Hi It is time to change the image on the header for the new year ... to Fire Horse. If you have a suitable image please submit it or a link to it in the next few days. @liminal_luke will arrange for the artwork based on the best image- NB. My little pony is probably not what we are looking for

I dreamed you were going to delete that.

I like two but I now think one is probably better ( cos Cobie said so lol ).

Ah! Yes I meant mental of course lol

I have had what I call luminous dreams (which is just a name I give them not a significant claim) where the dreams are especially bright and also stay with you - you don't forget them like ordinary dreams. They are always very significant and meaningful. But most of my dreams are just rather confused and full of my own metal stresses and concerns. The luminous dreams seem to contain messages which last and are guidance for long periods of time. I've had quite a few pre-cognition dreams where I dream about things which later come true (sometimes many years later). This proves to me that time is not linear and that all that happens to us is interconnected. I think that to rest one's consciousness in the pristine consciousness itself is quite an achievement in itself. But as a goal it is limited as it presents as a separate state - so it is prone to abstraction and negation of life and the world. But it is part of something more complete. That more complete thing engages both the subtle and physical body - and this is where the 'work' is. Whether you work through dreams or not, or through meditation and other processes, there is a task to be undertaken. I think mahamudra and dzogchen do have a fault in that this task is disguised in a lot of talk of resting in the natural state etc. which is very misleading if not fully understood. I am big fan of Karma Pakshi's three kaya model where you engage with consciousness itself, the subtle body and the physical body to form the svabhaivika kaya - but that's a whole other story.

I always assumed that the basis of chiropractic therapy was to shout ‘cheer up’ in a very loud voice until the patient runs out of the room in panic. Cheer-up-practy!

I stand with the migrant dining room chair community. Or should that be 'I sit with them?'.

This is my problem with the word indigenous. Were the Britons indigenous? They were Celts which is in itself a vague term covering a language group hailing from Central Europe. If you want truly indigenous you have to mean Mesolithic western hunter gatherers … otherwise anyone born in Britain perhaps? What exactly do we mean by indigenous?

OK enough of this. Thread locked.

Why not post this in the new sub forum created exactly for this purpose? 🙃
-
Do not bring external feuds into this website or you may be banned. I’m locking this thread - no more discussion on this please.

The mod team are a group of volunteers (that is ordinary members) whose role is to ensure that this site is a place where any member can post happily and truthfully. There are a number of rules that have been introduced over the years with the purpose of keeping the peace. These have been adopted progressively based on experience. Each report or instance of posting is considered by the mod team when it arises. We don’t issue general amnesties or permissions as we deal with each instance as it arises. The site is well run and successful and we want to keep it that way while being as permissive as possible. However if someone pushes at the general wish for mutual respect and so on they may well be suspended or banned. This would include introducing external battles and feuds onto the DaoBums site.

Welcome to the Indigenous Traditions sub forum. This is a space for discussing traditional beliefs and practices from old cultures around the world, so we can share and learn from ancient wisdom, myth and method. As ever on this forum please commit to remaining respectful to those cultures and each other - and enjoy the conversation.

Lo and behold a new sub has appeared!!!! For some reason it is a bit pale and doesn't have a blue blob. Why? I don't know. Anyway I made a pinned welcome post. So now it is up to you guys.

I have attempted to set up the sub forum 'Indigenous Traditions' but have hit some technical difficulties (based around I don't know what I'm doing). I have asked for help. Please remain calm during this period of transition, remain in your homes, drink plenty of water and breathe deeply.

I've asked the other mods if they are ok with this. Just waiting for any comments.

I like this one
-
Can I have suggestions for the best title? Indigenous belief systems? Native religions? ????
-
Yeah its a funny word which seems to have changed meaning. Maybe we could use it if we do decide to set up a sub. Look forward to see what others think.

Dragons as a symbol - differences in meaning east and west
Apech replied to S:C's topic in The Rabbit Hole
There's men and women and there's male and female principles. A man is not 100% male and a female not 100% female - we are all a balance between 60/40% to 51/49%. So any individual has both male and female principles within which they need to balance, transmute and integrate. The maiden which the knight rescues represents the naked reality of the pure feminine consciousness (voidity) and the knight is the probing male questing consciousness which is seeking out the reality of the feminine. The dragon is the chaotic forces which obscure and prevent to perfect 'marriage' of the knight and the maiden. -
I'm not against the idea although I'm not sure it would get much traffic. Also what counts as 'indigenous' given I am indigenous to England ... would that count? Maybe it would be better to have threads in Western Esoteric on Native American, African, Aboriginal beliefs?

In order to perfect your meditation it is very important to not stop thinking.
