So ... your Trump thread still causing trubs ?  And  people are still posting in it .

I still  will have nothing to do with it.   Just watch it slowly eat through this site and knock people off .

Like some sort of new drug epidemic.

You should lock it  .

Its all the fault of what we call democrats, an epidemic for sure.

There is nothing strange in avoiding situations that (as of yet) one cannot properly deal with. That's only common sense, and  Lao tzu had a lot of advise in the same direction

Did he?

"The highest goodness resembles water
Water greatly benefits myriad things without contention

It stays in places that people dislike
Therefore it is similar to the Tao "

it's very easy for people to talk about things without being tested on what they talk about.

. It's very easy to talk of spirituality in a church or Temple, less so

"Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters. Where the ragged people go.

Looking for the places
Only they would know"

. I work with many people who say they practice taiji. They claim to be soft and understand emptiness.

When put to the test,  one quickly learns whether one is truly empty or understands what  softness means.

. Understand the focus of this site is not politics.

Don't understand why the talking about it, it's not a good way of demonstrating what much of this site is about real time.

If not as an example to others, as a way of testing ones self.

Endlessly participating in deranged political discussions and enjoying every bit of it has nothing to do with Taoism as understood by Lao tzu and Chuang tzu. The old sages would have walked away. Chuang tzu did like discussing with his friend Hui tzu as they booth could appreciate each others wit, but when the latter died Chuang tzu had no one left to discuss with, he didn't mix with the those who were unable and/or unwilling to have a sensible and civilized discussion.

The Tao flows to disliked low places means that those who follow Tao rather keep a low profile and avoid power play, intimidation, luxury, arrogance, and bragging. In this Trump is the antithesis of a Taoist ruler. So idolizing the guy proves that one didn't get the (whole) message. But that's OK as there is more to Taoism than Lao tzu and Chuang tzu only. But one should at the very least have the decency to acknowledge the way of the two founding fathers as a form of spirituality. Anything less is trolling.

I agree with your first paragraph - but you let yourself down with the second.

Whats the text where it describes Chuangs inability to find anyone to talk with after the death of Hui?

As this quote suggests , there has been a mission creep event. Daobums has always had means to deal with crazy style posts, that's nothing new ,, but what is becoming in question is whether political discussion fits with the spiritual theme that management and some us peons want to impose uniformly across the site.  Those participating in the Brexit thread , should be equally concerned that you too will be railroaded into only discussing approved content being considered spiritualish enough.

There is a handy scapegoat, and that's our current president , who's actions are described in all sorts of derogatory terms far out of proportion with their impact , and began before he was even inaugurated ! Those supportive of the president have been exercising a huge amount of effort to keep the conversation 'above the belt' but it appears management has become contaminated with this idea that in order to force Daobums to remain what they envisioned , the threads generating so much participation are not welcome, in that instead of being esoteric in nature , deal with real life issues.

Its a pity. This site has always been recognized as loose and outspoken , as opposed to being some kind of imitation of a sangha. It has its worth as such.

I heard once something about missing the Forest for the Trees. This community, The Dao Bums, is a microcosm of something much larger. In this test tube, we see how it all could unravel; How we could lose the goodness so a handful (who feel they know better than you or any of us) may remain in their comfort zone, so the few, will feel safe in their habits, may continue to look at the world precisely stereotypical. (dim and unaware of the greater danger)
