Immortality Physical and NonPhysical

There was discussion about end goals of various cultivation systems, in most cases it boils down to immortality.

Quote

The point of Mo Pai never was physical immortality.  Even Bodhidharma, and Chang Sen Fang who are said to have reached level 72 also grew old and died. (c) Megamind

Quote

It requires actual skill and training to be able to full exteriorize your energies from physical body.

You need decades of training to be able to be fully aware outside of your physical body and be able to freely move and levitate there.

You need to have talent to be able to move from out of body physical border plane, to real planes that are full with energy sources and sentient beings. Making portals by entering location of a particular spiritual plane and invading high level planes is something far beyond anything JC has shown in his trivial vids.

This is the "path of non-physical immortality". In the most direct way, as you exist without physical body.  (c) Gsmaster

As for myself, I have confidence that at the very least if the death comes to the physical vessel, I will be able to have full control in the energy body, to move to the one of the spiritual planes, locate proper energy sources and keep going for few decades or even centuries before a necessity comes for another reincarnation.

So for physical immortality, it is essential,  that it has to start with the halt to the aging process.

We are all aging. Apparently even the DNA of the body itself has limits for multiplication, when DNA code gets worn off, there are errors in cell multiplication process and the body starts to fall apart and die quite literally.

Not aging = Somewhat physically immortal. Even if you can be killed by external causes, in positive conditions you could live hundreds or even thousands years.

Before proving whether  physical immortality is possible  or not,  people  have to stop and reverse the aging process ; if people can't reverse aging , then it is senseless to talk about physical immortality . Luckily , to prove whether aging process can be reversed or not  is not that complicated and only takes you  few weeks time , say , you indulge yourself few weeks in overnight wine drinking, sex , online games..etc , then you get a  withered face with some wrinkles .., then you try using Taoist way to  reverse it..; so the  success or not  of that reversing method can only cheat you  few weeks  not long ;  besides, the proof   of  whether physical-immortality feasible   is  more reliable than those spiritual-enlightenment ways as you can see its effects easily , hardly will it waste   you years of time ,  even a whole lifetime .

A very long life span also grants you enough time and energy to  explore the spiritual arena , the secret of the universe and complicated issues  like time,  dimensions, gravity , AI ..etc, which are all related  ;  the so-called Meng first, Xing later  principle is really good for most people .

Another question is about qi accumulation vs being immortal.

Many athletes have high qi in their bodies and perish.

The athletes don't know how to retain or refine their energy, and so it is lost.  There are others, called practitioners of real nei kung, who are also athletes although you may not think of them as such.  They learn how to accumulate more and more energy, how to retain it, and importantly how to refine it.

A lot of people who have 'energy' are commonly full of sick energy, probably like a of of the sporty type athletes you are thinking of, and the quality of a person's energy is most important for reaching the goal of immortality.

Building a lot of high quality healthy energy will lead a person towards physical immortality.  Keep in mind, even the physical immortals die after awhile, and I think that in our age of poison that the types of physical immortals that live for two hundred years or more are not possible any more.

Advancing towards high level celestial immortal is a different ball game.  The path of physical immortal is an essential element of it, but more is required, like a lot of sitting meditation, and developing the ability to astral project, and I mean real astral projection, not lucid dreaming.    For a person to be able to astral project, but who is missing the other two legs of the stool, celestial immortality will be difficult.

Low level celestial immortal, like hungry ghosts are, is not so difficult for people to arrive at, and yet, when most people die their energy and identity simply evaporates into the background energy field and is gone, gone, gone.

Who said immortality is the search for security?  It is a state of permanent responsibility and eternal obligations.  That is a highly risky business!    One has to abandon the search for security and reach out to the risk of living with both arms.

An immortal can achieve or be given physical longevity for as long as his or her task remains.  Some say, that is almost forever: others say it is for a more or less a long time.  The Way is a Way of tasks, commitments, and obligations on those who advance in the Way.  Nor is everyone immortal.  Some waste their life, and die, period.

Immortality is not a birth-right, but a reward-feedback system.  You are not born with an immortal soul, but you may become one, perhaps even bodily.

The cause  of people feeling empty is their knowledge of their mortality.  Death haunts and animates the mortal human in such a way that self-love becomes a desperate need to delusively gain ground over death, by gaining meaning, status, value, or goods over and at a cost to others.  As Tibetan Buddhists put it, death is the mother of tanha - tanha is the fuel of samsara.
