okandalright Posted yesterday at 01:17 AM I am in my early 20s and have been struggling with a porn habit since I was a teenager. About a year and a half ago, I discovered the website Alchemical Taoism and Mantak Chia’s book Secrets of Love, and I began practicing these methods in an attempt to quit. However, I am struggling to maintain a consistent routine and continue to burn up my Jing through porn use. I’m worried that I may be playing with fire and that there could be potential health consequences if I continue like this. I’m already experiencing tight pelvic floor issues. I’m also finding it difficult to connect with a community of people around my age who practice these methods. I’m wondering if anyone would be willing to share their practice, or if there is anyone here around my age who uses these methods and would be open to sharing how they apply them in their life and relationships. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
cake1234566 Posted yesterday at 04:31 AM I would recommend staying far away from mantak chias methods, especially those dealing with sexuality They are closer to new age cults than anything taoist Theres nothing supernatural that will help you quit porn, i would suggest isolating the issue and working on it through the lens of modern psychology I wasted a few years in my teens before realizing that lol Dont worry about jing unless you find a neigong or neidan lineage, before that you're just dealing with the normal physical - mental effects of the addiction

Porn is an addiction and you should address it as such. If you can't find a solution yourself, go to a doctor who specializes in addictions.

You should quit that practice while you are still haven't gotten to that point yet. Otherwise, you will be living a very miserable life for the rest of your life. I hope you don't have any health issue right now. If you do, no problem, there is a way to correct the problem. It just require some patience and discipline on your part.

I was very stubborn in hoping these methods would work, even though I hadn’t noticed any progress. Is Neidan something that’s only worth pursuing if you have a teacher? Beyond sexual health, it seems very beneficial for the body, but I don’t want to continue making the same mistakes as before.

First thing to say is that neidan or alchemy is not therapy. So generally before undertaking any serious work like this (or similar other systems) you first have to put your house in order. This means getting your daily life in good order and yourself in a good general state of health. While doing qi gong or similar with a healthy eating and exercise routine will be good - you can't use straong energetic techniques to sort out your habits. This is why you can't maintain a consistent routine and keep falling back. 20 hours ago, okandalright said: However, I am struggling to maintain a consistent routine and continue to burn up my Jing through porn use. It is not good if you are making yourself tense and low energy. I would suggest that you try to regulate porn use progressively. So set yourself a target of so many days abstention ... then lengthen the time progressively until you have made it manageable. Also rather than trying just to eliminate the negative - build up positive qualities like physical health and fitness - as you feel better from this you may find that you are less inclined to use porn. Look also at your mental fitness and your relationships. See the whole thing as a project to get yourself from dependence to freedom. 20 hours ago, okandalright said: I’m also finding it difficult to connect with a community of people around my age who practice these methods. I'm not in your age group so I can't really suggest anything else. I'm sure you will deal with this if you set your mind to it.

FYI You do not burn up your Jing through porn use. It is rather, if done too often, you are not given enough time for the reproductive system to replenish the Jing before the next use. That is where it is critical. In the interim, you should have done some deep breathwork with Qigong. It will help to enhance the function of the Jing department. Taiji is a very good Qigong exercise. The emphasis is on the coordination of the movements with breathing and vice versa.

It looks like I need to do some serious reframing in how I approach things with some professional support. I’m a bit embarrassed that it took me so long to realize all of this, but I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to work through it and can begin practicing qigong in a healthier way. 1
RiverSnake Posted 14 hours ago As others have said, best if you stay away from Mantak Chia. I've written a bit about sexual energy and cultivation over the years, at TTB and other places, useful thread below. With regards to porn, never struggled with that addiction, but a good place to start is basic "impulse control". Your not free if you don't have control over your impulses. Start by practicing Deep Breathing every day. Five minutes daily and gradually build your practice. This type of Tech will teach you to "Slow Down" and gain better control.
