Recommended Posts

What is the commonly accepted location? I see some teachers that say it's directly behind the belly button. And other teachers put it 2-3 finger widths below the belly button, directly behind the lower dantian

I don't recommend using the belly button as a reference point because that can vary depending on physical build and body habitus.

Better to use the kidneys as a reference for locating ming men, at least that is how I was taught.

For me, there's a 'point' lower and more inner that I seem to strike during deep relaxed breathing.

While not specifically about mingmen, this talk is helpful in describing the opening of points. There are valid differences in the process of precision location used for the purpose of needling, versus connecting it up from within.
