  1. Turning vegetarian - need advice

Oh? Now this is interesting! How so...?
  2. Turning vegetarian - need advice

Sorry, not to confuse with vegan, no. I just avoid milk and cheese a lot of the time just because I don't like them. I still love eggs and yoghurt. But yes, my main issue is chewing on animal flesh. It just comes over as a bit disturbing to me now.
  3. Anarchy - A Way of Living

So would you say that we can be anarchists doing good deeds that haven't been enforced on us? No one had to teach me to be nice to my neighbour. In fact, it was rules that made me want to rebel. If people didn't lecture me, I wouldn't feel as patronised and therefore, would just go about my day in a calmer, happier and giving state. My view is that we are naturally good people anyway. A baby laughs...feels genuine happiness and goodness. It's only societies that distort morality to the point in that we NEED to have laws in place...
  4. Anarchy - A Way of Living

Yup. When I make/market a piece of music, I have to "worry" about the media liking it enough to review it. The same dipsticks that in my opinion, know little about music...just trends.
  5. Anarchy - A Way of Living

Yes! And therefore, I happily let them and watch them carry on in what I see as a slave life (you already know my thoughts on Confucious, Stosh, so I'll leave it there) Fact of the matter is, I can usually go about my day without really acknowledging statutory law. Why? Because I just get up, do my thing...feed, do an honest job as best I can and make people laugh. That's how I believe life to be. Now, many times I have been accused of "doing something illegal" and to that, I just don't care. The system is put in place by a bunch of people who fight for power...it's completely make believe. So therefore, I have equal authority anyway...just most people don't believe this to be true because they were taught the opposite from a young age. When I awake, I live life, disturb no one, then rest my head. To some people I could still be perceived as an anarchist but to me, I'm just doing what I do!
  6. Turning vegetarian - need advice

I shall...it looks (by the cover) that it spells out that vegetarianism isn't quite as a divine or moral choice that it's made out to be. I could be wrong...that's just the cover! Thank you Funny, the argument I've always had was that vegetarians DO miss vital vitamins but then recently I thought, so what? We adapt and evolve, right? As for milk, I actually quit that. It kept making me feel sick after having with my cereal so I switched to coconut milk or oat drink. When I tried cow's milk after, it tasted like pure $4!t lol. How do we really know that about fish's consciousness? Same goes for plants feeling pain... And what gives man the right to farm animals and mass produce them for food? Isn't that against nature? Shouldn't we all be left to roam free? Amen to that Thanks for all your replies so far!
  7. Reptilians?!

True to this...Kesha is another tool of this operation and so many more. I've worked in the industry for years and to me, it's a clear technique to tap into our more depraved fantasies to ultimately sell and make kingpins at Universal, Sony etc lots of money. Generally artists are skint. Tempted with fame, many will throw themselves away to be enslaved by to a gruelling schedule.
  8. Reptilians?!

I stopped caring a long time ago. Nothing can harm your soul as a committed cultivator anyway Even if they were exposed one day, what would we really do about it? Personally, I feel there's "reptilian" in all of us...or demons or whatever. Seems to be just a metaphor for people hungry for personal/selfish gain.
  9. Lower back pain in meditation

Yep! The same that say, leaning on any body part awkwardly would cause pain and/or pins and needles (which I also get) When I'm in full lotus, I'm fine. I just feel the pain after!
  10. Lower back pain in meditation

I'm practicing full lotus with my left leg on top. When I come out of it, after say 25/30 mins, I have excruciating pain in my right ankle (the one sandwiched between my left thigh and left calf haha) Shall I persist?
  11. Man lived to the age of 256

It can't hurt if we're living healthy lives And if we do, we can pass our wisdom down until we finally do leave this place.
  12. Lower back pain in meditation

Yes, I've gone back to full lotus and interestingly, the pain is barely there. I have learnt that all different postures have very different impact? Half lotus will bring a little pain and usual crossed legs is just hell. I have to adapt depending on which I do - in half lotus I need to crouch a little more and cross legged, I need to slouch to be comfortable! Thank you I tend to only use a small cushion when I'm just cross legged. If in full lotus, I find I don't need one! I have started regular practice again recently - this is so important. I find I usually slack off a bit if work gets hectic but now I realise there is no room for such allowances if I want to be a committed cultivator! Yes, I'm doing some more yoga and general full body exercises (hindu squats, hindu push ups) to strengthen the core again too. I will take all advice on board until I find my answer and keep everyone posted. So far so goo though...I'm making progress.
  13. Did you watch the video from this post? I watched it today and it will talk about those weird sensations you talk about. I really enjoyed this...I'm actually learning a lot more from this thread too!
  14. Quick Zhuangzi question

