you have to do it without attachment to outcome, ego, fear, desire. Has to be done without resistance and illusion, with pure all encompassing love and surrender. I'm still working on ironing out all the details. Though Cobie's quote is a good hint Gold to Cobie for that quote

well, arguably these types of rites go back quite further than Gardiner and Crowley, but in terms of making them more accessible to "modern" crowds and western occult enthusiasts, I totally agree. However, scared sexuality and fertility rites go back thousands of years tbh. But that is a dope story about the inscribed lighter. Crowley basically transformed an internal structure based on concepts in hermeticism golden dawn, kaballah (sexual polarities, lunar and solar energies), etc and made them literal. I'm not quite certain about the entire history of how it went down our his lexicon of influences. But Crowley's developments and reinterpretations certainly paved the way for contemporary esoteric practice and influenced a lot of westerners, especially chaos magicians and the use of orgasm to fuel workings, build internal power, etc. yeah maybe, I guess depending on the rite. Wax is more practical however. You don't even need a mold, it's better to carve it as you like it, or as you intend for it to be...hahahaha. yes, I see the Stele of Revealing there! Uncle is such a pure soul! Wow, I see why you're drawn to him. What is that thing he is twirling around? Is there a lot of drinking going on at these men's business functions? that tends to bring out bad behaviour. I was reading about some of these "mobs" last night after reading your thread. I don't know anything about Aboriginal cultural practices, It's pretty incredible how these aboriginal tribes have the longest continuous traditions on the planet. terrible shame what happened during colonization., same in the country where I live. The indigenous have suffered immensely. Though some of the tribes where I at allow some europeans into powwow festivities, over all it's pretty closed, unless you know a tribe member personally. Though within the past 20 years or so many Nations have begun to organize and are heavily involved with the federal government and resource development.

yeah! Yes, I read through your recent "Men's Business" thread, sounds interesting. Are you initiated into this,? many ritual practices are closed to outsiders, how do they keep the hippies away from the more scared elements? Fire keeper is an extremely important role. You appear to be a good mediator and jack of all trades, judging by the goings on of the festival! Well, traditionally The Great Rite would include High Priest and Priestess joining in ummm....coitus lol. Lot's of those type shenanigans with various covens tbh, helps build group power. But I suppose lowering the athame into the chalice will suffice (especially if you don't know the other people too well, or not, whatever floats your boat). Using a rubber/soap ding-dong attached to a string somehow lessens the seriousness of whatever is going on, it would be hard for me to keep a straight face in that setting. No need to buy off etsy- I make my own ritual tools, more personal that way and consecration is always far more fun...

That’s a great question, Lairg, you’re absolutely correct. I do have the authority to request whatever I need. I suppose that I often get caught up in the excitement of ritual: the sense of ceremony, the pomp and circumstance, and the way it used to help set the tone for intention. Old habits die hard. I was going to respond with this long drawn out response defending it. But, ultimately you're right. I don't need the pomp and circumstance. The "tools" already reside within me. I've already claimed my authority. thank you

Mhm, reading through this thread and the most recent quotes, I'm thinking about running this rite, for balance and experience. I feel you- my lunar workings are a little heavy, about to start some lunar work this evening actually! I'm not too well acquainted with my chart lol, although I have a Joyti chart that I refer back to quite a bit. Yes, I really love many elements of Wicca, I loosely follow some of the rites and rituals. Group work can be a lot of fun and prosperous, but it comes with its own issues as well lol. High Priest, eh? fancy. I love this result. I often times tend to focus on the negative, though I do try to practice gratitude in a daily ritual for me, whether it's just giving thanks to the beautiful sky, La Luna, the foliage, etc. Yes, I was reading about the differences earlier today. I've done some Nuit/Nut ritual work, using Thelemic themes as a starting point. I'm usually pretty heterodox in my ritual design and execution lol, always putting my own spin on things and making the work more personal and from my perspective! "Well, wings help us fly " <<Soaring>> Above, the gemmèd azure is The naked splendour of Nuit; She bends in ecstasy to kiss The secret ardours of Hadit. The wingèd globe, the starry blue Are mine, o Ankh-f-n-Khonsu. I am the Lord of Thebes, and I The inspired forth-speaker of Mentu; For me unveils the veiled sky, The self-slain Ankh-f-n-Khonsu Whose words are truth. I invoke, I greet Thy presence, o Ra-Hoor-Khuit! Unity uttermost showed! I adore the might of Thy breath, Supreme and terrible God, Who makest the gods and death To tremble before Thee: — I, I adore thee! Appear on the throne of Ra! Open the ways of the Khu! Lighten the ways of the Ka! The ways of the Khabs run through To stir me or still me! Aum! let it kill me! * The Light is mine; its rays consume Me: I have made a secret door Into the House of Ra and Tum, Of Khephra, and of Ahathoor. I am thy Theban, o Mentu, The prophet Ankh-f-n-Khonsu! By Bes-na-Maut my breast I beat: By wise Ta-nech I weave my spell. Show thy star-splendour, O Nuit! Bid me within thine House to dwell, O winged snake of light, Hadith! Abide with me, Ra-Hoor-Khuit! I'm really digging this quote, thank you for posting it. I have some research to do..Thank you!

