wandelaar Posted December 24, 2018 (edited) What pronunciation is used in the academic study and discussion of Classical Chinese texts such as the Tao Te Ching and the Chuang tzu? Edited December 24, 2018 by wandelaar
Aetherous Posted December 25, 2018 (edited) As far as I know, Mandarin, and pinyin is used for Romanized writing these days as opposed to Wade Giles. There are reconstructions of Old Chinese pronunciation, but that's a specialized field of study which is incomplete... for convenience people use Mandarin. wandelaar Posted December 25, 2018 Is there a thread somewhere on The Dao Bums where Bums who are only just beginning to study the classical Chinese language can discuss their problems and achievements?
