SAWAN Posted December 15, 2025 Hello everyone, I have been in the western occult side of the things like electional astrology, ceremonial magic, etc. Now interested in learning more about eastern stuff like neigong and neidan. I hope we can learn and discuss stuff together.

Was the astrology used in conjunction with that ( to decide 'when' to specific rituals or processes ) or for other purposes ?

Was the astrology used in conjunction with that ( to decide 'when' to specific rituals or processes ) or for other purposes ? Hello, I am just an armchair magician and have never had the time or space to practice. I have only performed a ritual once in my entire life, about entering someone’s dream and I don’t want to talk about it. My view of magic emphasizes practicality as I am influenced by Stephen Skinner’s rigid experimental approach, which tends to offend many people. I mostly read old translated grimoires on spirit summoning and talisman making (Stephen Skinner, Joseph Peterson, etc). For astrology, I read works by Christopher Warnock and John Michael Greer, who cover electional astrology very well which is extremely useful for talisman making. For Kabbalah, I read Israel Regardie and David Rankine, as well as Mark Rasmus and Bob Smith’s stuff on Kabbalistic letter magic from Franz Bardon method. "Was the astrology used in conjunction with that ( to decide 'when' to specific rituals or processes ) or for other purposes ? " Yes astrological timing is extremely important. Nungali Posted December 16, 2025 Eh ? You used astrological timing to decide when to read certain books about magick ? Okay ... I suppose that makes sense .

Nungali Posted December 17, 2025 (edited) Well, one use is to know the best timing for when to do certain rituals , but since you dont do ritual , what sort of things do you use it for ? I used to use parts of astrology ... and planetary movement for agriculture , particularly certain Moon rhythms , including Moon opposition Saturn, sidereal , synodic , tropical ,apogee-perige, cycles I also had a big chart I used to track things on .... Moon crossing equator seems significant , and Lunar nodes , traditionally all agricultural work suspended , etc . . Well technically, its a ritual I don't do rituals that require fasting or an empty space with no one nearby due to my circumstances. Maybe in the future, I will do rituals for spirit evocation. Most of the people I know have had great results. How was it? Did you find a real difference in your yields?

Most of the people I know have had great results. How was it? Did you find a real difference in your yields? Ohhhhh ... talismans - now I get you . I worked in the field professionally ; bio-dynamic preparations assistant and ( then later for a while ) maker and distributor . Many people seemed to think it did ( it also helps their environment ) . A few times I had talked to 'normal / straight' professional farmers who livelihood depended on it - they seemed to think it improved things . In the home front ( veggie and orchid gardening ) some of the more simple uses have been obvious for decades . One simple example I have found myself is , regarding weeding , it can be difficult and often the plant breaks leaving the roots (and regrowth ) behind if not dug out . But if you do it during the waning Moon when Moon is in an earth sign , the whole plant and root comes out so much easier ... as if the soil is loosened and the plant 'lets go ' . For seed raising the 48 hrs leading up to the Full Moon . I did experiments a few times , to do it other times you waste a lot of seed and you also get better robust and healthier plants germinated from seed before the Full Moon . On the 'negative ' side eg ; pest elimination , depending on the type, for example an animal , you would use things like retrograde Venus in an appropriate sign as the timing .
