Nuralshamal posted a topic in InterviewsDear friend, In this topic I'll share some of my own greatest hits, as well as the "secrets" from my different masters which have really surprised me. The things you can't find in any books and no one speaks openly about, yet can really help. Others are simply my own "take-homes" that really made a difference for me personally. Chunyi Lin Jing and longevity Most qigong alchemy, theory, books, classes, herbal medicine etc. talk a lot about the importance of Jing for a long and healthy life. It's the first step: to secure, replenish and consolidate the Jing. The lower dan tien and the Kidneys are very related to our Jing. Something Chunyi Lin has noticed in his many years of healing however, is that many sick people who died "young" (i.e. before 60) didn't necessarily have depleted Jing. This surprised him for many years, because it seemed to go against the idea that Jing is the most important for longevity. However, what he discovered through his observations was that many of the people who died "young" still had great Jing. What he then found out was that it was actually their middle dan tien that was out of order. This was mostly due to emotional blockages and unresolved emotional issues. Therefore he actually focuses on the Middle Dan Tien with many patients, which he has found out works very well. This is a shared observation with my other teacher Zhongxian Wu, who's said many times "all disease comes from the "Heart"". "Heart" here understood as our mind, our emotions and our middle dan tien. The importance of the physical body This is of coure a shared idea in daoism, namely that the health of the physical body is very important. However, the way Chunyi Lin uses this in practice is phenomenal. Someone had severe lung cancer, but didn't have that much time to practice. He simply told him to stand with his arms above his head as long as possible every day, at least for ten minutes in a row. This is because this posture physically forces open the lung channel. After two weeks of daily standing in this posture, the patient improved marvelously and noted "I can breathe so much better now!". Another example of using the physical body along with the knowledge of the importance of the middle dan tien is a women who had an undiagnosable illness. She was nauseous, losing weight, low energy, fever, bad sleep and many other symptoms. However, the doctors couldn't find any illness. She was told to stand in a posture, and meditate on her middle dan tien. After only two weeks, she was completely cured. Another example of the importance of the physical body is the "qi field" of the different organs. Everything is qi: the heat radiation from a bon fire, the fresh air near the ocean, the smell of good food, these are all coming from the qi field of the bonfire, ocean and food respectively. Therefore you can monitor the qi field of each of your 5 organ systems through your physical body! If something is going on with your tendons, it's because the qi field of the liver is affected. If something is going on with your eyes, it's because the qi field of either the Liver or Small Intestine is affected. Each day your body is communicating the state of your 5 organ systems through the qi field of each organ. Qigong is for all aspects of life In your money making, relationships, love life, family life, sex life, food, leisure time, decoration, everything is qigong. The universe is made up of qi, so qigong is the study of the whole universe. He always gives easy to follow and practical advice. To much radiation from computers and electronics in your home or office? Put more plants near the devices and keep a bowl of water in the room you stay in the most. Stressed out at work? Go into the bathroom and do a certain neck exercises with breathing and visualisation to release the negative qi from your system. Had a fight with a family member and they won't talk to you? Use hand mudras, breathing, meditation and prayer to heal the relationship. Simply move your decorations around, wear different clothes, practice facing different directions or use specific foods depending on the astrological qi of that particular year, month, day and time. Zhongxian Wu Just like I quoted above, he also often states "all disease starts in the Heart". Therefore it's actually mostly our emotions which make us sick. This should be dealth with by understanding which organ system the emotion is related to, work more on that organ (with mantras, mudras, talismans, feng shui, sleeping direction, food, colors of clothes etc) and then release that emotion. Furthermore, talismans are the most powerful qigong he's learnt in his life. I agree, one of the best things I've learnt in my life is the talisman qigong. The power of combining posture, mantra, mudra, breathing and visualisation with the talisman attracts and builds very strong qi. This qi can be used for healing, cultivation, feng shui or anything one wants. My sexual qigong teacher The saliva and sexual fluid are full of jing and qi. By keeping it under your tongue and letting it dissolve, before swallowing it into your dan tien, you can absorb it into your system, strengthen yourself as well as harmonize the yin and yang (if it's a man and a woman who's together). The genital organs have all the organ systems in them. The testicles are the "external kidneys" and the penis is connected to all of your 5 organ systems. The head is the Heart, then comes the lungs, then the spleen and liver, and finally the kidneys at the base. By stimulating these different zones in different ways, you can heal your 5 organ systems. If you grab and hold a particular zone, and stimulate it (without ejaculating!), and don't let go of your grip, you build up the energy in that organ stronger and stronger and stronger. Do it for as long as you can without ejaculating. When you let go, all the built up energy rushes from the penis into that organ system. E.g. grab it hard by the base (the Kidney area), and simply go up and down as much and as long as you can (without letting go of the grip, without ejaculating and without letting your grip go out of the Kidney zone). When you let go, you should be able to fell the qi rushing into