Craving

Recommended Posts

Thank you Stosh,

The lady was use as a subject matter; one of the things that we remembered was that

we made a choice in liking or disliking something, even when the apparent reasons for that liking or disliking

disappears.

We'd still cling to our likes or dislikes.

I like your comment about the minds, the minds maybe functioning all right all along.

Even their composition or decomposition is to their nature isn't it?

Wish you a nice weekend,

XJ

Dunno , but I guess it is

at least one person I asked (who has no interest at all in these subjects)

said she felt she was , is and always has been , as far as she can tell

integrated regarding her subconscious and conscious mind even though she knows she

isnt aware of all of it at the same time.

Sometimes it appears quite unnatural to attempt to make any sort of

divide between these aspects of experience

The often described proceedures of meditation may make folks experience

things differently , but the folks who say that persisted at it probably found it

pleasant

and the folks who found it unnerving tedious and unpleasant probably

didnt ( self fulfilling situation there)

The folks that seem to- indicate that they meditate significantly or have

moved on to "higher states" - just dont strike me as being nicer or calmer

or less neurotic than folks who dont make those claims.

I am not knocking either here , Im just saying that they arent presenting any

statistical difference from folks who dont practice any of this brain stuff that stands out to me.

Having said that.. I would say there are a lot of nice bright people in general

who are participating here .

I chalk that up to folks trying to find their virtue -- fix the paradigms they live.

Since thats where I see merit arising , thats where I find the merits to be.

It makes me wince to read some things that just seem to be pushing these

folks at confusions , away from acceptance.

But thats just me , the majority seem to feel that enlightenment is an escape inward

rather than an outward one

(By that I mean finding a harmony with both the external constraints of thier human

situation , and the mental topography they already are.)

Its OK either way to me- objectively speaking-, that which others choose for themselves...

If they want void ,or god ,or full spectrum light ,

But subjectively- for my own peace- I prefer if they end up ..wellbeing.

(If that makes any sense)

(( so I guess I am still 'clinging to likes and dislikes' too))

Indeed Stosh, thank you for your post imbue with sincerity.

There are those that comprehends the world as a whole complete unity.

There are also those that comprehends the world through each moment experiences.

I dont see much differences in the two.

I have heard from somewhere that as we cultivates, the more mundane we see of ourselves, the more profound we see of the world. We might not become nicer, calmer or less neurotic than any other but if cultivation makes us nicer, calmer and less neurotic than our former selves then by cultivation; this is our best gift tp the world.

If enlightenment is anywhere, it will be at the same place as our ignorances. In midst of confusion or like the hottest fire, it can forge and melt.

When one neither accepts or rejects, what is there?

Enough of that for now;

If one is at peace then it is all alright.

Take care

Xj

The form of cravings is directly linked to what is being experiences in the moment.

They are conditioned wants that occur to pull us away from the current experiences.

The medicines for them is knowing them at the current moment -> wisdom comes to rid the mind of ignorances and hence the craving.

Ignorance is the sole cause of Craving.

Interesting discussion and posts. An enjoyable read.

I've isolated the above as I think this is central to both the question and perhaps some sort of answer. It is DDJ Chapter 1 in

a nutshell, more or less. "the Sages remain without desire and so they are able to see The Beauty(miao), while others' desires lead them to define The Beauty 妙, and thus they lose true perception of it."

The moment, Miao, Mystery, The Beauty, "Thusness", quality. What is it we're after? The paradox of asking this question is like 33.333333333333333333.. lol..
