According to li honzi ( founder of falun gong) every person has a passing immortal who can influence your thoughts. If the immortal think the person is worthy than he becomes his gaurdian immortal who influences you on the right path until you become an enlightened being. I believe the" fear" you mentioned due to the influence Of this immortal. I think you should read this book " Zhuan falun" -
