9 minutes ago, Taomeow said:In the '70s, the Japanese guy I went on a tangent about earlier studied yogic levitation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The exercise he described, I can do. The Maharishi had his students sit in full lotus in meditation and then at some point start to hop upward, hoping the hop will eventually get higher and the time lapse before plumping back on one's butt, longer. Well, I can hop in lotus... but never progressed from there.
You never got lesson 2 ?
1. Compress and bend spine . Push your knees down hard and jerk your body up straight and you will go a little way up into the air ....
2. Now ... flap your knees ... real fast !

Ohhh you missed that whole stupid fiasco ' they ' tried to concoct ?
Also there is another one ;
You culturally appropriated Kabbalah !
(I'll spare you the linked info on 'cultural appropriation ' ... it may not be relevant for a internet site of westerners that practice eastern arts
)
- I was about to log out after that first laugh of the day , but I see they are still coming !

I´d feel bad for you except I can´t think of anybody less likely than you, Nungali, to expend a lot of emotional energy worrying about another Bum´s opinion, negative or positive. At least that´s my impression of you. If I´m wrong and you´re secretly crying alone in a bathroom stall, let me know.
No ... you hear that satisfied gloating coming from the other stall down the end ... that's me .

Some tub humor ;
On the community we have an amenities block with toilets, showers bath washing machines dryers. The bath had a coin operated gas hot water back up system for the rainy season . It annoyed me as a $1 coin would not fill it to the required level but 2 of them was an overfill and you would turn the hot water off after about 25cents worth of the second coin . I was asking if it could be adjusted .
Upspoke one rather ..... constantly verbal ..... woman of ...... 'generous proportions ' ; " I don't find that at all , I find 0ne coin is sufficient to fill the bath for me . "
And I was " Ummmm .... yeah , but that's ......... you . " Everyone else at the community meeting is smiling and looking at me wondering how I am going to explain it ... to this well known for being stubborn person ."
" Well ! I don't see the difference , I don't see why you would two coins and I only one ."
" Ummmm .... because we are different people ."
" Well .... humpf .... I don't see why, even if you want to have the bath up to your neck level , I find as soon as I get in , it comes right up to the top anyway , and you cant put more water in if its already at the top ! "
" Yeah well ... that's sort of my point ." the group is smiling and looking at me in further anticipation .
"What is your point ?"
" Well .... Ummmm .... its an issue of ..... displacement ."
" Harumpf ! I don't see how that would have anything to do with it ."
Here she is on a boat trip ......

What´s important to me is that AI quotes are clearly marked as such, so there´s no confusion between human and machine. In this case, AI was able to call up and summarize material that I learned in a Jewish mysticism class thirty years ago in a way that I would of struggled to do on my own.
Right ! That's it ! How dare you ! I am never speaking to you again ! You are now on ignore !

My friend that was running a 'beauty products' business , that pushed 'exotic products ' sent back from OS a supply of traditional eye liner in a little decorative wooden pot with applicator ... sort of Egyptian style . Her and her Facebook customers were excited by it . I asked her what it felt like wearing that thick goo around the eyes , she said " It burns a bit at first but then you get used to it ."
Wow !

7 hours ago, Taomeow said:I didn't mean to discourage anyone from going to the bathroom or taking a shower. Perhaps, based on personal experience, I would caution against doing yoga in the bathtub while taking a bath, especially halasana aka the plow pose. That's because the space in the tub is tight and surfaces slippery, and getting stuck is quite likely if these two factors cause your shoulders to slide forward while your legs, the moment they touch the wall behind your head, lock you in this position with your head possibly underwater -- unless you're at least cautious enough to have nearly drained the tub before doing something this poorly thought through.
Silly you !
I always drain the tub before doing yoga in it !
(actually my tub is outside with a fire in it , each corner is propped up by a stack of concrete bricks , one corner has started to crumble .... so I am careful even getting in or out ..... one day though ......

I've told family members to never let electrical cords get near water or get wet!
We usually loose a few during winter . One time, household was cold so dad shuts all doors and windows , and gets something to burn some wood in , lights a fire inside in a closed house .... no chimney or anything .
I think the main cause of death in the home is stupidity .

