A big hello to everyone here from South Africa! :D

By way of introduction, i have been captivated for quite some time with eastern philosophy;  the spiritual, martial and medical elements and practices; the alchemical and esoteric mythology and everything in between.

i hope to gain a better insight and understanding from all of the scholars and teachers here at [Dao Bums] as well as share where i can.

Looking forward to conversing with all of you soon ....

Hello Echo of the universe, and welcome.

Your membership is approved and we're happy you found your way to us. We look forward to accompanying you on some of the way that you still have to go.

Please take the time to read the two posts pinned at the top of this Welcome page and take a look at the forum terms and rules. This covers all you need to know when getting started.

For the first week you will be restricted to ten posts per day but after that you can post as much as you like. Also, until you’ve posted fifteen times in the forums, you’ll be a “Junior Bum” with somewhat restricted access and will be allowed only two private messages per day.

Good luck in your pursuits and best wishes to you,

Fa Xin and the TDB team

Hi Echo,

Glad you found your way here. Lots of good information to sift thru on the warm South African evenings.

Any one topic interest you in particular ? Or just taking it all in ?

You are welcome to jump right in ongoing discussions, revive an older thread, or start a discussion in the "Newcomer Corner" sub-forms to expand on your introduction or ask general questions to help you get started.

May you enjoy your time here.

Fa Xin

i am hoping to get a handle on the flowery language used by many daoist authors and uncover the true understanding of the terms and expressions used in most of the translated works available today.

I have been fortunate enough to have stumbled across a few authentic teachers/messengers which have provided sound stepping stones thus far which i wish to elaborate on.

@thelerner  - thank you :D

Good luck!

I think that voidisyinyang summons it really well:

The same term can mean more than one thing.

Many different terms can mean the same thing.

Basically, FUBAR.