your organs. If you're starting to catch a cold, masturbate without ejaculating 10 times that same day. The next day (or during the day) you will have healed yourself from that cold. Comparison between Chinese and Western teachers' ideas about qigong and some of my own observations Both Chunyi Lin, Zhongxian Wu and my sexual qigong teacher agree that "feeling" is very important. "Feel the exercise", "feel your body", "pay attention to the movements", "feel with your hands", "feel the tingling". This is something I didn't understand until quite recently. The reason is that each of your organs have a jing, qi and shen component. E.g. the shen of the kidneys are your sense of hearing, the sense of the liver is your sense of sight, the sense of your heart are your sense of taste, the sense of smell is your lungs and your sense of "feeling" or where you "pay attention" is the sense of your spleen. When you "listen" to something, you can energetically see (that's how I've perceived it) a blue field going from your kidneys, out through your ears and then traveling to whatever you're listening to and enveloping them/that. By "listening" to your kidneys, you put your kidney spirit back into your kidneys. This is of course extremely healing. When you're very powerful, simply by "listening" to a glass of water, a patient's heart, your kidneys, your kidney spirit heals them/that or puts healing energy into them. All systems of meditation talk of "sense control", and "turning the senses inward". I thought this was just for concentration, but with energetic vision and my teacher's explanations as well as transmission, now I can see why it's important. Furthermore, many western teachers discourage visualisation. They say it will make your practice worthless, because you'll be fantasizing about your practice and thereby ruining it. Instead you should simply feel your body and let things happen on their own accord. However, both Chunyi Lin and Zhongxian Wu say that visualisation is extremely important, and they employ it with all students from the very first day and most basic training. Conclusion Those were some of my own greatest hits. I'll put in more as I get more, as I remember more things to be shared, or in case of questions Be blessed! EDIT: addendum I wanted to share yet another interesting similarity between Vethathiri Maharishi and my sexual qigong teacher. My sexual qigong teacher taught me a certain exercise which in his words: "converts surplus semen from the hui yin into jing in the lower dan tien, energy in the middle dan tien and spirit in the upper down dan tien, as well as opening the bai hui" Vethathiri Maharishi's "Kaya Kalpa Yoga" exercises for converting (in his words): "the sexual vital fluid into spiritual energy". The exercise is identical. This is something that stunned me as I learnt it. The postures they use are different, however, the breathing technique, mantra and visualisation is close to identical. How could someone from South India teach a certain technique for conversion of sexual energy, which is completely identical to something taught in China? It was a very secret technique that can't be found in any books. Something from Chunyi Lin and Vethathiri Maharishi also resembles each other a bit, with a few differences. It's regarding how sense-impressions enter and affect our energy system. First, according to Chunyi Lin: The impression from the outside world enters our system through our senses (eyes, ears, nose, mouth or skin). Then the energy travels to the brain. Afterwards, it's journey through the body is different between men and women. For women, the energy goes from the brain into the breasts. From there it goes the female organs, namely uterus, ovaries, bladder etc. For men, the energy goes from the brain into the liver, and then down to the bottom of the torso, i.e. bladder, prostate etc. Therefore, very recent negative emotional information causes headaches and neck tension, as the energy is in the brain. This is healed through a simply neck exercise coupled with breathing and visualisation. Negative emotional information which happened some time ago would cause problems in the breasts for women and the liver for men. This is healed through postures, breathing, mantras, massage and visualisation which open the related channels. Work on the middle dan tien is used, mainly through the visualisation part. Deeply and long held negative emotional information (traumas) is stuck in the female organs for women, bladder/prostate for men. This is healed by working on the lower dan tien. Second, according to Vethathiri Maharishi: Vethathiri also states that impressions enter our system through our senses. Then it goes into the brain, and is send down through spine and the chakras, and finally lands in the root chakra (muladhara chakra). Inside the muladhara chakra is a grand archive storing ALL sense impressions ever experienced, by yourself as well as your family line. The incoming sense impression is then compared to any other similar experience in the archive. Afterwards, any similar experiences goes up through the chakras and spine into the brain. This then makes the person aware of other former experiences that could help them in dealing with and/or understanding the sense impression. The way to enlightenment according to Vethathiri Maharishi is actually by purifying the "genetic centre" inside the muladhara chakra, the grand archive. It holds all our habitual tendencies. By slowly eliminating negative habitual tendencies (thoughts, words or deeds which harm ourself or others), we purify ourselves. By slowly building positive habitual tendences (through thoughts, words and deeds which cause benefit to ourselves, and others) we strengthen ourselves. When the ratio between negative and positive habitual tendencies becomes favorable, an enlightenment experience can occur. After this experience, the practicioner is to continue the work of improving the ratio between positive and negative tendencies, as well as going into enlightenment every day. This will over time strengthen the positive habitual tendency of enlightenment, which when it reaches "critical mass" in the end can destroy all negative habitual tendencies in one single go.
