  2. Is It Over? The Dao Bums Fall

I hope it's not over, I just got here. As an outsider and not aware of the inter-relationship drama between members I will say this (and hope I'm not reprimanded for it). Often times this forum can appear to be a little snooty and highbrow, especially to people who are just beginning on whatever path they're on. This appearance is intimidating to beginner who, like myself, can be afraid to post things in fear of being banned, ridiculed or simply ignored. Forums like these- group dynamics tend to wax and wane, lot's of people come and go. The core posters have obviously known each other for over a decade, which is awesome but also comes with some troubles, and can be intimidating when new here. This is just my opinion as an introvert, who has to go over in her head several times prior to any statement I make. Maybe it's just me projecting my own insecurities of being less knowledgable than everyone else here. I don't know. The lexicon of knowledge here is unmatched on the internet. So many opinions, ideas, paths and little tidbits to glean from. It's a gem. and shouldn't be taken for granted. This forum is literally the only place that I'm aware of that discusses somewhat freely on many topics (reddit is terrible and a cesspool). Ive been lurking on here for many years, but too afraid to comment or ask questions. I'm older now so maybe I care less about what others think of me, which is why I decided to finally join. Just my 2 cents and a newcomer, who would be disappointed if this place disappeared for good.
  3. Equanimity, yes! Being non-reactive those who are trying to get you to react. Finding the root of certain reactive emotions whether fear, anger, anything intense and allowing a certain neutrality to overcome you. Be the observer. grounding can be done with bare feet in the grass, or resting your back upon a glorious tree (I like pine trees for this, be mindful of sap). The cold water technique above is also great, but to add to it- allow cold water to stream on the back of the neck-this resets the vagus nerve. As Krenx also stated drug and alcohol should also be abandoned, they harm more than help.
  4. Hi, I just asked my Ācharaya this question because I'm also not certain lol. His response is as follows "Vajrayana isn't Buddhism, this is a very popular misinterpreted notion because in the present day, only the Nastika (Atheistic) Varjrayana is provided a spotlight, but if one traces back, it's origins is from the very land of Bengal. Vajrayana has two parts, one of which follows the vedas, the other does not. We belong to the one that does. This lineage is one of the Nathas where Vajrayana is one of the parts." He then goes on the explain that there are subtle differences and once I'm less ignorant (my words), I will understand the those differences. He also made point that I should not be debating anyone at this stage because I'm not educated and I will embarrass myself (which is true). Just focus on studying and all will be revealed in time. So, based off the above I guess you could make the interpretation that each lineage will claim certain things and as another poster above eloquently stated it's a display of "my kung fu is better than yours." Which in my experience is always the case no matter the lineage. So, maybe for now don't worry about it and focus on studying whatever it is your Acharaya has instructed you to do so. Be humble, patient, have an open heart and hands.
  5. This is quite the list, thank you. All of these look very interesting and in line with my personal studies. I'm particularly interested in the ones by Jean Markale, Judy Grahn, Ruth Barrett, Babara Walker...wait maybe all of them haha. I'll start with Blood, Bread, and Roses by Judy Grahn. The stacks of books (and tarot decks) around my house is this ever growing monstrosity! Thanks again for this list. If you wouldn't mind to DM me the other list so as not to derail the thread, I would appreciate that!
  6. Everyone post some favorite quotes!

Out beyond the ideas of right and wrong doing, There is a field. 7. It is my basic and rudimentary understanding, I'm still very new and just started to learn about Shiva-Shakti path, is that Shiva is essential inert without Shakti, yet the two are basically one and the same, which is depicted as is the Ardhanareeshvara. According to Shaktas, Shakti is essentially Brahman the " Supreme Ultimate Reality" of all that exists. I've also learned as Shakti is the Womb of the Cosmos and as such it is easier for women to connect with this type of energy, but some women will have trouble due to karmas, past lives, etc. Kundalini "herself" is a goddess, which further emphasizes this concept, I think? Correct me if I'm wrong or mislead. I'm so open to all knowledge I can possible grok. My own personal work/practice is strongly connected to womb connection and exploring the powers attributed to being a literal gateway for life and the ideas surrounding the Divine Feminine.
  8. yes, seems pretty basic and intuitive, especially if you have a background in "magick." What are some basic techniques for building weiqi? I just use yi or intent to create a protective bubble or egg type thing around me and infuse it with white light. I imagine a shield coming from my skin and make it tough like a diamond. Not sure if I'm just spinning my wheels with that though.
  9. Yes, I also thought to ask why OP believes they're being attacked in the first place. If you step in doodoo it's going to get stinky. Best to avoid it altogether. Or you can learn the hard way, I guess. "where intention goes, energy flows" 100%
  10. I agree with this sentiment, though I don't know much with any certainty about anything really. Building defences seems safer than trying to build offensive strategies. I've read of many techniques that seem to focus on offence like Thunder rites or Dimak for example. I've always wondered about karmic implications of harming people or even entities with Chi. Wouldn't building weiqi be more advantageous for a beginner? Would that protect against entities trying to drain or harm you?
  11. Hello

Hi everyone, I've visited this forum as a guest for a few years. I have a background in a mish-mash of techniques that I've picked up over time. My main focus is consolidating my practice, implementing a clear direction and practising daily. My interests are all over the place, I've studied various western occult paradigms, tarot, other esoteric practices, and quite frankly a bunch of crazy sh*t that I've ceased as I see no benefit in it. I have a lot to learn, I feel a little bit behind and overwhelmed with all the information and various schools/lineages/terminology. I suspect I have a fair bit to unlearn as well. For the past few years I have been practicing various techniques from Roni Edlund's Daoist Neigong for Women, which I've had success with. I've read and used many of the WLP techs outlined in Nathan Brine's books as well. I'm a little frustrated at the lack of information that is female centric, which as a woman, is my main focus. Most recently I have been introduced to Trika Shaivism, which has affected me so profoundly any words I try to type to convey this feeling seem shallow or trite. I'm open to discussion, questions and learning about myself and those around me. Thank you for reading this introduction. Best regards Lala