I've never read Zhuangzi cover to cover....only extracts in various books. So I began yesterday and wow, I need a bit of context! Or your opinions even. Firstly, did he actually study/explore Lao Tzu and TTC or does he just so happen to have a naturally similar vibe? The writing style...it seems inconsistent. As in, more obvious that it's written by a collective of people...some stories about him, and other stories directly from him. Either that or he's talking in the 3rd person for some reason for some of it... Are these parables/myths? Or are these said to be actual events and encounters? Answer my three questions and there is a grand prize
  15. Quick Zhuangzi question

Woooooo! My paper copy came. Martin Palmer version (affordable) but reading the intro, it looks like he has looked into so much in order to produce this...including Burton Watson I know this will be a much easier read than my phone app that is some mad Chinese translation job. I will be starting over.
  16. Yeah, for me, this dogma is silly. It's just the same as believing that if you're bad, the hand of God will lay the smack-down and slam you into hell and eternal suffering. I don't speak of Karma any more...I just use the term "Cause and Effect" to work with what is visible with the eyes.
  17. Well, you are hehe. And no, you have zero control...hence the awakening process. You're starting to see "it" now so there's no going back from that You can kid yourself all you want and try to make it all go away but it ain't gonna happen. Just follow and learn Yes it does make sense. Your last sentence answered your ow question. You know what needs to be done...so you can now practice and get there! I'm still in the process, so I totally know what you mean about this withdrawn feeling. With this, we need to understand that we still have to blend in to the rest of the "real world" in order to pass on our virtues and help others. But yes, I totally know what you mean by wanting t be elsewhere! Hehe... PS, where/who did you play baseball for?
  18. This is true. I just want to add that when I was going through this sort of thing, I kept dropping weight by the day. So I ate more and more...and lost more weight. The doctors did blood tests, all fine including thyroid. The moment I decided to just get over myself, the negative stuff all just went away...as if by magic Try not to worry and get caught up in all of this...that's my best advice! The fact that you're overwhelmed right now is just more food for the monster I like metaphors.
  19. And no, no one will think you're crazy here...just be very careful who you speak to who you directly know!! Your talk about loss of identity...I hate to break it to you, but you never really had one! That was an illusion and what you're going through now is witnessing your truth and having to overcome the sadness (also an illusion) You THINK something is wrong some days, but that is just your lack of acceptance at this stage in time. As long as you persist, you will find the beauty in all this...of you don't it could lead you to full on depression or even reverting back. The choice us yours...but be very careful which you chose (I'm biased towards keeping the practice up...hehe...as I did/do and PROMISE you that nothing is better than going through with this)
  20. Thanks Bax44 And Malikshreds has explained this very well! When I became committed to my meditation, I began a journey which at first led to many lucid nighmares/night terrors and what I perceive as genuine demonic possession. I spent many months on edge, not knowing what was real and what wasn't. With persistence (and much frustration) eventually I had a moment of pure bliss that changed my life forever. Anxiety went away, the demons were dead and/or vacated and earth became heaven. I can't say more, because words cannot really describe. But even if you don't believe in the ghost (which really is all in the mind but that is equally as real as the realm is the same....maybe an explanation for another day) we will all agree that it's your mind causing the problems. Why? Because you're transforming. And the "old you" is scared...it doesn't know what it would do without the things it is attached to. Continue to starve the monster and carry on. You're meditating because you wish to take the driving seat that for so long the monster has had
  21. Somebody please "like" this comment so that I can get a notification next time I log in (on mobile so can't follow the thread) Will add my advice when I next login...need to dash right now!
  22. Man lived to the age of 256

Yeeeeah boi! This was spoken about in "The Tao of Pooh" by Benjamin Hoff. Anyone who lives to an old age without any health problems, great! Maybe I will be the same (I don't appear to be ageing so there's a start!) It's a shame that most people I see aged 60+ look like hell. I befriended a man just over a year ago...75 and a plate of pills and stacks of cigarettes to see him through the days. He passed in January just gone, poor soul. If only we could all find it in ourselves to follow the healier stress -free path...
  23. Lower back pain in meditation

Could well also be a factor...going too far in the other direction (tensing the back into upright position) due to the "guilt" of having bad posture throughout the day!
  24. Lower back pain in meditation

Funnily enough I manage ok...I make a big effort to cook in bulk and snack on fruits and nuts. Fresh meat from butchers, homemade meals with lots of veg (hence the midnight dinners as opposed to grabbing a burger on the way home! But thank you all for your responses so far...I certainly feel more lie-down on floor meditations and the links above will help me through this. I realise that I've been quite dogmatic with my methods of meditation. Time to adjust!
