  1. why so serious?

    Sure, why not?
  2. Zhengyi or Quanzhen

Well, what, exactly, do you think the Qanzhen people were trying to do? Hung Gar is one of the Five Family Shaolin derived styles of martial arts. Some people call it Tiger-Crane style. My teacher was Michael Dillard, his, Cheung Shiu Pui, his, Ho Lap Tin, his, Dang Fong, his, Wong Fei-hung(whom you may know of).
  3. Zhengyi or Quanzhen

Not really. What do you think they were practicing in Eva Wong's book? Sounds like the way to go. In other news: I've practiced Hung Gar and Western Renaissance weapons for many years.
  4. Zhengyi or Quanzhen

    Yes
  5. Elevenses
    Blow you blasted metal
    Blow, you rattling contraption
    You lumpen bit of steel
    You whistling, gurgling thing
Blow, you steaming winds of Cathay
where Mandarin shirtsleeves touch the floor
and thin-eyed coolies load bales to fill my porcelain
Blast, you caloric mix of water, earth, wind, and fire
    straight from the Maharaja,
with elephants treading carefully between the fields
    It is long past elevenses
and I am parched with thirst.
  6. Zhengyi or Quanzhen

Yeah, I have that one. Now that you mention it I do remember that. I was mostly making a joke about the picture(obviously from some film I've seen-it looks familiar).
  7. Zhengyi or Quanzhen

The Quanzhen guys look like they could kick ass in a fight, so I'm voting for them
  8. Just observe the people around you...
  9. LDT meditation without a teacher

And if one sees an orange-red ball or a green ball with slow-motion "flames" outside the body? What can this mean, if anything?

  11. Seeking personal power - Good or bad?

..and as in many ancient cultures we see that Virtue is aligned with Power. The twin pillars of Truth and Beauty, or Virtue and Justice, reflect the lowest denominator upon the earth, awesome as they are. But if we have Power, or Beauty, or Justice, what good does it do us if we don't move with the Way of things, or God? We express ourselves in this world of forms and there are forms beyond this in the other world of forms. But what are we trying to do, paint pretty pictures in a world of pictures or to see the canvas beyond? And perhaps the canvas itself is part of the picture? Power is illusory. The real question is what happens when you die, or even before then, since there is no real difference. This is meant as a reply to the question itself, not specifically with Zerostao, who has asked reasonable questions. I put it here because it addresses a more specific thing.

  13. Seeking personal power - Good or bad?

Power is simply the ability to do something. You may be born with some powers and acquire others later and perhaps even lose some. What have you lost and what have you gained? How are they important if you don't know how to use them? If you do something good with them is the power itself, then, good? What good is it if you can't help others, and how can you help others if you can't help yourself? So if you discover you have "power," then what should you use it for? Should you use it at all? In any case every major religion will give you the answer without a riddle, but be aware that most don't follow the deepest ideals of their own belief system even when those systems have already given them the answer to this question.
