Can an English speaker read Beowulf? And that’s from ‘merely’ a 1000 ago. Languages evolve. Absolutely! Still, I have yet to read a translation of the DDJ that does not point directly to the Tao with great clarity, though translations seem more clear (IN ENGLISH). This is true for almost almost all representations in all "non-dual" philosophical documents.
Cobie Posted May 23 (edited) I don’t teach because I know, that would be boring; I teach because I don’t know and need to hear that message again and again. Edited May 23 by Cobie 1 1

Mark Foote Posted Tuesday at 10:49 PM (edited) Glad to see this thread is still going great guns. Is this opinion popular, or what: Ain't it hard to stumble, and land in some muddy lagoon 'Specially when it's nine below zero and three o'clock in the afternoon (Outlaw Blues, Bob Dylan) Dylan is worthy of the Nobel Prize in literature, don't you think? Here's one that's always popular: Edited Tuesday at 10:50 PM by Mark Foote
Nungali Posted Wednesday at 01:05 AM Its even to harder to stumble and land in a muddy lagoon when you have full dress redcoat, boots, guns, ammunition belts and other heavy gear . Pemelway's mob ... got chased from Sydney by the governor's soldiers (he speared the governor's game keeper after he was dishonest and attempted to use trickery to kill Pemulway , Pemulway saw it coming and killed the gamekeeper * . The cut across the west of Botany Bay and headed towards the other side peninsular towards Kurnell ( the first 'landing place ') / Cronulla ( where I grew up ) . The soldiers , being 'smarter' decided on the short cut the Aboriginals did not take and instead of going around the shoreline, decided to short cut them by going through a large mangrove lagoon. . . full of deep black mud ... that's why the Aboriginals didn't cross there . Soldiers git stuck and had to endure the nearby Aboriginbal 'cat calls' bared buttocks pointed in their direction and various spears and missiles . * 'Let's meet in peace and talk ' said the game keeper ' But you have spears , better throw them down on the ground first ." " But you have a pistol , you throw your pistol down first ." He does , so then Pelmulway throws his spears down, away from himself and the Gamekeeper ; " Sucker ! " and dives for his pistol , but before he can take it up and fire it ... spear straight through the throat, in one side of the neck and out the other . The gamekeeper did not know the trick apparently ; an accomplished Aboriginal can walk through the bush and grass , seemingly unarmed but holding a spear, behind the point between the big and second toe and tread on the shaft , dragging it along with each step , in an instant , a 'front snap kick ' and release can deliver a fairly long and accurate flight . ... OH , the 'unpopular opinion ' that started all this trouble ? Pemelway's mob used to hunt and supply the Sydney settlement with meat (imagine if that continued ... no need for cattle and sheep and the huge and devastating nationwide destruction their importation created ... and trade for the Abiriginals and other endless benefits ) . But the authorities reneged on the deal , tried to change the original agreement and then ( oooooo .. don't say that ! ): The governors game keeper explained that now the English owned everything , the land was the governor's estate and actually E HE , the gamekeeper now owned all the animals and as gamekeeper he was the one that governed the what and how of ALL those animals and how they should be utilized ) . A very unpopular opinion, amongst the original inhabitants, no doubt! I still have faith, that the gift of the sciences of the peoples may combine with the gift of the sciences of the so-called modern world (those sciences sometimes a curse) to see humanity living in peace across the globe. To realize a change in myself, should be all that's really necessary, I think. How's that for unpopular. Edited Wednesday at 10:27 PM by Mark Foote

So many things came true in my dreams ... or conscious 'insistence ' Little Nungali : " Dad , why cant they give those Aboriginal people, that they will not give other jobs to , that don't seem to know what to do a job in the National Park as rangers ... then they would be able to do the things they are supposed to be doing AND fit in with what we want done as well ? " 'Good ol' Dad ' : " Well, little Nungers, that won't work , you don't understand yet ..... they can't do work like that ! " and now ??????????????? After 160 years, Aboriginal cultural burning returns to Coranderrk Station - ABC News https://wwf.org.au/what-we-do/caring-on-country/cultural-burning/ If you ever come here and take a tour ... go with an indigenous one ... they really know the land, the animals , the special places ... and besides ... its their 'country 'anyway . If you politely acknowledge that and ask for a special tour ... boy, will they look after you !
