  1. 1. Have you experienced some or all of the symptoms?

  2. 2. Did you overindulge and regret it? Did it seriously affect your outlook and life style choices?

  3. 3. Did you previously try other measures of stopping but were not fully successful? What do you think of the clove oil method?

This would be the best advice of all. Starve yourself if necessary. I am currently on a juice and soymilk fast ready to move upwards into a water fast anytime anywhere.

The fire ain't got nothing to burn when there's no fuel.

Fasting (in alternation with a healthy—preferably organic—diet) is a good thing for sure:

Swami Sivananda on Fasting and Brahmacharya

However, if the afflictions of lust are in the mind, then we can literally starve ourselves to death, and lust will still remain:

SECTION III. TECHNIQUES OF SEX SUBLIMATION

14. SUPPRESSION AND SUBLIMATION

In the Practice of Brahmacharya, what is wanted is elimination of lust, but not suppression. Suppression of the sex urge is not eradication. You can never be free of that which is suppressed. The suppressed sex desire will attack you again and again and will produce wet dreams, irritability and restlessness of mind.

Repression or suppression of the sexual desire will not help you much. If lust is suppressed, it will again manifest with redoubled force when a suitable opportunity arises, when the will becomes weak, when Vairagya wanes, when there is slackening in meditation or Yogic Sadhana, when you become weak owing to an attack of disease.

Do not try to run away from women. Then Maya will chase you terribly. Try to see the Self in all forms and repeat the formula "Om Ek Sat-Chit-Ananda Atma" very often. Remember that Atman is sexless. Mental repetition of this formula will give you strength.

Ignorant people adopt foolish methods to kill the Indriyas. They fail eventually. Many foolish aspirants amputate the organ of reproduction. They think that lust can be eradicated by such a procedure. What a great foolish act! Lust is in the mind. If the mind is subdued, what can this external fleshy organ do? Some swallow tons of nux vomica to kill this organ. They fail in their attempts to be centred in Brahmacharya. The state of their mind remains the same, though they become impotent by taking nux vomica.

What is wanted is a judicious control of the Indriyas. The Indriyas should not be allowed to run riot in sensual grooves. They should not be allowed to throw us ruthlessly into the deep pit of worldliness, like the turbulent horse carrying away the rider wherever it likes.

Brahmacharya means control, but not suppression, of the sex desire or sex force. The mind should be rendered pure by meditation, Japa, Kirtan and prayer. If the mind is filled with sublime divine thoughts by meditation, Japa, prayer and study of holy scriptures, the sex desire will be devitalised or de-energised by the withdrawal of the mind. The mind also will be thinned out.

The Fuel for Spiritual Experience

Best Regards

It sounds contradictory, but for a male, having more testosterone (and maybe for females too, I don't know) and healthy outlets for sublimating it (working out, Pranayama, Meditation, Martial Arts, Yantra Yoga, etc.), is much more conducive to sexual purity than having lower testosterone.

For us males, depression often accompanies lower testosterone, and with that depression comes more morbid, torpid, etc. thoughts; and unhealthy thought is much more damaging to chastity than the sexual energy itself (in fact the sexual energy itself IS chastity).

Thought and sexual energy are intimately related, yet having more sexual energy to sublimate and transmute through healthy outlets is much more conducive to chastity than having low testosterone.

I could explain this much better, I know. Nonetheless, this being a Taoist forum, what I'm getting at here should be quite clear for most forum members.

(See also the Sacred-Sex link in my previous post).

very interesting, thank you

Nice. Good wisdom to a thorny problem.

basically point was ..

1) the subject is <initially> about arousal ... and it features the feeling or situation of arousal in the absence of the partner in close proximity. (... a very common occurence, whether male or female)

2) this is called Jing, which ideally becomes made into Qi .... 2/3 of the 3 treasures, which includes Shen.

3) this is the energy and is the area you have to work with it. you treat it as Jing, and it is key meditational energy.

ps. this subject has affected everyone on the planet.

to elaborate, you start with making this "energy" an integral aspect of the meditation. in other words, include it in the entire meditation protocol.

this way, you integrate what was once a mystery, and find solutions quickly.

it has to be noted that in modern times commercialization of sex is a very real scourge, hence such activity is actually encouraged by the darkside business. this is obviously highly antisocial behavior since it results in alienation hence the subject of the thread. however no fear needs to be involved since understanding of this is a key aspect of the meditation.

the mediation on the subject and its solution is the key there.

"God" or the divine principle is friends with the sincere meditator, who seeks to understand energetic processes on ALL levels, leaving none out of the analysis.

the divine principle only wants completeness for the sincere individual, and this certainly includes fully satisfying relationships, and optimal spiritual wellbeing.
