  1. Hello everyone, I recently picked up a copy of The Complete System of Self-Healing by Stephan Chang. The heart of the book is the Deer, Crane, and Turtle exercises practiced together after mastering each seprately. In the Deer exercise, the book says to suck in the anus as much as possible and to hold for long as possible. This will shoot Chi up the body. The second time I tried the Deer exercise was during a hot shower and after I released, I saw spots in my vision. So my question is: is that a problem? Also, is Stephan Chang a good resource? I was thinking of buying his other books. But his directions on the MCO says to direct the Chi up the spine and leave it in the head as the Chi will come back down naturally. This seems rather dangerous. Is it? Thank you.
  2. Wearing Hats and Qigong

In Dragonball the shaolin monk character says he shaves his head to unfetter his Qi...
  3. Hi everyone, I'm been practicing Taijiquan for a few months now. Fangsong, Dantian rotation, and Silk Reeling. I've also been celibate for over 100 days now. Starting about two weeks ago I noticed i've become stupider. I have gained some difficulty in reading and understanding subtlety in meaning. I've been under HUGE amounts of stress so that's what I thought it was. But on a hunch, I did dawei-laoshi's oil mediation with dantian breathing http://thetaobums.com/topic/32200-energy-stuck-in-head/?p=487536 and after only a couple reps, my mind returned to normal and I felt very relaxed and blissful. I felt like I was melting into the chair I was lying on. Now my mind is starting is falter again. Any ideas what's going on? Thank you so much.
  4. Energy stuck in head

What are the symptoms? I've been having headaches, eye pain, ear pain, and OCD thoughts. Especially after masturbating (trying to stop). If these problems are caused by energy stuck in the head, how do I get it out (without MCO)? Thank you.
  5. I feel stupid and slow

*sigh* Even if I live as long as heaven and earth, thousands of years from now that will be still be my greatest regret. PM with your progress if you like. Mostly physical. Although he will say things like 'make your lower body firm and relax your upper body, then the qi will gather in your LDT. etc.' Also, he talks about the meridians and vessels when talking about Silk Reeling. Thank you for your advice everyone, I will be following it. Please keep it coming. EDIT Also, I've noticed my love is very strong and easy to generate (compassion not so much). I think it's related to my being celibate. It may be connected to this matter I suppose.

Today during post standing the center of my chest hurt and felt cold. Maybe that is also part of the problem. This has happened before. My teacher said not to worry. 7. I feel stupid and slow

Sorry, I forgot something (see). I find it hard to relax my chest during Taiji. Today during post standing the center of my chest hurt and felt cold. Maybe that is also part of the problem. This has happened before. My teacher said not to worry. Also please explain what progress and how it causes wind-damp to rise to my head? I'm reading that thread now.
  8. I've been practicing Taijiquan for several weeks now. Just stretches and dantian breathing. During class on monday up to right now, I've had a cold feeling in my chest and a fast pulse. My teacher says not to worry about it, but he didn't seem to know what it is. Any ideas?
  9. Such as? Especially as Tsung Hwa Jou's promised fourth book on the southern school is never coming out. I'm not interested in Dual Cultivation, just in not hurting myself through sex. Thank you.
  10. Intercourse without harm

I've noticed this somewhat. Any advice on how to sublimate it exactly? Say I'm feeling lust, how do I turn it into love? I've read this. But I couldn't find anything practical and immediately useful... I will be sure to keep this in mind for the future.
  11. I've just finished reading this book. I have a few questions about the chi ball visualizations. Will someone experienced with the techniques please PM me? Thank you.
  12. How can the Gelugpas be a cult based on Shugden, if the founder of the Gelugpa didn't worship Shugden?
  13. How is that possible if Shugden first appeared over two hundred years after Tsongkhapa's death?
  14. Good Tai Chi in LA

Any good teachers in LA? They all seem like scams or cults. Thank you.
  15. Good Tai Chi in LA

Looks amazing. But unfortunately way too far for me to go on even a semi-regular basis.
  16. Energy stuck in head

Thank you everyone for your replies! It seems like I'm a little taller today. Is that an effect of acupuncture?
  17. Energy stuck in head

No it just hurt. The pain would come and go and increase and decrease but was present in at least one part of my body the whole time. Mostly my calves. I'm shocked at how damaged my kidneys must be, because the doctor said that the pain is a sign that the treatment is working. I was lying on my back so I couldn't see but he adjusted the needles twice. First halfway though and second almost at the end. Each time he adjusted them the pain increased so I think he pushed them further in. Spleen 8 is for jing huh? That explains why it hurt the most. The left point hurt more than the right. Is that because the left kidney is more damaged?
  18. Energy stuck in head

He first measured my pulse with a machine, then asked me about where I felt pain, and then felt my pulse with his fingers. He also glanced at my tongue and looked at my fingernails (apparently they show that I have a healthy appetite). The point on the leg: looking down at your leg, it's in front on the inside near the shin bone. About two inches below the bottom of the knee. During the procedure my vision was filled with floaters and I felt very constipated. Both stopped after the needles were taken out. So I'm a believer. This is really works. (Hurts like hell though)
  19. Energy stuck in head

Today I went to an acupuncturist. He put in needles in the web between my thumb and index, in the web between my big toe and index toe, and two inches below my knee on the inside. Anyone know what these points are for? I was surprised when I asked him if there was a problem with my liver and he said 'no the problem is with your kidneys.' He also told me to avoid seafood and eat more vegetables. Why? As ChiDragon said, he said it will take a long time to heal with acupuncture, so I should speed up the healing with self cultivation.
  20. For me it's just a matter of logic. To attain Enlightenment you would an ineffable amount of merit. Now say you have the intention to heal your sick child. That would create merit. Now say you have the intention to heal your child of all sufferings. There are 84,000 sufferings so it's base merit times 84,000. Now say you have the intention to heal all beings of all sufferings. There are infinite beings. That's the base merit of altruism times 84,000 times infinity. Now that merit is only gained during mediation, so if you combine Bodhicitta with your daily activities then you would wake up to heal all beings of all sufferings, brush your teeth to heal all beings of all sufferings, eat breakfast to heal all beings of all sufferings etc. Then you would be creating infinite merit every second of every day! Thus, the common saying that there can be no Enlightenment without Bodhicitta makes sense. As does the promise that people who feel Bodhicitta 24/7 shall attain Enlightenment quickly.
  21. Energy stuck in head

    36 times right?
  22. Energy stuck in head

Oh wow, the area next to my temples, where the hair starts really hurts when I rub it.
  23. Energy stuck in head

Thank you! That makes sense. By Chi Kung do you mean breathing from the stomach and the Eight Brocade?
  24. Energy stuck in head

Can I restore my essential Qi?
  25. Energy stuck in head

That's the thing about addictions. Knowing it's bad for you isn't enough to make you stop. Thank you
