KJ90 Posted February 8 I know qigong practice gradually develops a certain level of internal qi awareness, but how can a person become fully aware of their internal energies? I have been reading one of Dr. Pang Ming's books and he outlines a few different ways to develop various "psychic" abilities that allow you to diagnose others such as: - tòu shì (internal vision) - gǎn yìng (sensory reaction diagnosis method) - gǎn zhī (direct knowledge) - Learning to see qi with your eyes I have also heard of other practices like samyama on the manipura chakra developing the ability to feel all your internal channels, and Daniel Ingram claims that during a period of intense kasina meditation practice during a retreat he was able to feel all of his chakras and meridians. Although he noted that all of his experiences might have been hallucinations since kasina practice tends to cause those. I wondered if these or any other practices would eventually enable one to diagnose their own blockages, qi amount and quality in various organs, as well as being able to sense and differentiate between yin and yang qi, shen, acquired jing and prenatal jing, etc... Having detailed feedback like that would be invaluable to someone's practice.
NeiChuan Posted April 11 Before anything I'd recommend increasing sensitivity to energy. Naturally after that it all has to do with the practices you're doing that will gather/stimulate these energies. Some will take a longer time to develop, so even if you're very sensitive you won't always be feeling them. I don't know where you're at. However I don't think most people know just how dead their senses are, even a large amount of people doing Neidan. I would recommend something called Chi Permeation. It's a basic method of circulation that increases sensitivity. I attribute a lot of my progress to this method setting me up for success. I'm sure it's online, and it's in the book Qi gong Empowerment. Goes a long way. Hope it helps.
exorcist_1699 Posted Wednesday at 08:47 AM (edited) I think whatever qi cultivation you do , some criteria are required which enable you to judge whether you are on the right path . Taoist cultivation , with attainment and upgrade of qi, then Shen , as its main characteristics, does have some unique ones : 1) Feeling of a hot stream of energy arising from body bottom to the head ; ( capable of initializing qi ) 2) At some moment, a sudden bright dot/ball appeared in front of you provided that visualization of light is never a way of your practice ; ( proof that certain quality of jing embedded in your qi ; if no light , means deficient jing ) 3) 'Jumps ' at the perineum area ; ( gateway to earth '地戶' opened , a place of life and death) 4) A feeling of hollow at the forehead ; ( initial crack open at the gate of heaven '天門' ) 4) Self cure ability for many ailments like coldness , small tumor , deterioration of eyesight , poor memory ability , weak digestion ..etc ; ( your qi starts to get some healing power ) 5) Although previously you are not that smart, but after practicing qigong, you can now grasp whatever new, strange problems you come across.. ; ( practicing qi gives rise to intelligence, leading to shen.. ) Taoist cultivation ,despite being a strange system of theory alien to most people, is no different from other scientific systems that needs proofs . The main difference is that Taoist one uses our own body which composes of jing and qi , and our mind , as materials and tools for exploration.
