Say what you will about them as musicians, or as men...   they nudged and poked the Western Psyche as few others did...

Back then... and now.

talk about alchemy!

Flow, my tears, fall from your springs!
Exiled for ever, let me mourn;
Where night’s black bird her sad infamy sings,
There let me live forlorn.

Down vain lights, shine you no more!
No nights are dark enough for those
That in despair their lost fortunes deplore.
Light doth but shame disclose.

Never may my woes be relieved,
Since pity is fled;
And tears and sighs and groans my weary days
Of all joys have deprived.

From the highest spire of contentment
My fortune is thrown;
And fear and grief and pain for my deserts
Are my hopes, since hope is gone.

Hark! you shadows that in darkness dwell,
Learn to contemn light.
Happy, happy they that in hell
Feel not the world’s despite.

@Taomeow i'm going to forward that one to my son.  I'll take the liberty of thanking you for him in advance.  He's going to love it.

Two of my favorites he shared with me come to mind.

I sometimes sing this one in the car, don't know why it became one of my driving songs...  I had several over the years, pretty random, e.g. Leonard Cohen's Closing Time, Bob Marley's Buffalo Soldier and The Eagles' New Kid In Town and what not.  (Some people sing in the shower, but I prefer baths to showers and they inspire meditation more than singing :) so I sing in the car.)

Thanks for the shares, I'll come back a bit later to listen.
