Oh and thereā€™s also this ā€˜Daoistā€™: Hilariousā€¦ and obviously good at getting attentionā€¦ But this isnā€™t really what the Daoist spiritual tradition was all about

Itā€™s not that itā€™s a scamā€¦ itā€™s more like a drugā€¦ you start taking a drug and it makes you feel good, you get your friends into it, you hype up its benefits, thereā€™s a whole culture and community around it - and even though it starts doing damage and causing issues, you explain these away - because it feels good. Itā€™s human nature to become intoxicated by an abundance of sexuality, by an abundance of status and by an abundance of resources (money)ā€¦ these things have a way of subverting people down a path they would not have normally taken. Of course not everyone succumbs to it - just as not everyone becomes an addict from trying drugs! I think that everyone has a personal responsibility for themselves. You get to make your own decisionsā€¦ but I also think itā€™s important to be given the full informationā€¦ to see the other perspectivesā€¦ unfortunately in a society based on commerce, the perspectives we get access to are generally the ones that promote things and make money. Saying - ā€œhang on a sec, this stuff theyā€™re promoting is problematicā€ just doesnā€™t get as much ad space and airtime. The nature of these base drives is that they have this strange intoxicating effect. People get intoxicated by the idea of wealth and resources - so they get pulled into ā€˜get rich quickā€™ schemes, gambling, immoral business practices etcā€¦ Sex and sexuality can be the same. Particularly if it gets disconnected from intimacy and love for your partner. Itā€™s just better to know all perspectives before you embark on something - so youā€™ve been smart and asked at a relatively impartial forum.

There are probably much better sources for teaching a healthy sex life! Things that focus on developing intimacy and love and connection with your partnerā€¦ Not manipulating energy and doing weird techniques that completely take away from any connection and intimacy!

Hey @VELLY Welcome to the forum! The reason youā€™re getting so much pushback is because at the forum we get a constant, steady influx of people that have damaged themselves with these sorts of sexual practices. Everything from messed up ā€˜tubes and valvesā€™ (so theyā€™re constantly dribbling semen into their bladder and urinating it out)ā€¦ to weird physiological issues like heart palpitations, racing mind, insomnia, constant adrenaline-spiked anxiety, tinnitus, hot flushes, painful eyes, migraines etc. all the way to mental issues like uncontrollable emotions, psychotic breaks, manic episodes, constant amping up of sexual deviancy etcā€¦ Weā€™ve seen it all hereā€¦ and Iā€™ve warned a lot about this on the forum, so I often get private messages from people recognising some of these things I mention (often for the first time linking the issues with the practices). Itā€™s really sad to see young men having to deal with these sometimes life-long problems as a result of some dudeā€™s wish to sell some books and courses. The source for the vast majority of these sexual practices is Mantak Chia - even if they donā€™t say so. Some of these practices do come from historic texts - generally ones that came from a weird period in Chinese history. Where the aim is basically vampirismā€¦ they believed that a man of high-standing could have sex with many virgins and by doing certain exercises, they could absorb these childrenā€™s vitalityā€¦ Some texts were completely made up for titillationā€¦ others came from manuals for prostitutes. The main point is that none of these things were ā€˜Daoistā€™ in natureā€¦ You know how theyā€™ve recently made this idea of ā€˜manifestationā€™ a modern spiritual movement - where in reality it has nothing to do with spirituality - basically subverting the idea of prayer to satisfy oneā€™s desiresā€¦ So, I believe, the same thing may have happened in the past - giving something a Daoist label made it seem legit. Why is there hype? Because practicing these things does somethingā€¦ Not a good something - but thereā€™s a certain power you might feel from these things at first. It can also create delusions of grandeur and an insatiable need to satisfy sexual urges and power urgesā€¦ and guess whatā€™s one of the best ways to satisfy both of those? Get some students! You can fuck a bunch of themā€¦ and the rest you can control and use for income! This is a really sad, shady aspect of modern ā€˜Daoismā€™ - and really youā€™re better off not getting involved at all.

My favourite thing in the world is to change the mind of a materialist cynicā€¦ Oh wait - no itā€™s not

By the way - no one is saying you should be consuming toxic metals @Cobie This is not something you do lightly - it takes a lot of trust (two way trust)ā€¦ There are many reasons to poison an emperor (to make him immortal is near the bottom of the list) Things arenā€™t quite as simple as a Wikipedia article

Iā€™ve had various external alchemical preparations (there are many)ā€¦ some I felt littleā€¦ some felt like the kind of strong transmissions Iā€™d get from advanced teachers External alchemy is still very much alive and being practiced. Thereā€™s a lot more to it than mixing substances. Not just in Burma either. A lot of the known teachers use various ā€˜pillsā€™ to generate their qi to very high levelsā€¦ thatā€™s also an aspect of external alchemy (non-standard herbology).

There were almost certainly internal methods before waidan. (There were internal methods involved in weidan anyway!) Waidan was the technology behind the transformation of substances - and Neidan took this mental model and used it to describe the transformation of internal substances. Thats my opinion from what Iā€™ve understoodā€¦ but many scholars would disagreeā€¦ so who knows

Longmen has a funny history - where at some point lots of disparate lineages started to call themselves Longmen paiā€¦ Itā€™s a lot less centralised than some historical records claim.