I'm drawn to what the founders were doing, the ones who held the solar current before it filtered into human ritual...But I also love seeing how that current took form through the people of Egypt and even contemporary interpretations the rituals, rites and the current itself. The evolution of it all is also fascinating to me. Sounds like your friend channelled The Great Mother, Mahadevi or Adi-Shakti in that moment! What a wonderful vision to be privy to!

no actually- I never practiced the Stele of Revealing, my Solar "adorations" and ritual revolves around different means and methods! I use an adapted version of I AM's Solar Grounding technique that I read about...jeez, probably 15 years ago. I like direct-connect to planetary, solar or lunar energies/logos. However, most of my work, even now is Lunar (and Earth/Gaia) focused simply because I tend to work more directly with Goddess or feminine energies/archetypes, I'm probably a little due for more in-depth solar connectivity. Now that I'm typing all this I'm realizing that maybe my previous approach was a little biased. What benefits did daily practice of the Stele of Revealing give to you? How does the use of the Stele differ from Egyptian to Thelema? I think pronunciation is not as important as intent to be honest. I know I sound a little off when reciting anything from the PGM for example. Though I really do try and research pronunciation the best I can. I know it's a little different with ancient Egyptian though..lot's of creative license with that lol. I believe trance work and allowing glossolalia to flow through you helps connect to language. Oh yeah, I tend to wing it quite a bit hahaha.

Seems like a fair bit of creative license! I'm especially interested in how Egyptians worked with symbology, ritual and cosmology in practice. Not just the history, but the lived spiritual experience/dimension. I'd been interested in which sources texts gave you the clearest insight, most impactful, etc.

Thanks Apech! My only knowledge of this quote is from The Temple of Set or Seithian. Michael Aquino or Don Webb. It was defined as "I have come into being, and by the process of My Coming into Being, the process of Coming into Being is established." What are your reading recommendations if I want to get my toes wet in Egyptian magic?

