The Brexit Thread

To pretend that Theresa May has any sort of plan is ridiculous. She is simply a rubber ball bouncing from pillar to post. I still think that most of you are missing the big picture however.

The Tories under Prime Drip May are showing themselves again and again as unfit to govern. I now have real fears that they will not complete their term of office and will be forced to go to the country. Corbyn has the youth vote without any question (its a sort of Obi Wan Corbyn thing) and the chances are high that the Marxists (Labour Party)  would carry the election. We would then be left drowning in the mess of Brexit - whichever way it goes - and have the added chaos of a Marxist regime, promising the world and delivering ruin.

Things are looking very grim indeed chaps but there will still be a few laughs along the way.

As an aside I am beginning to seriously worry about Apech, whom I never thought of as anything other than a Boring Buddhist and left wing Liberal. I may have to amend my views after reading recent posts.

Thank you.  I spend a lot of time worrying about myself too.

Well I still think May has a 'plan' and she might have even factored Corbyn in, as said she's wants to keep us in the EU by trying to mind-job MP's but mainly the public.

May is simply not clever enough to have any sort of plan, just look back to her record as Home Secretary, she talks a good job but consistently fails to deliver.

We voted to leave and now more and more people are accepting that we probably won't or can't!!!

She's a traitor. Forget politics and parties she's a liar and a EU shill. She's going to hell!! :P

She is a traitor and unfortunately she is not the only one if you define a traitor as someone who puts the interests of others above those of her own people. She is also without doubt duplicitous and a servant of the European Tyrany. As to her going to hell????????????

is that Tory blue?

May was an incompetent Home Secretary - somehow she survived when it is the most tricky job in UK politics.

Not Tory blue as I detest the tories as much as I detest the socialists and liberals.

May survived as Home Secretary simply by her blandness. To be fair her speeches were always impressive but she never delivered on any of her promises - in other words she did nothing but "talk a good job." When you do very little it is difficult to drop yourself in the shit.

Unfortunately for her she has now landed a job where she is having to deliver something (I am not sure what) as regards Brexit. The results of her attempts at action are there for everyone to see.

Well that's simple! Get us out of the EU either with or without a deal but of course her exceedingly poor skill set is now there for all to see. I'll be amazed if she's still got a job at the end of this week as people are really, really getting P'd off with her.

Basically she's not up to the job of PM and never was.

Emergency debate to take place tomorrow

Emergency debate application

House of Commons

Parliament

Speaker John Bercow says he is satisfied that the matter raised by Jeremy Corbyn is "absolutely proper" to be discussed under standing order 24 (which concerns emergency debates).

All opposition MPs, plus a number of governments MPs, stand in support of the motion, with none objecting.

The debate will be held tomorrow for up to three hours, Mr Bercow says.

Rumors May was going to leave it until next year to have a second vote in the House on her deal ...

Corbyn has called for an emergency debate on it tomorrow, back strongly by both parties. This is fair enough, she can't really be allowed to let it drag out like this.

Long and short of it, tomorrow's going to be a bit more interesting.

ok - so not strongly by the Tories, just enough to get it through.

Well with any luck they might even get on with the vote!

It's a mixture of stress and boredom at the moment!

This is definitely doing the state of my mind no good! I like certainty not chaos.

But this is a good thing, it would have just been no good her dragging it out so long.

But are their enough numbers for a leadership challenge or a vote of no confidence?

Bercow was suggesting having a vote (!) on whether the vote should have been postponed. Not quite sure what would have happened if they win that one - does it then force a vote on the deal?

Politicians. Little Tin Gods on Wheels.

— Rudyard Kipling

A new age is dawning
On fewer than expected
Business as Usual
That's how the headline read
Some shaky modern saviors
Have now been resurrected
In all this excitement
You may have been misled

You don't have to pray to a little tin god
Step out of the way for a little tin god
You might fear the reaper, fear the rod
But you never have to get down on your knees
You don't have to holler, please, please
No, you never have to get down on your knees
For a little tin god

Don Henley

Is the corkscrew unlocking the frexit champagne?

I was looking at trip advisors 10 best things to do in Paris.......# 7 Revolution, # 6 Remove Macron

Certainly this changes the dynamics of the Brexit deal.

Just wait a bit and there will be no EU to leave.

God save the Queen etc

You are correct but we must not underestimate the danger that the dying beast still possesses. As I have pointed out before the raison d'être of the European Army is not for defence against an alien threat but to control those already within the fold.

Well if May doesn't come back with something, cheese, wine or perhaps some sausage then she should resign. Will she?  Err probably not as she's a mental case who needs to be put down!

This is fast developing into something like a good old fashioned Brian Rix farce. The only thing lacking is that the politico's involved have not quite reached the stage of running from room to room with their trousers around their knees. Give it another day or two though.

France on COLLISION COURSE with EU: Macron shameless pay-off to rioters BREAKS EU rules

EMMANUEL Macron was today shamelessly BUYING his way out of trouble caving in to rioters after weeks of blood and chaos on the streets of France, with a host of policy U-turns and a multi-billion euro package of ‘presidency-saving’ measures.

But the massive hand out goes DIRECTLY against EU rules and his own insistence on national spending and fiscal prudence – and is set to see France joining Italy in defiance of it’s own EU spending laws. Macron had even dished out numerous lectures to Italy warning them to come to heel over EU spending rules or face the consequences. Now the hapless president looks set to join Italy deliberately falling foul of EU rules. The French President has been aggressively spearheading an EU-wide drive to slash the bloc’s eye-watering 145billion euro debt. But last night he offered his troubled nation astonishing concessions that will see him not only add to Brussels’ fiscal budget but also dangerously inflate Paris’ own budget to over 100 percent of gross domestic product (GDP).

Sparking fears France is on the brink of an economic meltdown, Mr Macron handed out sweeteners to buy off a “catastrophic” nationwide ‘Yellow Vest’ protest movement that led to the deaths of three French citizens, the hospitalisation of hundreds, and knocked the wind out of the nation’s economy - despite his relentless calls on EU member states to tighten their purse strings.

The young French President, 40, who has been dubbed “arrogant” for addressing his nation three weeks into violent protests about fuel hikes that saw the cost of diesel rise by 23 percent in 10 months, offered furious demonstrators who set cars and buildings on fire, stole guns from police and gratified the Arc De Triomphe a shopping list of handouts for those on low pay and retirees to calm their fury.

In a speech addressing the nation last night, he promised to up the national minima wage by 100 euros per month, ending some tax increases for retirees earning less than 2,000 euros per month, and asked firms to provide bonuses to cash-strapped workers.