He opens your channels for you while you sitā€¦ then adjusts stuff in your energy body as you sleep. The downside is that your channels will close and things will go back to normal over time. Though accessing the light of original spirit is always transformative on some level

Wang Li Ping teaches by way of transmission primarily. Having a foundation (calm, stable mindā€¦ a Dantienā€¦ somewhat open channelsā€¦ ability to sit for 3 to 4hrs comfortablyā€¦ ability to handle discomfort and what I call ā€˜qi pressureā€™) is all a big advantage.

Ah do you mean like getting ā€˜drunkā€™ on approval? Yeah itā€™s a weird quirkā€¦ anything that helps to bolster ā€˜the selfā€™ particularly the ā€˜lowerā€™ aspect of the self (that revolves around status/sex/power) - it tends to make people kinda drunk and carried away.
  15. Qigong and astral travel

Itā€™s just when people claim to offer a spiritual path - but then they try to affect their reality through various deals with entities - that has little to do with spiritual cultivation. Itā€™s just further self-identification - just on a more ā€˜supernaturalā€™ level.
  16. Qigong and astral travel

I donā€™t want it to sound overly dramatic! The reality is that you can (and do) take on karma quite easily - for instance if you strongly identify with a certain cultureā€¦ or nationalityā€¦ or your family line - youā€™ll carry some of the karmic weight of that family/nationality/culture through this identification. Itā€™s a normal part of life - it happens all the time - so please donā€™t take what I said as some sort of scary malevolent trickery on the part of these entities. The fact is that we get attached to stuffā€¦ to certain mental states, certain identities and so on. This is quite normal. Itā€™s arguably better to be attached to the benevolent qualities of some deity, than something elseā€¦ But for a spiritual cultivator - any strong karmic entanglement will hold you back - whether itā€™s ā€˜badā€™ or ā€˜goodā€™. Most of us are not spiritual cultivators - I even have my doubts about my commitment to it myself (even though Iā€™ve dedicated my life to it). This isnā€™t another thing you have to worry about!
  17. What does it mean to get tied into a lineage?

In my understanding, it takes a very specific process to become part of a lineage - to get ā€˜tied into a lineageā€™. Just practicing a method doesnā€™t do it. (I know people will say otherwise). Yes you may tap into a lineage transmission if youā€™re sensitive to such things - but thatā€™s very different to becoming part of a lineage. Theres a specific energetic ā€˜seedā€™ placed into your energy system that works like a kind of antenna that constantly tunes you to the lineage. This isnā€™t done lightly - itā€™s difficult and requires a certain responsibility on the one receiving and giving such an initiation.

I think their ā€˜ancient schoolā€™ is a pandemic babyā€¦ they didnā€™t quite have the chance to meet any genuine practitioners in person yetā€¦ It feels to me that their ā€˜masteryā€™ comes from reading books, forum posts and watching videosā€¦ I can recognise many elements theyā€™ve taken from my writings here for example. I suspect they donā€™t engage with me directly or answer technical questions from you @Shadow_self - because itā€™ll make all this immediately obvious.
  19. Qigong and astral travel

This is like the archetypal deal with a lower realm entity. It doesnā€™t mean youā€™ll necessarily be pulled to the lower realms - itā€™s just the sort of power gained can make you ā€˜drunkā€™ on the power - and you end up making choices that can lead you to ā€˜hellā€™. But even hell is temporary
  20. Qigong and astral travel

Itā€™s not always things based on base desiresā€¦ in fact usually with the higher realm beings itā€™s seemingly benevolent stuff - things like healing abilities, clairvoyance and so on. But thereā€™s a cost - one that many people would be happy to pay - but as a spiritual cultivator, it basically pulls you in the other direction - so you have extra karma you have to clear. Its the lower realm entities that play on the base desiresā€¦ theyā€™re the tricky ones and know how to manipulate you into thinking youā€™re in control.

  22. Iron body in a fight

IMA practitioners have a hard time impressing the ladies I remember in the U.K. there used to be this tv program called Mind Body & Kickass Moves (or something like that) - fun program. There was this one guy on it, whoā€™s training was to spin his arm very fast for a long time until his fist was completely engorged with blood - then heā€™d punch stuff with itā€¦ The end result, after years of this, was that he had this one really big baseball mitt of a hand - all calloused up and barely functional beyond punchingā€¦ Impressive.. but also - why šŸ˜‚
  23. Qigong and astral travel

There are several names for this realm - the main thing is that itā€™s said that this is the realm of ā€˜higher levelā€™ beings with karmaā€¦ Karma that they can only process once they incarnate - or by passing it to incarnate humans in return for trinkets and favours

ohh ok - you mean the stuff like walking over glass and breaking bricks with your headā€¦ often this too is a kind ā€˜methodā€™ā€¦ like developing thick skin on the soles of your feet over timeā€¦ or using ā€˜specialā€™ bricks and hitting them on a certain part of your skull thatā€™s been slowly conditioned to take blows. This obviously takes some training and skill - itā€™s just not ā€˜iron shirtā€™ proper. oh really - I didnā€™t know about that. Iā€™m glad some are doing it, and putting their skill to the test.
