  1. Maybe this is because most of us operate way below our optimum level of 'being' at ease from within. We become heavy instead of light.

    What do you think?

Personally i feel that if i can shift with the flow, the tendency will be that i will stay afloat, no matter what level the tide. Plant a stick deep into the sand and it gets swallowed when the tide comes in.

'Mind' can be like this stick. Sometimes we plant it too deep into things, whereby these very things, instead of lending buoyancy, fixate us, and as a result, stifle the unlimited potential to choose a different thought sequence or pattern. Hence most of us simply remain reactionary to conditions that generally are affecting 99.9 percent of the population. This is why Messiahs and Buddhas are seldom seen nowadays. Bad atmosphere? :o

    :) just pondering....

Yes ultimately - but on a practical level we are still subject to the tidal flow of energy (for want of a better word). Of course if we are tuned in enough we will just dance with this energy rather than getting submerged.

Certainly don't get many Buddhas and Messiahs ... and yes most people seem to be very engrossed in the world at the moment.

  2. It might also be possible that we allow ourselves to be displaced from sitting comfortably within the 'lotus' of our own minds that subject us to being affected by external influences? :D

Ultimately yes, but I think it is fairly well attested that things like the incidence of the common cold and flu rise in the period of 2 weeks either side of the equinoxs (equinoxi?) and solstices - this is because there is a phase shift in natures energy at this time.

  3. I would buy a book on your stuff apepch7, seriously.

Mak Tin Si = Herman Mak

Herman's Daoism = My way or the highway.

Personally you might find more relaxing quiescence from smoking a pack of Pall Mall Menthol light 100's on a power drag than using his methods.

You'll get a free copy if I ever finish it.

  4. Found this in Gospel of Thomas:

Jesus said, "If they say to you, 'Where have you come from?' say to them, 'We have come from the light, from the place where the light came into being by itself, established [itself], and appeared in their image.' If they say to you, 'Is it you?' say, 'We are its children, and we are the chosen of the living Father.' If they ask you, 'What is the evidence of your Father in you?' say to them, 'It is motion and rest.'"

    Maybe Jesus did Stillness Movement?

  5. Just a word in support of the mod team. I think you've got it just about right. The people who get suspended seem to want this happen e.g. ~JK~.

TTBs seems to go through cycles where it gets very tetchy for a time and then goes back to normal. Some people seem to come her expecting it to be something it isn't - that is a bland calm place for elevated discussion. For me I like the arguments - if you follow the better ones then they really make you think hard about the subject. If this makes it a 'social event' or whatever well then so be it.

  6. *****************************

//--> ~jK~ has been suspended from posting for 30-days for violations of ourForum Guidelines:

Well he seemed to want that.

This was a civilized discussion last time I looked.

I very much like Taomeows prison break analogy and also if I have it right the Gurdieff inversion - in the sense that maybe that which people seek to get liberation is actually what binds them (have I got that right?).

I said somewhere (maybe not this thread) that I thought that true spiritual development (for want of a better name) does not = kundalini or indeed any 'experience' ... we seem to like focusing on the whizz bang flashing lights and fireworks stuff ... when possibly this is just a side show ... or even worse a distraction.

People write on here with the language of great authority when I suspect that we are all finding our way in varying shades of darkness. Also there is always more than one way to skin the proverbial ... I think we should remember this.

Have we all got a little more tetchy lately? Can we blame it on the Autumnal Equinox? Is that today? I think it might be.

  7. interesting so you are saying if i just "be" i will be more creative? the thing is doing music is about expressing from within but i feel that within is constantly changing so i wouldn't be honest to the peopple im singing or playing too. if i write songs. im still a little confused about this topic

No I didn't mean that. You said:

but what happens to the individual? if we can all reach that point of letting go and that point of understanding wont we be unified as one under one thought? how does one express themselves non egotistically and in accordance to tao.

I was trying to say its not one under one thought ... its infinite expression of what is beyond thought. Even if you write from personal experience, or especially, you are reflecting on it and the listeners can benefit from the thoughts and feeling you have .... even if its about struggle ... we all struggle and so on.

Hope this makes sense (if not ignore :)).

  8. I would say this. Individuality and Taoism are not incompatible, in fact the more you become tuned into the Tao the more individual you become because the creativity of the Tao is infinite. Oneness with the Tao would be expressed differently in each person.

The Tao is beyond definition but in relation to creating form appears to be the origin of everything and in relation what exists looks like its mother. It creates and sustains the 10,000 things i.e. the myriad forms of existence. If everyone tuned into the Tao then their action would be something like an amazing dance, each person with their own style and moves (individuality) and in harmony with the others but not all dancing the same - if you see what I mean. So certainly not uniformity in the usual sense.

    Anyway that's my thoughts.

    Cheers.

  9. We all have beliefs whether we call them that or not. The thing to do is to hold them up to the light of day and allow them to be challenged. If they stand up logically then keep them if they don't discard them.

As far as I can see GiH does this but often in a way that challenges others. This is one of the good things about TTBs contrary to opinion of a poster above who was moaning about what he read on here. If you want conformity I suggest go to another site. Not addressing anyone in particular BTW (except myself).

  10. Yes I have experienced shaking in meditation - everything from slight twitching, sudden jerking and bigger movements. My approach is to just see it as part of process. Sometimes it can be quite distracting and difficult but still this is part of the process. Whatever meditation you are doing I would suggest don't give up or change it. However you will find, I think, that like layers of an onion as you go deeper the whole thing will change.

Meditation is a kind of empirical process through which you learn more and more about yourself and your body/mind states. Don't worry and be interested. If it gets to a degree that you can't put up with it then see a competent teacher.
