  1. **** Moderator Message *****

    We have had a number of reports (from both 'sides') relating to the current issue between Scotty and 5ET. TTBs does not support any particular school of practice and is an open forum for discussion of spiritual matters including different systems and lineages. It does not also necessarily support or hold the views of expressed by individuals on here. Normal etiquette between genuine practitioners is to respect other people's system even if not agreeing with it. It is ok of course to point out where one might think weaknesses exist in the other persons approach.

    However it is not helpful to get into personalized disputes and/or to deliberately attack another poster on here or to troll threads for this purpose. The moderation team is discussing action and such action if and when it is taken will be geared to ensuring that TTBs is what it should be, that is a open forum where people are free to express their views without being attacked or goaded into action (including leaving the forum). In other words to protect the reputation of TTBs as a good place to come for information and debate.

    Anyone who thinks this place is for perpetuating disputes will probably face a long suspension - which will be strictly enforced.

  2. It's just what I like and how I would like to see information presented if I was reading it. I like to give just a little bit, give some explanation, my perspective, but not too much. Then the citations and links can be like "Oh, I see what you are saying now".

    Its much better when you explain where you are coming from. More text from you and less quotes would improve your message which is not always being understood. I don't know about other people but I don't have time to watch all those youtube links.

    The second video shows a woman trying to make the controversial new genetic evidence fit into the most conservative and conventional scientific theories possible, as best she can. In the end, there are still objections and contradictions with her attempt to salvage the old migration theories.

    So there is a saying, "if you eliminate the impossible, whatever is left, however improbable, must be the answer". In scientific circles, when a major scientific theory has become no longer feasable, scientists of the alternative or newer theories will now say thiers are "the only game in town".

    Yes I get that. But nothing is proved there is just a big question. The thing is that there is a lot of evidence to support the standard dispersion theory and there is some evidence which is very difficult to fit into it. Someone needs to demonstrate how a pre-existing lost civilization can be a better fit to all the evidence not just some of it. I find it very frustrating that the alternative history researchers do not do this ... i.e. posit an alternative and yet scientifically based model.

  3. I4L,

    Can I suggest something? Less is more. You post some quite interesting stuff (mixed with some not so interesting (to me at least)). Why don't you try to summarize the point you are making in the first post and then add the links and so on which you feel justify your view?

    For instance the two vids which you say "Genetic evidence of how humans migrated in prehistory is consistent with the existence of prehistoric civllization-" ... do no such thing. The first points out that the presence of haplo-group X in plains indians does not fit with dispersion theory but the second repeats the dispersion theory. The mitochondrial DNA does throw up an interesting problem as to how it got from the middle east to the US. From that theories can be developed which may include a pre-existing lost civilization.

    If you had just posted this it would have been an interesting point for debate but these great long posts of yours are just overwhelming really and also seem to repeat a lot.

    A.

  4. I have sent them interviewees an email in the past and I have never heard back from them. I wonder why he is so secretive?

    Try his publisher and/or literary agent .. they may be willing to pass messages on. If you demonstrate genuine interest in his work and have pertinent questions he would have to have armor plating not to want to respond.

  5. DNA is racist, or so say easily offendeed individuals who would prefer to overlook the topic of discussion in favor of the undesirable information presented in an informative manner, to retire it to "racism".

    Let's stop worrying about such infantile woes and focus more on the relevant data: That DNA does not support evolution on the basis of all humanity originating from Africa, or as dark skinned people.

    IF that were true, after all, then it would suggest that blacks are the most inferior evolution of humanity, and this post suggests the exact opposite, that we are ALL EQUAL.

    WHAT retardation did it take to misunderstand that?!?

    {Edit:}

    Case in point:

    So... maybe literacy is one's best friend.

    A picture may say a thousand words, but a caption can omit the irrelevant ones!!!

    {/Edit:}

    OK maybe I'm retarded and illiterate ... just to help me then can someone explain how you would divide humanity into races and what would be the defining characteristics of those races? A list would help.

  6. :lol:

    Where is your here? Your house? Your room? Maybe your body?

    Where in your body? Your hand? Are you your hand? Maybe collection of impulses in your head and your nervous system is where your are? Can I cut open your body and pull your out? Everyone has nerves blood and bones but that can't be where you are. You are not your body. Where are you? Such a simple question, how do you answer it?

    Yes please it's very gooey in here. Thanks.

  7. Yes it is!

    Wouldn't however be the first time a "spiritual teacher" did something like that- or worse.

    What i do find kind of strange, if the pie-thief is one and same with the pie-less then why also go online to taunt the folks they have hypothetically scammed?

