How can I redirect/transmute my sexual energy?

Recommended Posts

I am a 28-year old male with no significant health problems. There are certain areas in my body where I hold too much tension, and I feel that my body needs more structuring and balance. I have never done any Tai Chi or Qigong style exercises, but I am very interested in them. However, the main purpose of my post here is to ask advice about a specific problem.

So, to cut a long story short, I am attempting to 'reboot' from porn and masturbation addiction. I am trying to avoid porn and masturbation completely.

I feel like I am on the last step to recovery from my porn addiction and that I just need to refine a few things to finally be free of it. I have had quite a lot of success this year with loosening the grip the addiction has over me, but I cannot quite seem to take that final step towards recovery and keep relapsing.

The reason I keep relapsing is not really down to giving in to urges now per se. The problem is that when I go 3-4 weeks, or longer, without watching porn or masturbating, my sexual energy gets uncontrollable and it's completely overwhelming, to the point that I feel like I need to release it.

I am sure that I have come across content in the past which deals with transmuting and redirecting sexual energy through tai chi/qi gong style movements.

I have no idea where to begin. Do any of you know of any videos/books or just general movements which can help in redirecting my sexual energy? Any particular systems? And, more generally, what is a good qigong book for beginners?

Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

I'd recommend umm letting loose every 2 or 3 weeks.  Establish A healthy discipline. Control yourself by knowing yourself. You're young, not a monk, no need for all or nothing. Setting up repression.

Real celibacy, the best kind comes naturally. For now I'd recommend setting up a solid practice and  having some discipline. No need to go full monk until you've learned the various arts for transformation.  And most often that takes many  years and schooled cultivation.

We could start with Jing or vitality is not just sexual energy. Reproduce (vitality force) your actions to obtain balance and harmony.

If one makes this mistake of putting attention on sex or no sex the practice turns into a crooked path. Extremes destroy balance and harmony.

Starting a new discipline such as Tai Chi Chuan and Chi Gung will help things but do not make it about sex or any problem. Do it for awesomeness and do not settle for small accomplishments.

A new hobby or true practice is a great way to focus on something new and let the old bad habits vanish to dust. If you do not give addiction energy meaning, thinking of sex or not, do not allow the thoughts to disturb your peace.

Keep the balance and harmony only you can do the hard work. No one else is capable of doing what you need to do.

Thank you for the advice so far.

Balance and harmony is what I am after ultimately but I feel that right now, I need to remain on the road of recovery and give my brain a rest from all the damge which has been inflicted upon it. Porn addiction is no joke!

There are a couple of places near to where I live which could be helpful. One is more of a martial arts school based on the internal arts and has one session in particular which looks interesting called 'Inner Kung Fu and Taoist Yoga'.

The other option is a specific Tai Chi place. To be honest, the majority of people who attend the classes look to be pensioners! Might be a little awkward for me to join the group, but I will give it a try.
