My approach to topics like these has been to read thousands of news articles on finance, current events, science every year for 15+ years to learn the basics and avoid illiteracy. Over the last 10 to 20 years I tried to inform people about some aspects of things like healthcare reform. And encourage them to care enough to get their facts straight before committing to things which might not be in their own best interest. But what stood out the most is how determined everyone was to fight & die on a hill of their own convictions. It was never about science or facts. It was all about living and dying on whatever random opinion a person happened to have at the time. Its hard for me to be mad about CEOs engaging in predatory practices when the majority of people supported everything that made it possible. These negative trends didn't happen overnight but rather over the span of many decades. There were countless warning signs no one wanted to acknowledge until it was too late. I don't know if CEOs are mass murderers. To me its more like a case of domestic abuse. Where the abused makes excuses claiming they "fell down the stairs" for decades to avoid acknowledging the real issues. 15 years ago there was a story published in the news claiming CEOs identify non essential workers to fire. They add the fired workers paycheck to their own salary to give themselves a raise. Rinse and repeat. 15 years ago I was angry about this. I shared this story with many who wanted nothing more than to pretend it didn't happen. I shared a lot of things that needed addressing which were all ignored. It felt like I was the only one that cared about anything and everyone else only wanted to live under a rock and see and hear no evil. After awhile I realized I had not given up or quit. But everyone else had somewhat given up and quit on themselves. So its like ok people. Make your choices. I hope you make decisions you can be proud of. And that's about as good as things get.

kakapo replied to kakapo's topic in The Rabbit Hole
Again, you are welcome to bring your own practice. You don't have to learn anything, or practice anything. Teacher and practice cannot be openly discussed here per the site rules, but you are welcome to email me for further discussion. ( [email protected] ) -

If teacher and country where "long term retreat" is held, can not be stated on forum, then that is a flag for me. otherwise it feels a bit dicey. -
Long Term Meditation Retreat For US Citizens To Meditate Outside The USA
kakapo replied to kakapo's topic in The Rabbit Hole
You can bring your own practice, no need to learn something new if you don't want to. As to the teachers name and organization, I would be required to discuss that off site via an email conversation per the rules of the website. ( [email protected] ) There is a cost involved, meaning you have to pay for your own food, and expenses, the idea being the more people who split the cost of living, the cheaper it is for everyone. To be clear, no one is making a profit from this. US citizens because one they might want a change of scenery, and two visa requirements allow for US citizens to stay there, whereas other countries not so much. Anyone is welcome, but people from countries other than the US may have to do a lot more leg work with their visa applications. Again please send me an email ( [email protected] ) for more specifics. -
For many years I thought 10% economic growth in the USA before 1913, when income taxes were legalized, had everything to do with economic & financial efficiency. But recently I realized a good part of that 10% GDP growth was actually population expansion. So yah its definitely easy to get lost attempting to identify trends and causality in historical financial data. Leading up to the american civil war the north paid 25% of all taxes in the country. The south covered 75% of the tax burden. 25/75 split. That's wholly irrelevant though considering the war was all about racism and slavery.

Long Term Meditation Retreat For US Citizens To Meditate Outside The USA
BigSkyDiamond replied to kakapo's topic in The Rabbit Hole
Who is the teacher and what is the organization? Where will it be held? So there is a cost involved. I guess i'm curious too why "US citizens" are being targeted. Surely a "meditation retreat" would welcome participants from anywhere? the other question i have is why the secrecy or need for "message directly." People share resources and teachers freely on this site. it raises a few flags for me, along the lines of: -
https://www.statista.com/statistics/187592/death-rate-from-homicide-in-the-us-since-1950/ 1960 was lower. 1970 higher though. Economic conditions also play a big role in violence and crime.

Where are the High Level Martial Artists/Fighters at?
Nungali replied to Goden's topic in The Rabbit Hole
Oh yeah ... and also they never get the experience of 'going on' through injury . Even worse ... ( but hit got better ) Avi ... a training partner ; after a while I was frustrated with his 'delicacy' . " Jeeze dude ! Take a shot in my chest .... not too hard ." he does this little 'pat' . fer God's sake man ! I said not too hard but that was nothing , put something into it . " Again . " Okay harder .... harder .... harder .... " "Are you sure ?" Yep ... harder ..... harder ! Okay, that's a bout it . So, you can hit me that hard in training . " " Wow man , you hard as nails ! " " No, I'm not ! I'm really not , I am not that strong and tough at all . Look, you stand there and let me hit you the same ...... Dude, don't flinch before I even do it ! I'll start soft ... Avi ; " Oh .... harder .... harder ....." and so on . Eventually " I didn't think I could take a hard punch like that ." "It wasn't that hard . But at least now you deal with ..... 'something ' ... but don't get confident ..... I am not a very hard hitter .... that's why I go for 'sensitive spots ' . "- 150 replies

Long Term Meditation Retreat For US Citizens To Meditate Outside The USA
kakapo posted a topic in The Rabbit Hole
My teacher asked me to post here. He is organizing a long term meditation retreat for US citizens. The retreat will occur outside the USA. No money is required, except to cover your own living expenses. The goal is to devote yourself to your practice, and share living expenses to bring the cost of living down. Visas are not an issue for US citizens, no Visa is required. Remote work via internet is possible. Cost of living is low. Crime rates are low. Please message me for more details if interested. Please do not discuss anything which violates the site rules in this thread which may cause it to be locked, email me directly for such discussion. ( [email protected] ) -
hi, how are you? I recommend you start working with a neural network. It's a piece of cake for it to solve this problem.

I worked with a woman once that wore an 'Order of the Star' badge , I asked her 'Isnt that finished by now ?" " Not with me it isn't ! " Jiddu was rather pop here ( well, in Sydney ) at one stage . he was supposed to come when he was still being touted as world teacher* ..... another Theosophical fiasco ! * reception amphitheater for Krishnamurti , Sydney Harbor ; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Amphitheatre

It struck me that he was not talking about 'being aware ' but ' being awareness ' .

Seems to me like JK and JC had a similar relationship to their followers and a similar resistance to hierarchy. The rest was added later by people wanting to use their gifts to control others. In true spirit there can be no hierarchy.

in many instances worldly powers turned Jesus into a cult, He didn't but He saw that coming. Btw I'd say there is nothing wrong with recognizing hierarchy based on Spirit and not ego... Also did not JK establish a non-cult cult?

I had a chance to spend some time visiting an intentional community based on Rudolph Steiner and theosophical principles. Very interesting and mostly self-sufficient community, particularly the elder care and biodynamic farming, but not quite my cup of tea. I think one of Jiddu Krishnamurti’s most insightful and valuable actions was rejecting the Theosophists’ mantle of world teacher and disbanding of the Order of the Star. This refusal to participate in the hierarchy prevented yet another cult of spiritual control and empowered the individual in all matters of spiritual investigation, perhaps the most important thing I gained from his teachings.
