Enlightenment-a TTB definition.

Recommended Posts

Many people have different ideas of what enlightenment is. We also have to remember the distinction between someone who has reached absolute enlightenment ans someone who is becoming enlightened. Also enlightenment is often defined by our motivation behind it.

Some people think the local grandma who bakes cookies for everyone and volunteers at the homeless soup hall, shows great compassion and must have absolute enlightenment. Some people may think someone who smiles constantly and seems to have their life in order has absolute enlightenment.

Looking within our hearts, some of us awake ones know that this is not enough, and we all have much more work to do. This is the reality of the situation. It's not enough to have compassion if we do not have some major force behind it, the wisdom aspect. This is reflected in alchemical transformation and shows the signs, and is why we are on this forum studying tao etc.

I like to view it from the old fashion Buddhist perspective. Absolute enlightenment is when we reach the omniscient mind, like a Buddha. And the motivation behind it is to help ourselves wake up, and save all sentient beings. The power in this state is unimaginable awareness! If we had all reached this state, we could have something similar to a utopia.

Only problem is there are some selfish people controlling god's knowledge. But we are allowed to have atom bombs?

Some of you guys know what i am talking about ;)

Isn't that an irony? We all know many ways to harm someone but few of us really know how to help others.

The good and the bad are equally available. It is our choice which path we wish to walk.

Peace & Love!
