Hi Apech,

What is a crystal meth lab?

I need to improve my vocabulary.

Vocabulary is alive - ever living and growing?

  1. "field of thoughts"
  2. "a storehouse of memories and impressions"
  3. "intellect"
  4. "identity affixer"

Nothing else?

All of this is illuminated by the light of nondual awareness. But it comes after one understands and explores the mechanism of the "mind" imho. :)

If context and content ~ coexist... how can... context comes after we can understand content...?

Can you give an example to elaborate?

The "mind" is mechanical?

Don't see any context first. Only see the content.

Black is content and white is context... the colors can be vice versa... they coexist.

Can we possibly have a gif, vid and pic embargo on this thread.  Please express yourselves in words.  It's much better in the long run.

A picture is more than a thousand words?

I see both black and white as content. Context is only evident when they come together :)

Within black ~ there is white.

Within white ~ there is black.

But, but, what if my thoughts emerge as images?... by necessity! :D

And Jnana Yoga brings me nicely on to the next point - which is the role of thought in 'knowing' - as everyone knows I am sure the words are etymologically linked.

What does it mean to 'know' something??????

This old thread may shed some light. While my posting occasionally smacks of confrontational tasteless satire, I seem to have been able to get those thoughts across rather clearly there.

@dwai managed to squeeze a thought or two in too, but just skip all his deep and quick-witted laser-like accuracy. Read my long-winded quotes and dull droning on about the mind instead. Thx. :P

Necessity of thought...  necessity.

Good morning Creighton,

To me a thought expressed is no more a thought.

Necessity vaporizes with it?

I end up with nothing to think about?

I don't perceive conscious thinking as a negative, or a positive.  It is part of awareness; a small part.  And often, not necessary.

But there is...

You don't understand the Taoist philosophy of Yin and Yang?

I was inquiring about your point about content and context :)

I am thinking of content and context as Yin and Yang (or vice versa)... re coexistence.

Good morning neti2,

No thank you.

I have to attend a meeting and it is necessary  for me to think on my feet.

I cannot afford to be dull.

I got that...though I’m not convinced that it is applicable.

I did not join TDB to convinced anybody about anything... but to share.

There is no necessity for me to do that.

Of course. Nor do I ask that of you. You are entitled to your views and I am to mine :)

I only responded because you seemed to be interested in engaging with me over this subject. My apologies if I misunderstood your quoting me multiple times :)

“Thoughts direct actions.” Is this true? This is what my paradigm suggests.

I wish I could find the references but I can’t lately. I listened to a fascinating radio program describing experimental models demonstrating that the thought comes after the action. It is more a descriptor, a narrator, than a decider.

There could be two levels of thought, a subconscious thought directing an action, and a conscious level narrator.
