Has anyone actually improved their eyesight (myopia) through Qigong or TCM?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone

I’m really curious if anyone here has had personal experience improving their nearsightedness (myopia) through Qigong, acupressure, or acupuncture.  I’ve come across some reports about eye Qigong or relaxing and quiescent Qigong practices that supposedly helped people strengthen their vision or even reduce their need for glasses.

but it’s hard to tell what’s real and what’s just anecdotal.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has:

- Noticed actual changes in their diopters or visual clarity

- Found specific exercises or routines that made a difference

- Used breathing, relaxation, or visualization as part of their eye practice

- Managed to reduce or stop wearing glasses altogether

- Even small improvements or just stabilization stories are super welcome

If you have any book or video recommendations on Qigong for the eyes or acupressure for vision, I’d be really grateful too!

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences

I haven't had any impressive improvements in my prescription but possibly slight improvement (can't say for sure it was qigong) I have gone from -4.0|-3.75 to -3.75|-3.25.

I don't do anything specifically for eyes, tcm, qigong, or otherwise.

I will say I'm not convinced qigong can fix one of the major causes of near or farsightedness - As far as I'm aware your eyes develop in childhood and stabilize into a permanent shape around late childhood/early adulthood when you stop growing. If you eye was elongated (or shortened) before then (ie you had glasses as a kid), all the structure around your eye would already be formed and that shape will be more or less permanent. And since that shape is the cause of the vision issue, it's likely there to stay without medical intervention to reshape the lens to compensate for the the eye misshape.

I am not a tcm or optomotrist, but it seems to me age/stress related vision decline or issues caused be disease could be a promising to see real improvement in though as those are not really structural. But again, I'm just throwing out my thoughts, I am not any kind of eye doctor or anything.

Not purely from qigong, but I believe qigong helped me get much better results from laser surgery than if I didn’t do it. Basically my eyesight was so bad (-11.25) that after surgery I would still have a prescription of around -2 and still need glasses, but after surgery my eyesight was perfect or as close to perfect as can be. The eye surgeon couldn’t explain how or why.

These posts here go into more detail and with screenshots of the eye tests etc:

Now I don’t believe I could have gone from -11.25 to 0 purely with qigong, but maybe improve it by 2. Usually after doing qigong my vision is much clearer and sharper.

I never had real eyesight problems and have never worn glasses.

I have spent absurd amount of time on reading from phone or working with pc.

I would attribute this to my knowledge of qigong/meditation.

Quite early I have learned to manipulate my energy, to sense my eye channels. I can even sense if I eat some food and it starts to clog and weaken my eyes. Usually such an effect comes from processed food and seed oils. On other hand, some spices, vegetables and berries, seem to strengthen eyes.

One or two times I have felt my vision worsen after an extremely high load on them, I have been able to quickly recover it.

The vision worsens due to strain in the eye muscle along with poor nutrition and tiredness.

When a person starts wearing glasses they essentially give up, and their eyesight problem locks in and will start degenerating.

Anyway, if you want to fix your eyesight there are 4 things you have to do.

1. Clean your diet, if your diet clogs eyes there is no chance.
2. Practice relaxation exercise called Palming and visualize black color.
3. Do eye exercises 3 times a day and stop wearing glasses. (the second can be a problem, if it is a developed story and you cannot function without glasses)
4. Work with eye channels using internal energy

It is possible to recover eyesight from -2 or +2.