This was going to be a response in another thread, but I think this topic warrants its own discussion or acknowledgement... A few days ago I was on an hour long conversation over the phone with one of the mods on a pretty popular reddit subform. We spoke about all sorts of things, but mostly kundalini, inner alchemy, and lastly morality and ethics when conducting any magick or esoteric arts. He drew my attention to the wiki’s of r/kundalini. Which basically states there are unwritten “cosmic laws” that basically states the following: 1.The First Law: Don't mess with others' minds. 2.The Second Law: Kundalini is for knowledge, wisdom, growth, and defence, not attack. 3.The Third Law (more of a guiding criterion): Always send or use Kundalini with the condition "With No Karma Back To Me." If karma would result, Kundalini does nothing This is similar to the concept in Wicca/Witchcraft of The Threefold Law. We also spoke about Qaballah, The Qlippoth, Thelema, cause/effect, and maintaining balance in the natural world when conducting magick. In the past I’ve used a method that sort of expands my weiqi out to shield myself from extremely windy conditions when I was out walking and once to lessen a torrential down pour. He thought that even those acts could possibly have a karmic backlash via upsetting the natural order of nature. Any of this is very well and great as an opinion, but I do also acknowledge strong evidence for this theory. I see the value of defence and not offence. I note that it is important not to mess with the minds of others, which would be considered black magick to some and unethical. I've also heard some occultists say these rules or laws don't exist at all. The last thing he pointed out to me was how many old sorcerers do you know? Demonologists? Necromancers? There are not many that make it into old age. (Paraphrasing) But is that true? The most famous mage of modern times that I can think of is The Great Beast, Aleister Crowley, he lived until 72, which is an extremely interesting number in and of itself. 72 years isn’t too bad in my opinion, although he did die in poverty, with poor health and addicted to opiates. Jack Parsons was a protege of Crowley's, he died in an extremely violent fashion while attempting to his own Babalon Working. Jake Stratton Kent, a modern formidable necromancer, mage and occultist. Apparently on his death bed the nurses had to take his pen away as he was overcome with drawing sigils and spewing forth unintelligible incantations. Rasputin the mystic was murdered in his late 40's. These are just a few modern occultists that practised in a more darker tone that I can name off the top of my head. Now, one death in modern times that struck me as interesting was that of Christopher Hitchens. While not a sorcerer or necromancer, Hitchens, an atheist, was a man who spoke out quite dramatically against the Abrahamic streams, be it Judaism, Islamic, or Christian. He died of throat cancer. Western folk magic we often hear about the Crone Archetype, The Wise Woman, she who helped the younger women with birthing, protective spells, shamanistic rites and various incantations. The Wise Women were to be feared and revered in their communities. Unfortunately many of them were also burned at the steak. But, they did make it into old age and many of their practices carried on into modern times. We often see depictions of Chinese Mages or Sages who reach a very old age. But what about necromancers wrought with more darker practices? So, what gives? Maybe balance, integration and transcendence? What you put out- whether good or evil comes back, if you shoot an arrow expect the recoil and unbalanced practices drains life force. Failure to integrate both light (healing, purification or devotion to a higher principle) and dark forces results in the practitioner staying in the shadows or remaining begotten to chthonic forces. Remaining in those dark places without seeking the balance of higher devotion (the Dao, Sophia, Shiva, etc), cultivating life or transcendence those places sucks the literal life from you. We see many old Sages, but rarely do we see old necromancers and demonologists. We often see those practitioners stuck in the shells of the Qlippoth, unable to transcend them and their minds or bodies (or both) ravaged in the process.

A creative interpretation of Liber III, how is this working out? From what I'm gathering this is a tool for Becoming, or willful self directed evolution with apotheosis or spiritual refinement as the end goal? An evaluation of various thoughts, emotions, visions from the "astrals," the colours are marking each transgression or undesirable trait or pattern, reducing them down and sending them back to the void? Colour assigning the trait, balancing the traits (or assigning them to personality "a" or "b"), then further reducing with a numerical code. Re-aligning oneself with True Will. Hence Razor Horse. A tool for self-control (less gory version). I would imagine doing it like this would re-create similar frenzy and a release similar to the original instructions. (Xeper, Xepera, Xeperu) or something along those lines.

