It's all about having someone there ( there: the regression time and space, not the physical space ) to provide comfort directly or even just by being present during these regressions. This is part of the regression goals actually.

In the traditional form it's an enlightened being, in modern forms it's someone else, nothing specifically tied to enlightenment or ethereal beings etc.

Re the switch, they may well say the same in magick or other traditions. For sure a lot of these traditions got a lot of things right, they're the inspiration of phychodynamic techniques after all. What's very different though is the reasoning, where no metaphysics nor religion is involved in therapy.

Re taking to thought forms, if someone controls the on/off it's safe, so it's a matter of preference. There's no objective reason not to engage in dialogue ( assuming control of the on/off, else there's risk of psychosis).

Imo the real world with real people etc is just way more interesting.

The fact that these realms are personalised, hence everyone has their own map, be it astral or others, means they're not something objective, they don't exist outside of us, otherwise we'd all have the same map.

They are psychological realms.

This is why active imagination is the most concise method, it's the most flexible one, it doesn't tie the "stage" to any labels ( ie "astral" , "lower world", "upper world" etc etc ) nor traditions that may not be part of someone's cultural heritage.

Sorta like  ' a trained objective viewpoint ' ?  or is it more like a guide ?

Does that not depend on the type of therapy ?  What about Jungian psychology ?

Yeah I get that , but I think the essence or the skeleton of the map can be the same for us ; all of us as in a psychological map , or it can be a cultural map for groups  .  I spent years getting clear on a map that incorporates  the 'overall' human condition . In some ways we all have the same map as we are all human animals with a related psychology .... I mean NONE of this would work on any level including psychology if we all didnt have the same BASE map .   One simple demonstration of how these types of maps  are relevant to just about all of us is in  astrology  ( this isnt about whether  astrology 'works ' or not , its an example of  the patterning or mapping ) .  The overall map applies to all of us - ( hence 'objective'  ,  meaning  if I use it, I didnt make it up ) yet each individual has a variation within that patterning .

More like someone to provide emotional comfort during the "replay" of the event (replay: the regression). It's not an archetype nor a symbol, it could be a parent, a friend or even the therapist that's imagined to be there in the event.

Jungian psychology didn't provide all the answers, ie didn't explain the physical mechanism of the psychoid nor the biological process for the collective unconscious but also it didn't use metaphysics to explain them.

Jung often wrote that when science advances to the point of more or less what today we call neuroscience, it will be possible to begin studying these things rigourously. He didn't use metaphysics nor religion to explain them though.

Maps do have similarities indeed, they are all generated by human brains which often share a collective unconscious. Similarities on what the human brain generates goes beyond journeying planes, it extends to art, mandalas etc, because for some things we share a collective unconscious.

But maps are not the same for different persons and it's not an objective place where one can drop something and another one can pick it up.

Of course a psychological plane can be used as a stage to interact with archetypes but this is also possible via active imagination which makes zero assumptions on what the psychological plane looks like.

Applying the concept of levels seems another layering of story onto true nature.  Mind is stacking mental objects in an effort to arrive or achieve or create some mental notion of higher or lesser achievement or accomplishment.

True nature is what is.  Layering, stacking up mental objects is a process of obscuration of true nature in my experience.

Release into presence your true essence is never seperate... only obscured by conditioned mind.
