi but that is not the reason we are doing it. Shifting is more important as we can generate qi in any posture when Shifted. The dynamic adds dimensionality versus the static. Ask Brion about the Martial Art aspect of this as this is something I will not attempt to discuss here. You will find Tree is not static either. Don't get caught in the static trap as all is dynamic.
  24. Yes it is. We use this technique in our Stillness-Movement practice; I've been teaching it for over 30 years. Removes the blinders - extends perception. Combined with raising the energy body vibration, it extends multidimensional. Doesn't have to be just at night, works 24/7, it is just that at night it is easier to SEE, at least initially. However, I advocate common sense in all practices, and if one doesn't know where he/she is putting their feet or what is in front of them or coming at them, are they using common sense?
  25. More fun lightning facts: http://io9.com/new-statistics-on-lightning-deaths-in-the-u-s-reveal-w-560760736 It appears if you are a male 20-29 you are just...well, statistically susceptible if you like to go out and play in the storms on Saturdays. I don't think anyone can understand lightning effects until they have been struck - and I don't advise it - it is not fun and chances are one will not survive. I got struck 30 years ago. I really think that if I hadn't of been practicing qigong for the 15 years prior to the strike I would have been fried. And at the time I actually thought I knew a lot about it. I guess in my clinical qigong days I saw at least 10 clients with multitudes of problems due to lightning as well as several more clients damaged from electrical shock. BE careful out there! edit: and I forgot to add - don't play soccer on that saturday cause the statistics don't look good