I really love working with yarrow stalks and the i-ching as well, I easily trace out while in the thick of working the formula. I don't know who Terry Dunn is or what Flying Phoenix, though I heard of FP mentioned on this forum before. I enjoy the artistry/design of the Thoth deck very much, I find it the definitions of each card is framed differently, not only in the symbology but the interpretations as well. I like how the Thoth deck flows well between the qaballah, using Liber 777 as map. I wouldn't say my knowledge of tarot is expert level, though I've been using and studying it for nearly a decade. I believe that any mage should be at the very least aware of various entities and egregores connected to whatever tool he or she is using. Who created the system, grimoire, etc. how do former students or practitioners fare? Know the tree by its fruit kind of thing. I would even carry that over to various eastern lineages and the egregores and entities associated with them...even installed LDT's vs. building your own, I understand the controversy in that statement as well. maybe too well... While I enjoy the literature of HP Lovecraft and I can appreciate the esoteric grimoires associated with and built upon that mythos I have not touched that magick deeply in any sense or the tarot deck you mentioned above. Simply because those entities are of very dark forces-that lay recessed deep in the subconscious mind or deeply "asleep" "somewhere" waiting for those who seek it. If you open those kinds of energies, you better be able to work them, work through them, or banish them. It's similar to doing qlippoth work, I'm not certain there is any true benefit to it (for me personally at least). A good friend of mine did some very heavy work with the Necronomicon (and other qlippoth work) and a few associated grimoires and it brought him to some very dark places. It took him a year to dig himself out of the mess he created. I know a few people who have had a lot of difficulties from going too deep, too dark and suffering for it. Some forces are meant to stay in the subconscious realm (or whatever realm they reside), once you release them it can be very difficult to put them back there. Psychosis from occult practices is a very real condition, it's easy to spot in others, but it can be very difficult to recognize those symptoms in yourself, especially for a lone wolf like me. I have The Shadow Tarot by Linda Fiorio and while appreciate the work she put into that system, I simply have no desire to fuck with my psychology or endure heavy dissociative epics in my life. Maybe if I was not a mother or had nothing left to lose or nothing else to do. But, I have a very serious commitment to maintain relative sanity because I have young children to care for and I can't be bringing extremely dark forces into my house or life. It doesn't mean I'm a scaredy-cat/chicken, etc either...I've done a ton of heavy shit that I'd rather not get into on this forum, but ultimately I question if it was truly beneficial or resulted in positive outcomes, or any of the outcome are worth the effort and risk. I recognize Shadow work being beneficial, understanding the darker elements of reality is important, but I cannot allow it to consume my life. I have other "stuff" to do and accomplish. I've learned that when I'm ready to do something, I'll do it without hesitation. I don't do things for clout, I don't have anyone to impress. I'm certainly no "edge lord." I have over 100 decks, I collect them. Most of them I don't use for divination. My first rider deck is what I use the most, especially for divination, or pathworking/astral travel to tarot realms. Another favourite deck of my is Elemental Tarot, Caroline Smith, which is not traditional in any sense. Some decks I find will always give me a darker tone, sometimes morose feelings. If that happens I put the deck away and stop using it for divination, the Secret Tarot did this. Honestly, I've worked with most Goetia and my experiences were mostly pretty profound, though I did not follow the Solomonic tradition/instruction verbatim and I was pretty unorthodox in my practice. I agree with your statement regarding Goetia, though not all of them were previously gods, a few are of a different order entirely (In my experience)

Yep, love me some Tool! Definitely one of my favourite bands, I've seen them live 4 times lol. Danny Carey is most certainly a practitioner of Enochian magick- "Faaip de Oiad" (Lateralus) is Enochian for "Voice of God," it such an interesting closing track to the album, wouldn't call it a song per se...but if you know, you know Lot's of other esoteric elements are woven into their work as well. yes! I'm fully of that blog you posted above, interesting stuff.

Could the choice of HP Lovecraft's fictional villains be inspired by the BibleLala Nila replied to Sanity Check's topic in Abrahamic Religions Discussion Yeah it's a similar concept. I haven't read the Narnia chronicles so I can't say anything of value regarding that. I would suggest reading Cult of Cthulhu, The horror of Red Hook, The Dunwich Horror, The Hound (and many others)- they will provide supporting evidence for your thesis or refute your claims entirely, or maybe help bridge ideas for another theory. Either way the stories are awesome and yes, many people report "high strangeness" after entering the realms of Lovecraft. But more so if you're actively delving into the elements of "Necronmicon" as an esoteric practice, which is entire style of magick, fictional grimoires, Neo grimoires (Kenneth Grant as an example) and egregores associated with his work. There is a ton of fan fiction available as well. Yeah, I don't know anything about you, so maybe you're into the occult or not, it doesn't matter much to me either way For me personally, it's the style of writing and the cosmic horror sub genre in general that really appeals to me. Lovecraft gets a lot of flack for being "politically incorrect," but I can look past that and just enjoy great literature. To be honest this thread inspired me to re-read some of Lovecraft's work, so thanks for that! Honestly, if you don't feel like reading, listen to the 2 audiobooks I listed above. There is just something magical in the cadence and tone of Wayne June and his narration style. >> Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn <<

There is no such thing as death, life is a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves."
