Hi Steve,

Are you referring to ego?

Why? Because...

I actually practice lightness skill and I am also able to do this in the dark.

The banter in this thread makes me feel light all night long, all night

Then there is Gwen say no more nudge nudge

I do not know where this all is going but I like it, like it, yes I do, I really like it.

Hi Wu Ming Jen,

Good for you - lightly suggestive though.

I am feeling heavy at 3am.

I am going to sleep.

Good night.

Why don't you say more precisely that you practice darkness skill also?

The following - lightness or darkness skill...   especially the last picture?

You know me toooooo well mister. There are no light moves without night moves..... it just happens all on its own. One good thing just follows another with no effort. Well at least the effort is well worth it.   Being deathless could also be a pretty dark skill to someone.

Astonishing.

3 of those 4 images are a lie.

LZ never said the first one,

The second one is LZ

The third one is Buddhist

The last one has chakras. Higher dimensions and chakras. Attributed to Laozi???

Everybody wants to put their words into Laozi's mouth.

I'd like to put something in their mouth.

Maybe you better read the TTC sometime LimA - so you know what ISN'T in it.

Hi rene,

As a budding Taoist I am touched by these:

Your loyalty/faithfulness/allegiance/devotion/fidelity/honesty/obedience/patriotism/tie/support... to Lao Tzu and Taoism (I visited the Thesaurus Park near my home last weekend).

My apology - I am not schooled in Tao Te Ching.

Please excuse my blindness, ignorance, cheekiness... At home I am nicknamed The Monkey.

I am not motivated to read TTC because dawei said:

"Squares and corners spoken are not the eternalness [of squares and corners]".

So for the posterity of the TTC, it is better that I do not read it. Why?

I am big-mouthed and I speak unnecessarily. After reading the TTC, it will be my spoken TTC and it will become terminal because -

"TTC spoken is not the eternalness of TTC".

In a slanted way I too care about the goodness of Lao Tzu and Taoism.

There are no light moves without night moves...

Hi Wu Ming Jen,

Yinny and myself had discussed the following in day-light. We dared not venture beyond sunset as we were unsure if the night light (w)could make monkeys out of us.

TaoistCosmologyDiagram-56afdf283df78cf772c9b1b7.jpg

Tao gives birth to One, (1)
One gives birth to Two, (2)
The Two gives birth to Three, (3)
The Three gives birth to all universal things. (4)
All universal things shoulder the Yin and embrace the Yang. (5)
The Yin and Yang mingle and mix with each other to beget the harmony. (6)

Elizabeth Reninger

Lines (1) to (4) were pretty straight forward for us. At Line (4) we positioned ourselves as Yinny (right) and LimA (left) - just before we went home separately just after 6 pm.

The next day we discussed Line (5) in various field quite comfortably - until we touched on biology followed by sexology. At this juncture we could feel tensions rising - with me rising unsightly/embarrassingly.

Despite our incessant checks on our watches - we were still discoursing at 9 pm. Suddenly Yinny stood up and said she had to leave as she had pre-set her oven. I said - "What the... " - and headed for the bar.

Just before midnight Yinny WhatsApp-ed me and said she could not see me for a while. I asked why - and she sent me this through WhatsApp:

th?id=OIP.HmmnoJX0nH6-n10lftmcXAHaMl&pid=15.1&P=0&w=300&h=300

I called to her to discuss her above picture verbatim and she hang up on me. Instead she sent me these through WTF.

th?id=OIP.mKkddvl2GfcV3koWsiGq5QHaFj&pid=15.1&P=0&w=203&h=153

th?id=OIP.MXzxfR0id4WTA8osIpbU0AHaHp&pid=15.1&P=0&w=300&h=300

I was hyperventilating when I reminded Yinny that we had yet to discuss Line (6).

She said - "we will discuss it long distance".

Peace dawned on me when I realized that Yinny was not cutting me off.

These pertained to our long distance dialogue re Line (6):

th?id=OIP.N1I0OgSoOPAgUjPBrKj8SwAAAA&pid=15.1&P=0&w=300&h=300

th?id=OIP.h4hLUmfNvk2DeI60PYSkRQHaEH&pid=15.1&P=0&w=335&h=187

th?id=OIP.mkNKmDS2_8g-xSM8IYihPAHaNL&pid=15.1&P=0&w=300&h=300

Apart from the above Yinny simply loved this:

Tao-Te-Ching-quote.jpg

She kept on asking me to explain the above first two lines. I did so happily... and repeatedly. At the end I was dead beat and I suggested a demonstration - and she shyly said no.

We were on long distance for the longest time...

Today Yinny has accepted my invitation to go for a short holiday this weekend to discuss Line (6) further.

I am over the moon - we are graduating from light moves to night moves.

Yes, that has been going on forever.  But then, using Lao Tzu's name implies the importance of what he really did say.  So many will have their own thoughts, suggest that Lao Tzu said it, and that gives them a little ego boost.

Yinny the mysterious female has so much to teach us. When yinny and yang reconcile their differences new life burst through, all becomes alive like a beautiful garden full of life and light and dark movements that dance with perpetual motion, this birth is eternal.

Yiiny and Lhong live happily ever after in the garden> the changes of the seasons, storms, snow and adverse conditions have no power to make things any different there is life beyond life. A sky above the sky

Hi rene,

I will read the Tao Te Ching when I am ready.

Meanwhile...

Fake Lao Tzu quotes.

I will take cited positive thoughts at face value in relation to fake quotes re the Internet of things.

At the end of the day personal learning and experiential knowledge will be the order of the day.

Oh..dont be too touched by my words, I told you my way was different - LOL

I'm not Taoist and will never be. It's only the TTC that for me has any value, and my affection for it resides in it's simplicity and clarity. For a while (when I needed names) I called myself a Laoist - as in a follower of Laozi's ideas - but for the very reasons you (and Dawei!) stated - that too has floated away.

"Taoism" has more squares and corners than the words of the TTC.

Squares and corners box in the ideas that come through Laozi's words. Side note: that's why I like the Feng/English rendition best. It may not be the most 'technically' accurate - but it's neutral tone sets less barrier to the ideas.

Sounds like a good plan!

But you better be careful because if you post enough meme's you'll have read the TTC whether you realize it or not!!

Do you know that ^^ is chapter 36 of the TTC??

AND your meme is the only one NOT attributed to Laozi on it. LOLOL

DDJ 36 F/E

That which shrinks
Must first expand.
That which fails
Must first be strong.
That which is cast down
Must first be raised.
Before receiving
There must be giving.

This is called perception of the nature of things.
Soft and weak overcome hard and strong.

Fish cannot leave deep waters,
And a country's weapons should not be displayed.

Yinny loving this says you should keep loving her!!

I know. And, if someone goes then and reads LZ - they start from a wrong idea and the essence has less chance to get through their pre-loaded squares and corners. None of this is a big deal though; and if they read something that helps them - what could be wrong with that! ^_^

True that.  People love to mis-quote Nietzsche.  In fact, some translations have mis-translated him.

Exactly.  I even sometimes compliment something that supposedly originated with the Buddha.

Hi Wu Ming Jen,

You are poetic.

When differences are reconciled new life bursts through.

All becomes alive  in a beautiful garden so pure and true.

It is full of life with light and dark dance movements.

In eternal rebirths - perpetual motions and moments.

Yin and Yang live happily ever after in above garden.

Adverse conditions have no power,

But - give fruits flower after flower.

Make things different without a why.

Live beyond lifea sky above the sky.
