ernobe introduction

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I joined in order to have access to the doc at

Is it not available anymore, or do I need more points here to download it?  It has to do with the system mentioned by Liu Yiming (and quoted by Thomas Cleary in "I Ching Mandalas") which relates the five virtues to the five element system.  Apparently it goes back to the Bo Hu Tong of the second century A.D., which relates the Confucian virtues to the five element theory.   Most explanations of Taoist alchemy that I've seen don't include much discussion of the five elements.  I'm interested in knowing more about how the trigrams came to be associated with the elements historically, and my website at https://archive.org/services/purl/ernobe offers a method of interpreting the I-Ching based on new correlations.

Hello, Ernobe, and welcome.

Your membership is approved and we're happy you found your way to us. We look forward to accompanying you on some of the way that you still have to go.

Please take the time to read the post pinned at the top of this Welcome page and take a look at the forum Terms and Rules.   This covers all you need to know when getting started.

For the first week you will be restricted to ten posts per day but after that you can post as much as you like. Also, until you’ve posted fifteen times in the forums, you’ll be a “Junior Bum” with somewhat restricted access and will be allowed only two private messages per day.

Good luck in your pursuits and best wishes to you,

Fa Xin and the TDB team

Welcome Roy,

The file looks like its no longer available. I can’t view it either. Perhaps try sending a private message to the original poster of the file.

Welcome to the forum. There’s lots of people around who will enjoy discussions of such theories and 5 elements etc. hope you enjoy. 😊

You are welcome to jump right in to the ongoing discussions, revive an older thread, start a new thread of your own, or start a discussion in the "Newcomer Corner" sub-forum to expand on your introduction or ask general questions to help you get started.

May you enjoy your time here.

Fa Xin

Hi Roy.  Welcome.  I wish I could help but I can't.  Ask and ask.  I'm sure someone knows.

That's the spirit.  Asking and asking on forums is what usually gets me in hot water over my head. But, hey, Dao Zhen has the credentials to back him up so is probably used to it.

Thanks to both of you.

Well, your membership request got approved.  That's a good start.  And yes, a welcome from another newbie is a good sign.

hmmn, that's the second mention of him in a few days.  Maybe I can make up a best of Dao Zhen thread..

Wish he'd come back, the man knew a straight line from a curve.
