  1. When we say scientists, what do we mean? I suppose only research scientists are scientists. Engineer, doctors and other professionals are not scientists?
  2. Nei Gong systems

I think it is not so ethical to ask newbie to donate their energy or whatever, until they have lots of them.
  3. Flying termites, also known as swarmers, are the reproductive members of a termite colony. They swarm to establish new colonies, ....
  4. Nei Gong systems

It may be worthwhile if doing once. You can compare with what the healers do. They spent a lot of Chi in healing. Then they take quite some time to recover. Even magicians have the same problem. Without the limitation, we could have seen hundreds of healers working side by side, 9 to 9 like factory workers.
  5. Ants vs Birds (Split from Is the MCO Real?)

    Is chicken bird?
  6. Nei Gong systems

It is not uncommon to exhibit some "special abilities" to attract students, even though they are not really useful. If you are going to teach, are you going to tell your prospective students that they would be imprisoned in a dark cell 12 hours a day, eating tasteless little bit of food, being pulled, twisted, bent; sitting on invisible chair, discomfort and pain magnified; prostrate to higher authority, chanting submission during the remainder of the waking time. There are many prisons in different countries offer these for free. There have to be some "incentives".
  7. Ants vs Birds (Split from Is the MCO Real?)

Really? I think all their minds are about mating and pregnancy.
  8. Turmeric

I used an Android app for EMF detection. Somehow a spot in the wall has an unusual high EMF reading, comparing with wall around it. If there is pipe or steel inside the wall, the higher reading would be recorded in a linear form. But it is only a spot. Internet says phone cannot really detect electrical current, but magnetic is possible. Any idea?
  9. Turmeric

Not latest fad. I read a blog whose owner took a lot of curcumin for over 20 years to deal with blood cancer. And there are quite a few Chinese books only for curcumin pre-Covid.
  10. Turmeric

Curcumin exerts anti-inflammatory effects by regulating inflammatory signaling pathways and inhibiting the production of inflammatory mediators. Read research paper: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8572027/ But what is the conditions that make you want to take curcumin?
  11. How to prove a coffee table exist? We use it. If it works, then it is the proof. The result is the proof. We are not talking about things like awakening, transcend, enlightenment which are immeasurable. The exercises that lead to MCO are all concrete physical bodywork.
  12. The idea of pattern is quite suitable for acupuncture, acupressure or Dao Yin. A certain trigger is applied, a pattern of events come about. But for cultivation, I am not sure. If the LDT is heated up, different patterns could occur, Chi can go up, horizontal or down. I mean the acupuncture is more for the desired end result. While cultivationwise, Chi going somewhere is normally only a mid point.
  13. Some say Chi is information. When the information hits at a certain point, the point and the surrounding area light up. It is why people feel the warmth, tingling, itchiness, pressurize, see light..... once the appropriate area is activated with information.
  14. The question is of course wrong. MCO is merely one of the methods in Neidan. How is it not real? The method itself is absolutely real. It is written in books, having people practise it for centuries. As you say, the question should be does it work as intended, does it work well, doesn't it work without too much costs or side effects..... This is a very good insight. The major aim of all kinds of trainings is to ensure haphazard, by chance happenings to be dependable, achievable as and when required.
  15. Could this trigger an AI uprising

Isaac Asimov had written about 3 laws of robots which was very famous and was intended to be a guideline for Robotics. The Three Laws, presented to be from the fictional "Handbook of Robotics, 56th Edition, 2058 A.D.", are: A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. But the Ukraine war changed all these. Robots or AI behind it are being commanded to harm human being. So there is no restraint or possibility of self restraint from then on. Whether uprisings arises out of their own "thinking" or directed by some human has the same effect.
  16. Nei Gong systems

Indeed, it is very difficult to find a right system the first time you can follow for your life. Most of the people end up having incomplete system or courses due to many reasons.
  17. Nei Gong systems

This question is quite unanswerable. Whether 2 systems are compatible can only be answered by the teachers of the 2 systems. But seldom does a teacher happen to know another system in depth. In the old days when the very original system has been taught, undiluted and unadulterated for centuries. Then another teacher may have sufficient knowledge on that system. But these days many system are recent inventions, or significantly altered, then outsiders would have no idea on what is going on.
  18. What does "do not resist an evil person" mean

This kind of response is unreasonable. No one can do that, unless it is a very light one. And it didn't mention the primary appropriate response - flight, other than fight back or accept it whatever.
  19. Definitely not MDT related or as an entry point into MDT despite the proximity. You can argue it is not a dantian, as when the work is completed in the back, the Chi would shift to LDT for further processing.
  20. instant karma,

Karma must not be related to justice. Otherwise who is to determine an event is justice or not, and what is the yard stick? The same event can be right and wrong depending on many things and the view can change after time lapses.
  21. Even normally Taoist used so many terms to describe a single object or process, according to their functions in the whole picture or simply due to some unknown reasons. Dantian and Mystic Gate are the terms that have many variations. e.g. the Central School says "between the outer and the inner Dantians". When they do not explicitly say LDT, it doesn't mean it is not LDT. I would say most people only use 1 or 2. When you say the spine, that is a good question, the location of LDT is not having a consensus. But the depth of Dantian inside the body is also not always agreed upon. Some say it is on the surface, 1.3 Chinese inches inside, the middle of the abdomen, inside the spine, the whole general area etc. The "Back" refers to the spot on the back of the body, behind the MDT (in front or in the middle). As far as cultivation is concerned, re ZZ (in another thread) and location of Dantian is not a big issue. Your system determines these. You are not supposed to change these yourself, even if you are very knowledgeable. It is not like a buffet whereby you can choose any combination of food.
  22. The western and the central school use outside Dantian or multiple Dantians. The Fukien School uses the back as the Dantian location. And in different stages, people use different Dantian/locations.
  23. My understanding for Dantian is the place you select to cultivate. It is the "field" as per the meaning of the word. Where do you till your field and grow food? It is naturally the place with sunshine, water, rich soil. In human body, we would choose a single place with best potential like abundance of blood, oxygen, nerve cluster, endocrine glands and energies to be the "field". So it is the reason to coincide with the locations of Chakra. Different systems made the same choice. Yet there are schools that use Dantian as place to rest the mind only. In that case, it doesn't have to have relationship with the Charkra or the other Taoist favourable potential "fields". It could even be outside of the body.
  24. Chakra is Indian, not western?
