as are 'all' indian traditions

Not all Indian traditions are contemplative. Some are purely devotional (dualistic traditions). Some are heavily method-oriented (Tantra, yoga). But maybe this thread needs to be moved out of the ‚Äúdaoist‚ÄĚ sub-forum, as it seems we‚Äôre discussing non-daoist systems here.¬†

For the record, that 'lose a pair' bit is indeed Betty White's.

She did a guest spot on a show I was crewing, Community and I happened to have the good fortune to be doing standby when she shared that bit, in person on set one evening.  Even having heard it before, with her presence and delivery... if laughter could enlighten...  she at least sent a few of us to laughter nibbana for a few heartbeats that day.

My teacher has shared the purpose/achievements of our practice as:

1. To be happy and able to flow with the changes in the world.

2. To understand the nature of reality

3. To clean up our celestial mandate prior to returning to the Dao

Cheer up, wise up, clear up!