As Nungali sometimes says , " I never knew true philosophers were supposed to agree in the first place , how else are we going to get the full range of the human perspectives on 'reality' ? " Only one of them can be right , eh ?

My experience -> verbal utterances in my mind -> written words ->... - > ...->undersea cables->... -> -> your computer screen - > your eyes -> you verbally uttering the words in your mind -> you abstracting the feeling. We can take out a lot of steps if we just discuss in person. But ultimately its me conveying my experience to you though verbal utterances. But your abstraction of the experience is not the experience. You have to go out and do it to have the experience. and as much as you read about it or watch videos of it on youtube, that does not substitute for the experience itself (yet I see everyone glued to their phones everywhere I go, even at the beach.)
You are preaching to the 'unconverted' here .
But I have to contest some of the above as I already have had the experience and what I have already experienced I related to your words ... not that I was saying that reading your words gave me the experience , no , it is an assumed empathy , I assume you had a similar experience to what I already had and I felt in conveyed in the words .
I agree with you about phones though .... a classic scene from years back .... everyone in a crowd standing up to see some significant part of the event , a few years later, same event , at a crucial part its a sea of hands going up with phones in them . I never even took that many old school photographs in pre smart phone days ..... I got eyes a brain and a memory thanks
I lost a good friend and GF to phones ...... she could not seem to get off her phone , even playing simple puzzle games on it . I decided she could stay at her place and do that , now when I go away on a trip or a little holiday , I go by myself , instead of taking along someone who has their head buried in a phone all day .
And now I am virtually a hermit , an unknown , as I still refuse to have anything to do with social media . NO one knows me as I don't have an existence in 'reality' .... 15 years ago, I could walk down the street in another town and people would know who I was ( due to vvarious work I did in alternative community , festivals, pagan groups, indigenous gatherings ..... I don't even get invited to indigenous gatherings anymore ..... wanna learn about a supposedly 60,000 year old culture ? Sorry , all arrangements, programs and attendances are now organized through face book !
what a fuck up !
and so many other things .... martial arts , kids didn't want to spend two weeks training ... what for ? I can do all that 'gaming ' .

14 hours ago, Sherman Krebbs said:One problem with quoting and attribution is that English is very imprecise. The same word can mean dozens or even hundreds of subtly different things, and some words are so abstract that their meaning seems to float off into infinity. In English, it is quite easy to equivocate on someone's meaning, or perhaps just misunderstand. I am personally of the opinion, however, that words are meaningless (and the fact that they can be coherently generated through AI seems to confirm my understanding), that they carry no more significance than the song of a garden bird, the harmonic relationship of one utterance to one-another being their only meaning in logic and understanding. We can build computer tools to better understand and simulate that harmony, but it cant scratch the surface of the feeling of gliding seamlessly on rollerskis across a newly asphalted biking path (or tai chi, or whatever). The wind against my body seems to be the only true reality.
But you did rather well there ^ !
I even started to feel the gliding floating feeling ( without all the little bumps ) as if I WAS cruising along new asphalted bike path .... and yes it is very similar to the gliding feeling I would have when walking home at night from aikido training .

Im not saying its ok. It just seems to often happen.
I don't see why when one all has to do is hit the quote button .
Its actually more effort to edit mangle and subtly change ones quoted post :

Suggestions of an 'illumined tradition' , 'gnostic' - ( see passages related to this re ; 'the knower' and the extra dynamic that exists between 'one who knows' (some inner or extra meaning or associations ) that gives an inner or deeper teaching - an understanding of the teaching on an inner level .
Previous to this passage on the 'encapsulated technique' ;
A contemporary approach to the Gathas has affirmed: "The breadth of themes and density of Zarathushtra's philosophical reflection is overwhelming." An extending consideration is expressed: "Zarathushtra's theism and views of the social world are 'the first philosophy'." His authorship of the Gathas is here described in terms of: "composed and recited complex, aesthetically sophisticated metrical poetry with intentionally enigmatic lexical and syntactic ambiguities, coded alliterations, a technique of scrambling key words, ring-compositional generation of poems out of the sequential vocabulary of preceding poems, and quasi-spatial compositional patterns" (Olga Louchakova-Schwartz, Intersubjectivity and Multiple Realities in Zarathushtra's Gathas, 2018).
