6 pointsI believe that โJudge notโ warns against ego-based condemnation that feeds separation and karmic entanglement. But thereโs a world of difference between reactive judgment and the clear seeing that arises from compassion and alignment with truth. IMO Jesus wasnโt condemning out of wounded pride, he was cutting through hypocrisy to protect and awaken. So we might say real spiritual maturity knows when silence is love, and when fierce clarity is love. Itโs not about never discerning, but about where itโs coming from within us.

3 pointsActions that bring us closer to the light... gardening looking at the ocean walking (extra points if done in nature) socializing with friends hugs good books, good art, good music home cooking finally cleaning out the garage pizza (OK, maybe not but this is my bias) Actions that might or might not bring us closer to the light... posting on Daobums

2 pointsUrrrgha .... Ummm , no, you misunderstood yourself . You said : " the spirit/magical realm vs. the material, " I suggest removing the vs from that ^ not this new arrangement of 'physical vs mental ' . vs means 'against, opposed to , or in contrast to '. Spirit our magic should not work or be against the material . it should not oppose it but give depth meaning and insight into the material and although it can seem in contrast to it , for many it isn't ; for example a traditional Aboriginal believe ( before invasion of the nasty people ) was 'this IS heaven ' . No separation between spiritual and material , they interweave and flow into each other .

2 pointsShould the clear simple list of answers to the opening question be put down yet ..... or do we need a much longer to and fro into obscurity first ?

1 pointalas it is also a problem if "we are so open minded that our brains are falling out". Btw there is that saying about someone who kindly saved a snake but then the snake bit him and he wondered why or how it could do so....

1 pointIt is possible to observe, analyze, hypothesize and test without any judgement Judgement biases actual events. Material science prefers double blind to prevent experimenters' belief distorting results The spiritual scientist observes without prejudice. This allows unbiased hypotheses and clean experiments to test those. Perhaps the human situation is not madness so much as early learning processes in coping with adverse interference. Who can test that hypothesis?

1 point"judge not lest ye be judged" is in pretty much every holy book, for a reason for instance in the Pali canon: "Therefore, ฤnanda, do not be judgmental regarding people. Do not pass judgment on people. Those who pass judgment on people harm themselves.". โ Migasฤlฤ Sutta [AN 6:44] translated from the Pฤli by Bhikkhu Bodhi

1 pointClearly Jesus hadnโt attained much spiritual progress then, evidenced by his condemnation of the Pharisees.

1 pointSome people and some people at various stages need a 'bubble' around them . Its a fundamentals and basic principle in many systems of magical practice . One practices to actually form this 'bubble' . I would even go as far as to say it is , at first, an essential practice and it goes further than a magical practice visualization - it is actually the first principle of philosophy given out during the first knowledge lecture in the first initiation . Which is basically ; if you are learning to use your energies , how will you control them if you cant contain them ? ( and since I cant repeat the lecture here , I will outline the philosophical lesson into other words ) Consider the steam engine and its massive potential power that can be put to all sports of uses ... how will it work if the pressure is not contained in the first place ... the steam will just waft away as vapor . of course , I don't expect you to agree :Lairg ... or even respond . I put this here as its important for some people at this present time and for some peoples level of development .

1 pointI have posted before https://www.thedaobums.com/search/?&q=heart light&author=Lairg Feel free to ask about specific aspects

1 pointPerhaps I should avoid dwelling any deeper, as I might not be ready yet, but I wonder: 1. What can one do to refine the heart? 2. would you mind providing me with an intellectual framework, in hope that it might dawn on me one day? Thank you.

1 pointLogos is Greek for "word". You may recall "In the beginning was the Word" Do your own experiments. It is useful to find a competent observer for feedback

1 pointFor most humans the emotions are more refined and aligned than the mental processes. Accordingly feeling uneasy about some action/relationship/direction is usually a sign that things need to be reassessed. That is complicated when the human has interfering entities and significant karma. Fortunately the higher subplanes of the heart are cosmic so that working with the light of the heart is usually reliable Most humans do not have enough control of their thoughts to rely upon mental analysis

1 pointAre there principles of cooperation with the macro, or does one has to go on gut?
-
1 pointThe each human format contains perhaps a trillion intelligences that more or less cooperate to produce an entity that functions in the local cosmos. A universe contains a vastly greater number of intelligences that need to be coordinated, refined, aligned and integrated so that Logos has a coherent body that it can use in relating to other universes and their Logoi The human is a microcosm so that a coherent/enlightened human naturally propagates that coherence into the local aspects of the universe If the human is incoherent the universe will instinctively protect itself from that contagion

1 pointWhat is this; and why is it something to be avoided; and how does a person know if they are going down that path? Thank you.

1 pointyes. BINGO. shorthand for me as a reminder is "distraction." the other shorthand for me to stay on track is "parlor tricks" as a reminder that i don't need to develop or use "supernatural" abilities. the admonition (for me, not directing it at anyone else) is that distractions and diversions not only pull me away from the "real goal" (as noted in post above) but they become barriers and obstacles in ever getting there. the BigSky in my screen name is the remidner for me to be the sky, rest in that simple awareness, and let the clouds just drift by. i don't need to chase them. qigong practice for me is a valuable part of my daily life because it helps put me in that state of no-time and just awareness. It allows me to cultivate stillness. I am not familiar with the specific qigong that is the topic of this thread.

1 pointI watched this documentary with interest. He describes a state of 'oneness' as enlightenment. It reminds me of a dharma talk by Guo Gu, heir of Chan master Shen Zhen. I can't find it now, but said he had a moment of acute oneness during a retreat, sparked by watching tree branch fall in the garden. When he presented his teacher with the tree branch, he was sorely rebuked. He came to realise that the state of oneness also needs to fall away for there to be true awakening. (Couldn't find the talk, included a snippet here) And the quote below from his book