    Anyway, since the pie-piper is here, why not just ask?

    No_pie, are you one and the same person who allegedly scammed Mo_pie out of $100?

    If so, what's your reason for coming online with that screename?

    If not, same question:-)

    I'm really really curious now:-)

    I think that's an interesting question K but I can guarantee that you won't get a straight answer.

    From my checks MPG is right about the identity of this person and so since he is already banned for this I am going to re-ban him.

    So its no_more_pie_guy now.

  8. Give Immortal a break!

    The intent of his post was to update some old ideas about all humanity starting in Africa. Which color man would you like to see in the center? Does it matter at all? All men are One in their essence, and the color of one's skin makes no difference, other than the life experiences he may have.

    To consider Immortal as a racist is ridiculous, particularly if you've been reading Immortal's posts for a long time. Like it says in the Dao, when rules and standards and laws are enacted, the Dao is lost. Immortal should apologize to no one. If the picture gets anybody's dander up, they've got some work to do on their own racial biases. Underneath the raised dander is love for all.

    Ok I see there is some discomfort with this mod action but please remember the following from the Mod Guidelines:

    Causes for moderation action:

    * Making personal insults of other members

    * Stalking and unduly harassing other members

    * Profanity and vulgar language

    * Threatening other members in any way

    * Discrimination whether based on gender, race, religion, culture or creed

    * Posting images that would be deemed offensive to the general public

    * Unwarranted spam

    * Links to malicious websites

    * Links to websites that would violate these guidelines

    * Illegal content (ie: links to download copyright software)

    * Content that jeopardizes someone's privacy in an unsafe way or is otherwise dangerous to their safety

    * Excessively and deliberately hijacking threads

    * Overtly and incessantly trying to convert others (will be considered as spamming)

    I am not accusing I4L of being a racist I am saying that the content he posted is discriminatory. I confess that racism is something I personally hate. I've lived and worked in some places where there was a lot of racism in schools and society generally. One thing that supports racism is stereotypes and received attitudes about what people are like which are real barriers to people actually living along side each other and getting on. And its not about middle-class sensibilities or whatever its about real hate and violence, bullying and so on perpetrated against the 'different' minority. Its not political correctness to combat something that is so real and nasty.

    I suppose it was natural for people in the 19th an dearly 20th century to examine the people of the world in terms what they assumed were intrinsic differences such as skin color and so on ... but as far as I am concerned science since then has demonstrated that we are all homo sapiens and essentially the same as humans (despite cultural differences). Why anyone would want to go back to these old ways of seeing things is beyond me. This includes when we are looking at alternative views on history I don't see why race is thought important. For instance I am personally quite convinced by the idea that there was a pre-ice age civilization ... Atlantis or whatever ... but given this doesn't that mean we are all Atlanteans????

    Anyway ... the thread is still here in the Pit and you can carry on with it if you wish.

    I have no intention of Pitting all of I4L's threads and I have always in the past defended his right to post his subject matter (in the face of quite a lot of strong requests to do otherwise).

  9. *** Moderation Message ***

    I am personally uncomfortable with having a thread on TTBs which appears to support a racist theory about the development of mankind. I would prefer to delete this thread entirely but as a moderator I have to follow some rules. In the light of the request above I am going to move this thread to the Pit. Further moderation action may follow once this issue has been discussed by the moderation team.

    this image shows obvious bias.

    did you miss that?

    you posted two versions of it?

    all the root races have intermingled long ago

    we are their progeny and evolving as individuals, not as races.

    Root races? What are they?

    Why is the white man always in the middle ... and why does he have a beard?

    Ridiculous.

  11. I have to admit I haven't read all this ... but do we really need archaic pictures of the 'races' of human beings? Race is not accepted as a legitimate genetic description of any actual basic differences between people.

    Not happy with this at all.

  12. In other words, the reasons for the common folk indulging in deviant behavior and the reasons for the government ending in chaos always stem from the ruler and never stem from the subjects. The common folk model themselves on their ruler.

    Wang Bi commentary on this section.

    The last two lines mean that because of the example set by the (bad) ruler people start to take life lightly (i.e. without proper regard and respect) and behave badly ... i.e. greedy, uncaring an violent.

  13. Mind focused on its own nature is a very Buddhist approach. And just this very statment has been a centuries of dispute and discussions between the two.

    I get what you mean, but it is worth while to point that definitions differ between two schools of thoughts. Just for the sake of mentioning.

    That is all I have time to say :) , got to go for now(might comment on the verse at some point when back). Later, sun xx.

    Ouch my semi-buddhist hand is slapped :lol:. Please do return and comment!
